I still can't believe we lost Randy. I can at least say that I saw him wrestle in person and even had the chance to meet him and shake his hand. He was a class act in person. Seriously, he had a humble attitude when I met him. He was and always will be one of my all time favorites.
@Mangler914 In hindsight, I'm seriously GLAD Hogan/Flair didn't happen. Savage/Flair was better over the long haul and it gave us a much better story that even today, registers (least in my book) as a timeless classic. My only knock on WM VIII as a whole was that this match was NOT what folks left the Hoosier Dome with. Mania ending that year with Flair being upset over the loss and Savage being vindicated to a point, but far from done with Flair would've made a GREAT ending.
at the time hogan v sid was the perfect end. hogan was still more popular than savage or flair. when you look back at all of these old matches everyones opinion changes because they are looking at the matches and wrestling in general differently than they did 20 years ago
some people say they wanted to see Hogan V Flair at this mania... i prefer this, difference is unlike hogan, Randy could work a great match. RIP Randy.
@Armando316 I think it has to do with the matches they are watching...Not to mention WWE worrying about being an entertainment company now more than a wrestling promotion. It's all about selling merchandise now
@josephD32 I think Vince's friends at the Greenwich country club must give him shit about wrestling so he's decided he has an entertainment company now
@herbgardner420 True. I mean, I have no grudge with him wanting to promote a global entertainment company, with movie and music studios and all that. I just think it's pathetic that he tries to deny what his primary entertainment product is: professional wrestling.
@azariah15 Agreed. Randy Savage is possibly the most overlooked and undercredited ring performers in wrestling history. Aside having a big part in the birth/growth of Hulkamania (Hogan owes Savage greatly), he was great at working with his opponents and making them look better and making the matches even better. I don't think he's yet in the WWE Hall of Fame, but he deserves to be (but instead they put Drew Carey in there).
It's always top of the line when it's a Ric Flair PPV Main Event. Flair dictates such a high pace and always has the greatest matches. Most guys walk into WrestleMania in awe of the event. Flair walked down to the ring like WrestleMania should be in awe of him. You'd swear Flair main evented 20 Mania's the way he walked into this one.
I love how Flair always goes straight up, never up and out, when he takes a backdrop, and goes up like an anvil so the other guy has to push him up and get out of the way
I always loved the way Flair did that irish whip/turnbuckle flip thing (5:50), and ran to the other turnbuckle and attempt an axe drop or something. and always have it backfire! LMFAO!
i love this matchup, sucks they had to take second to last match under Hogan as usual because he is a fucking limelight hog. i just wish the quality was a tiny bit better, but still a great upload!
@thewrestlingfan I think Vince had a no blade policy in place back then for ppv's. But if someone got busted open legit then it slid. But IMO a title match with Flair just isn't the same unless Flair bleeds.
savage won the IC title with knuckles, i bet tito had something to do with flair using them....lol

Vince fucked up by not makin Hogan-Flair at WM. WCW got to be the ones who cashed in on those PPV matches while Vince wasted it on house shows.
But this was a badass substitute and better than the Hogan-Sid match. Glad Macho got it anotha title run as a face before he left for WCW

@trainer305 I agree. They ALWAYS would put the WWF/E Championship Match dead last to give it the climactic finish. This should've been no different.
