  • Wait this is not the movie I remember. This movie have scenes from The Fifth Offensive but theres stuff I have'nt seen before. looks like they used some stock footage from another movie.

  • @EvilPoet85 The original release of this movie was 177 minutes long, but then it was cut down to 105 minutes and released for home ownership. thats probably the version you know. later it was re-released at a longer but still not complete cut of 158 minutes.

  • @BlackMasterRoshi You're right my version is exactly 105 min, it also stars Richard Burton, but when I think about his scenes looks like they were spliced in.

Dam now I really need to see the original.

    Thanks for the info.

  • @EvilPoet85 If there is Burton in that movie then its a different movie, most probably the Battle Of Sutjeska.

  • @freedomliberator With all the alternate titles, and different edits I'm not sure of what it is but, its awesome

  • The version I have of the movie is called The Fifth Offensive

  • This was my favorite war movie as a kid. Its about Tito's forces in Yugoslavia. Its really heavy on the action, and pretty good.

  • This video went viral on Bucharest

  • I can't say to what extent, but the Germans did use captured T-34s, especially later in the war.

  • @BigFuzzySperm lol maybe for cigarettes maybe for Vodka ;)

  • why does sovjet use german guns? and germany use t34 tanks?

  • @MrSpy3000 that's not sovjets.. thats Yugoslav Partizans. Partizans in ww2 used captured wepon . Movie made in Yugoslavia and Yugoslav army after ww2 used russian T-34 and US Sherman tanks.. read and lern of Yugoslav Partizans in ww2 .. wikipedia....

  • @jhonnholiday but still why does germany drive T-34?

  • There are movies today who have worse special effects than this excellent master of cinematic battle.

  • what Sherman do here?!

  • In this battle did the Russians and Germans swop there kit about then got down to fighting!

  • Only problem is, the tiger at the one scene gets knocked out easily. When they were like unstoppable in a head on fight.

  • Are the Russians using German Pak38s in this one? :)

But yeah it's true that both sides captured and used each others' gear.

  • Are the Russians using German Pak38s in this one? :)

  • i assume the T-34/85's with extra sloping armor are meant to be Panthers...but, ironically, the look more like T-34/76's ! the "tiger-34's" look pretty decent, although the ones in "kelly's Heroes" are a bit more refined.

  • And all of the gear was recycled for the Yugo civil war and then sold to the us gun collectors

  • @beowulf342000 I think that the jackets that Krueger is wearing were sold on Ebay....and they were props from this movie and another Yugoslav black and white movie (thats why pattern color is odd looking like American) camo) called "Desant Na Drvar" there were over 2000 of those uniforms made for the movies...

  • Quite lulzy to see both sides speaking German

  • @matchboxmental I agree with you..I find the movie funny..Russians speaking German?? The producers think other ppl are stupid to accept this movie..haha. Observing carefully, it is NOT Panther tank at all. I am a tank enthusiast too.

  • It wasn't uncommon for the Germans to steal Allies/Soviet tanks. According to Marshal Law the stolen tanks must be marked with the German BalkenKreuz. Example of this was the Battle of Kursk where germans stole T-34s to sneak thru enemy defenses.

  • Wie kommt bitte ein US-Sherman Panzer an die Ostfront?

  • Lol Germans with Russian and American tanks

  • @doomie21

LoL Hardy Krüger , one real German veteran of 38th Waffen SS Div Nibelungen as Oficcer in one

Movie of World Ward 2 , one tipical film of Evil Stupid German Army vs Brave and Smart Allied Heros.

XD for 27 Allied loses in Battle only Die 1 German ,

Many Germans die in fact for Air Strikes , Revenges or Die as POWs , but in the magical world of Films Allied Armys not wins for supreme numbers vs quality.... they wins wins because they are RAMBOS.

  • funny because the germans are using shermans and t-34 well those tanks are used by the allies not the germans

  • @WorldOfTankss

The German Officer was a real Waffen SS Soldier in WW2

unfortunatly real German tanks for movies was unposible for all destruction of post war.

  • Why are the Germans in Russian T-34's?

  • @46spoony leased by Hitler from Stalin with very low interest rates ;)

  • @freedomliberator

I know its impossible to find ww2 german tanks, but c'mon.

  • @46spoony Because the germans had a host of caputred tanks also :)

  • @46spoony either the researchers for the movie did a terrible job or they're supposed to have been captured. German, around this time, didn't have relatively many sloped armored vehicles. Eventually, they copied the Soviet's effective sloped armor, implementing it into their own tanks.

  • @46spoony it wasn't uncommon for germans to be using captured tanks, or equipment on the eastern front

  • @46spoony Possibly to save budget, notice how awesome the tiger looks like,a traktor with caterpillar tracks covered with cardboard, and the T-34's supposed to be Panthers I guess.

  • @Nazrul117 You did not read earlier comments, the "Tigers" were built on top of T34s chassis and they were later much improved (their looks, mobile turret and gun barrel were able to move ..) and before they were used in making Kelly's Heroes...

  • @freedomliberator It still however strange that germans are using both russian and american tanks.

  • Never knew Hardy Kruger was in this! The usual way to die in Sixties war films was to throw both arms up in the air - so he got it wrong...

  • Never knew Hardy Kruger was in this!

  • oouuh it's Shermans!

  • German gears vs German gears, Soviet Gears vs Soviet Gears.

ooh it's shaking my head "~*

  • What the hell? Was that supposed to be a Tiger? I guess it was early production tigers, or?

  • I like the story of a British soldier coming across his old North Africa Campaign motorcycle in liberated France. New paint job, new insignia, same serial number - merely borrowed for German use for awhile.

  • the germans has t-34 hahahha!

  • @grvc44 The Germans used everything they captured, artillery, tanks, jeeps, trucks, even boots. You know what the first thing they did with those captured tanks was?

    Put in Radios.

  • @MrVonKruger will the german's has its pride, yeah they have captured several soviet tank but they dont use in a major operation and there is no historical account about that. specially the sherman tank.!!

  • @grvc44 Yes, there is well documented accounts of Germans who used captured Shermans in Normandy, the Ardiens and even during the siege of Berlin itself.

Heck, during the Kursk Battle a Soviet Brigade surendered without a shot when 12 T-34's over ran them....and ended up being Germans!

In Africa the Africa Corp used captured British trucks to move gas so they wouldn't be attacked from the air.

Do some reading, there's a LOT of really neat stories on this subject.

  • IS IT RUSSIAN FLIM? I LIKE RUSSIAN CULTURE.

  • @Nini5244 NO THIS IS YUGOSLAVIAN MOVIE. It was made in 1969 and released in US in 1971. It was the most expensive move made in former Yugoslavia. Everything in this movie was done by real actors even original bridge on Neretva river was destroyed twice and rebuild again only for this movie. Poster for this movie was done by Pablo Picasso

  • german takns are T-37

  • interesting fact- car Yugo was made in Yugoslavia and was used as joke in some movies, good example is move Die Hard 3 with Bruce willis search youtube to see Bruce willis driving it

  • what you people watching here is yugoslavian solders they call them self Partizani they are the ones wearing hat with red star. And they are fighting vs germans. Partizanas are fighting to free yugoslavia of german occupation. Partizan leader is TITO. After TITO army fights germans off the yugoslavia land he become president of yugoslavia and remains president of Yugoslavia for 40 years untill his death in 1980. After Josip Broz Tito dies Yugoslavia dies with him.

  • Pak 40s, 76.2 would not have penetrated any Tiger head on...LOL

  • Those who play World of Tanks game will find this scene with T-34 and Sherman Tanks and Tigers advancing together funny because that's how it happens in the W.o.T. Matches, its free to play game so if you are interested in WW2 era tanks make sure to check World of Tanks game. Its lots of fun!

  • @freedomliberator Downloading right now! Better be good I here there's lots of hackers...

  • @freedomliberator do you have to have good computer for world of tanks?

  • @kozmon0t recommended setup for the game is : 8800gt / ATi equiv. (512mb)

2.4ghz dual core, 2gb ram & at least 1 Mbit/256 DSL or similar internet connection.

  • @freedomliberator it is not "fantasy" both the German's & Russians pressed the enemies equipment into service. Not that long ago a T-34 was pulled intact from a bog in Estonia complete with German markings.

  • Haa they used shermans as german tanks! :)

  • @tankman13p66 that's no sherman its a PzKpfwM4 748(a)

  • Why the Russians shooting at T-34s? ;-)

  • @GeekBoy03 Yugoslavs not Russians.

  • i like when he get hit by a tank and his wife randomly appears out of nowhere on the battle field and starts caring for him.

also i like how they used a sherman tank as a german tank at 3:33

  • i like when he get hit by a tank and his wife randomly appears out of nowhere on the battle field and starts caring for him

  • How come the German commander turned up to the battle in his pyjamas.

  • Brian Dennehy at 9:28? :D

  • @TheSaturnV nooo, its Franko Nero, they do look somewhat similar, Franko looks like Brian's very anorexic version xD

  • @freedomliberator :D I was just having fun, thank you for listing the actor's actual name!

  • Hardy Kruger wearing a US WWII Camo coveralls, Lol

    column of US M-18 Hellcats @ 6;21

  • Hardy Kruger wearing a US WWII Camo coveralls, Lol

  • esta chido....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :}

  • Wow, a German Sherman on fire at 3:33. great to see the Kelly's Heroes fake Tiger tanks on this movie. Thanks for posting!

  • @hibob418 Kelly's Heroes was filmed in Yugoslavia because of this Movie.. we have originally provided all of the tanks for Kelly's Heroes (including the three Tiger tanks and Sharmans)..

  • @Luka464 Sam Peckinpah's Cross of Iron was completely shot in Yugoslavia, in today's Croatia, and all tanks and vehicles in that movie were provided by Yugoslav Army and Jadran Film Zagreb was in charge of almost whole production value and they did really good job, it was not mainstream movie it was almost an indie production and when you see how little money they spent the result is really spectacular. Neretva was most expensive War movie ever produced back in 1969.

  • one of the best war film i ever seen! you should have leave original version of the language. yugoslavean(croatian-serbian)-italian-german-english! over 700 million people seen this film!

  • 0:32

The only way to die in 1969.

  • @aaKonda it was the only polite way to die in 1969 xD

  • O yes! german T-34's! and shermans!

  • O yes! german T-34's!

  • Whoa Sherman abuse!

  • Marshell Tito is a great leader not only in Yugoslav but also in the whole world. Tito always lives in people's heart. From Beijing China

  • @diamond7303 Greetings from Serbia! ;))

  • OMG the yugoslavs was superhumans

  • @webmacho WE ARE MOTHERFUCKER !!!

  • @webmacho Pity nowadays no longer call themselves Yugoslavs!

  • @webmacho yugoslavs are not superhumans but they have a bools. Untill Ally invasion on Italy was only second front on europe. Yugoslavs are only nations who libarated own country whit own force. During Stalingrad battle in Yugoslavia was 500.000 and more Germans and their allies against Partizans.. Mabe whit that 500k history be deferent

  • I like the way the tanks are all Russian or American but pimped out to look German , they are awsom !

  • @burtonreid

0:40 these German Actor its one Real Ex WW2 soldier I forgot hes name but he is the Evil SS oficer in "one bridge too far".

  • Comment removed

  • @D00MonEarth Hardy krueger

  • @burtonreid

    thanks mate.

  • wow those tanks in the begin looks like an t34...

  • @outskool100

its one mix batalion of T-34 Panther and T-34 Tiger (XD)

The best target of all World War 2 film Battle and icon of all Wehrmacht or Waffen SS Troops ,

similar to the indians in Cowboys films , this guys are evil , idiots , cowards and maybe Satanic too...!!!!

Look one Nazi Sherman in the 7:55 scene

  • The Tigers look funny.... lol

  • Great casting :) Sergei Bondarchuk as Martin Yul Brynner as Vlado Anthony Dawson as General Morelli Curt Jürgens as General Lohring Sylva Koscina as Danica Hardy Krüger as Colonel Kranzer Franco Nero as Captain Michael Riva Howard Ross as Sgt. Mario Lojze Rozman as Ivan Oleg Vidov as Nikola Orson Welles as Chetnik senator Demeter Bitenc as Captain Schroeder Faruk Begolli as Lieutenant Horst
  • @Micowiny Lojze Rozman is our actor. He is from Slovenia. So beatiful Silva Coscina was born iz Zagreb. Oleg Vidov - yes he is Russian, but I thought he is our, too. Great movie!

  • lol they had to do everything the hard way back then, including building a bridge and destroying it twice.

  • @haienbleurgh yeah the hard way, in the first 20-30 minutes of the movie, there is scene of air raid, a cameraman was killed and camera destroyed while they they were shooting that scene. One of the concrete cast bombs hit directly on cameraman's bunker, he was instantly killed. Another accident happened while director Bulajic was shooting another war movie Kozara, he wanted airplanes to fly very low just a bit above tree tops,so one of the pilots hit top of a pine tree and got killed...

  • @freedomliberator But all that seems to pay off. When I first saw it I thought it must've been a 1990-2000 movie.

  • Didn't realise that this was the 4th Most expensive foreign movie made.

  • I dont know about the shermans, but the Germans regularly pressed captured T-34's into service, as well as many Russian firearms. It was necessary as the Germans couldn't produce enough advanced weapons for their armies

  • @UBiQproductions The Germans actually captured some Shermans too in the real war. Like the T-34 which is codenamed as "747(r)", captured Shermans were codenamed "748(a)". Possibly, R is for Russian and A is for American.

  • Ah,the Yugoslavian acting school of dramatic dying..proof that in WW2 the soldiers didn't just die..they did it in style!

  • I think I saw T-34 with German cross symbol

  • @2001tytyty They were pretty common in the late WW2 period. The Germans needed tanks, and hey,if you have the T-34 in stock, why not slap a Baltic cross on 'em and send them in the thick of it?

  • lol na wie schlecht is das denn, ein paar umgebuckelte t-34 auf deutsch gestylt...oh mann

  • Nice move, havent seen this one before, going to have to go and rent it :)

You mention the Kelly's Heroes Tigers in the description - interesting stuff. Do you know if those were still operational even after the modifications to make them look more like the Tiger 1, or if they just ended up spending the rest of their lives as props? I would be inclined to think the latter more likely.

  • I hope you manage to find integral version, actually you can find whole movie on Youtube with English subs. The tanks were property of JNA (Yugoslav Army) so they did whatever they wanted with it later. Around the time when Kelly's Heroes was made Yugoslavia was modernizing armored units so most old tanks Shermans and T34s were either melted & cut or sold and exported. Few remained in TO (military reserve), or were used for target practice or as artifacts at military academies and schools.

  • Thanks :)

  • @Molotov1943 its interesting because steven speilberg did the exact same in saving private ryan, all they did was remove the t34 turret and part of the full and add tiger 1 props. you can tell their not real tigers but they sure are cool to look at the precision and hard work put into them.

  • wtf?! the germans comes with a sherman tank? the sherman is a American/English tank :/

  • Sherman is US Army tank, Shermans seen in this movie were actually used in Normandy and later on, once war was finished and after 1948 they were given by USA to Yugoslavia, together with loads of other military stuff...Yugoslavia played to be a non aligned country and was not member of Warsaw pact nor NATO and armed itself from both sides of the iron curtain. Hence both Sherman and T34 can be seen in the movie, both were available for movies in 1969 unlike German tanks that were in museums...

  • same pantery i tygrysy ?? dobre!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You are either a retard or very young or both, anyway lots of vacuum between your ears...99% of foreign movies that are shown in Germany are lip synchronized to German language. The same is with TV shows. You can watch for example Heroes in German or Avatar...The same is with this movie, this version is lip synchronized and dubbed in German, done for German movie theaters. Original is German/Serbo-Croat and not Russian. Regarding tanks read previous comments. Ignorance is not a bliss.

  • @TigerMeet2142 You're fuckin' dump. There are no Soviets. :-s

  • And in which WW2 movie have you had a scene with 30-40 real German tanks? Even Soviets when they shot Battle of Kursk used T-54, T-55 as replacement for Panthers xD, again there are not Russian partisans, but Yugoslav (Today's Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia... =former Yugoslavia) and these partisans killed according to OKW (German) sources 72000 German soldiers from 1941-1945,also some 300 k qusling soldiers were killed by the same partisans. They were 4th Army by strength in Europe in 45.

  • Use of T34s and even Shermans that you overlooked ;) in the scenes is lame, but partisans using German weapons is historically correct, those 72000 German soldiers that were KIA in Yugoslavia were in most of cases killed by German made weapons including artilery pieces until Summer 1944 when British started to supply Yugoslav partisans with large amounts of their weapons and gear..;)

  • Since you like to label, I will take liberty to block you and label you with "ignorant imbecile alert" ;)

  • You honestly think there were enough working German tanks AVAILABLE, not to mention in Yugoslavian stocks in the 60's to make scenes of this magnitude? Besides, the Germans took use of couple hundreds of captured Soviet tanks, and they were used mainly in secondary fronts just like the Balkans. Admitted, they were mainly T34-76's instead of T34-85's as seen here, but it aint still far-fetched at all to depict the Germans attacking with captured T34's against Yugoslavians using captured PAK40'..

  • The only tanks used in Yugoslav theater were light German tanks, and a number of French tanks captured in France when its Army surrdendered. The only use of Tiger and Panther tanks was noted in Hungary and Slavonia and Vojvodina in late 1944 and early 1945 against Soviet Red Army units. Tanks seen here in the movie are T34/85 that Yugoslavia got after war as support from CCCR and later in 50ties Yugoslavia got Shermans from USA. Those tanks were used in the movie.

  • There were NO German tanks that were operational in Yugoslavia in 1960ties and NO real German tanks were used for shooting this movie. To my knowledge the same counts for Kelly's Heroes and later Cross of Iron, both were shot in Yugoslavia in cooperation with Jadran film company and Yugoslav Army that provided technical support for both movies. ^^

  • jednostavno je presmjesno kad vidis partizana kako vice "FEUER!!" :D:D

  • @ljimi haha, tako je to sa sinronizacijama, gubi se autenticnost nazalost xD

  • Interesting movie, at least until the bad Tiger Tank replicas showed up...the worst ive seen.

  • Odlican snimak! odakle ti?

  • also at o:31, if the Germans are charging the lines, the why are the....?Russians? or defenders using a mg34, I can only assume it was captured...and lol at 3:32 isn't that clearly a Sherman?like in 1 second it chagnes from an imitation tiger to a sherman...-_-....but good action none the less i suppose

  • Nice observations, all answers on what you find curious you can find on wikipedia just search using terms: Yugoslav Partisans , it takes few minutes to read it , its very concise and informative. btw I noticed that rough cut that movie editor did the switch from an imitation Tiger to Sherman xD. Well no CGI back in late 1960ties, and no real operational Tiger tanks as well to be used for movies, few left, were in museums I guess ;)

  • that is quite the battery of pak 38/40 anti tank guns, or so it seems that's what they are

  • yes they tried to be historically correct and did not use Soviet ZIS artilery pieces that YPA/JNA had in abundance , PAK 40 75 mm L/46 is most of the battery rest seem like PAK 38 50mm. I noticed that some T-34s are with 85 mm barrels. ..

  • Were any of the Tiger I and II's real? Or were they all imitiations?

  • They used T-34s and modified them to look like Tiger I tanks, for shooting the Kelly's Heroes they did more modifications. Barrel, turret and hull were further improved, version seen in this movie had immobilized turret and barrel, anyway one look at the track mechanism and you can see it is T-34 xD

  • Oh so all of them were T-34's?

  • Yes, all of them were modified T-34s.

  • Alright thanks man =]

Also, what other war movies do you suggest that are similar to this?

I don't mean things like SPR, but like older movies if you know what I mean.

  • There is really a number of good old movies similar to this one, for sure it would be interesting to see some of the Soviet movies, a must see is movie Liberation, the 5 parts version, 439 minutes long, each part is about one of the great battles on the Eastern Front. Stalingrad from 1989 directed by Yuri Ozerov also. I list these because you probably have not heard about them. Also Cross of Iron by Sam Peckinpah, its missed by younger audiences interested in WW2 movies because its antiwar drama

  • LOL anything like that should've been posted on here where people can read it. Anyway i'm correct which is the main thing, not your asides.

  • Those are russian T-34 tanks. The first one shown at the beginning of the clip was one of several that were modified to look like a Tiger-not a bad imitation. Those "tigers" were the same ones used in the movie Kelly's Heroes, made around the same time.

  • I guess you did not read the full video info with this clip before you commented xD.
