I think when turning slow the rotor being driven stutters because the generator stops producing energy at the time the rotor pauses but when turning faster the momentum gets the rotor past the the non generating spots between the pulses and they sinc up together
Hi, you look like you know what your doing =D - Id like to know something an i hope you can help. I have an 18 pole stator - three sets of 6 - thats three phase. how i have my genny is with 6 magnets all north, how ever seeing another video that the guy had eight magnets for a set of 6 coils. do i actually need 8 or 6?
Somewhere, I thought it was on Youtube, I saw an axial flux alternator (with blades) being driven externally to be run as a motor... Where the heck is that video ? It was like an airplane ! VERY fast (and noisy)
To try answering ur final question... i guess the coils being magnetized are just attracting your magnets forward and backward... a small solar panel12 watts might help the starting process and then help synchronize ...
So what one produces more power? the thicker or thinner wire? What do you think would happen if i built one with 18 coils, 9 thick, 9 thin?

these are very nice alternators thanks for sharing,I really like your steam generator video too!
