  • @Scoomando, id say that for a duramax, but if you like cummins there is a vid on here of a 150 psi boost... if you love diesels then it would almost be better then sex.

  • okay the driver blew it up it wasnt the motors fault and if you look at any sled pull or drag race the d-max for sum wierd reason leaves them cummins and powerchokes in its smoke so cant handle high horsepower my ass

  • @Jeffreyrno thats funny considering most big name pullers use cummins engines (ie ohio cat, BBD, scheid, etc...) not duramaxs. its easier 2 make big numbers reliably in a cummins. fact! and theres more record setting cummins on the strip than duramaxs (ie drever family, dale and jimmy smith, ts performance caged fury, etc...) it just takes more work to make a reiable high hp duramax than a cummins. fact!

  • Its not EFI, it was PPE or some crap, plus the guy said it was a totally custom engine with 500 miles on it. He blew it up three weeks later :)

  • A good demonstration of why messing with the engine is not recommended. I would advise others so they didn't use the same product that blew the engine.

    Remember another thing, "Balck Smoke = Broke". All the idiots that inject lots of diesel just ruin their engines too. They are completely thick and think it looks good. They know very little about engines, they are victims of adverts and being conned by companies selling devices to cause damage.

  • @urbex2007 you add fuel and get a bi product of black smoke. take a simple tuner for example. you add a tune with more power it begins to create black smoke but still makes smoke stock. you add the tuners biggest tune and it creates more black smoke goes harder but is still running about the same boost. its not "wasted" power its "potential" power if you added more dense air to that then yeah it would go harder but point being you cant make power on air

  • @urbex2007 in any kind of race/pull truck, it can be tuned so there is very little smoke or at least it cleans up real quick. the reason some people pour some extra in is because it vcan bring the EGTs down a bit. its also simpler to just dump more fuel

  • @atvrider93 More fuel creates more smoke, making EGT's rise. not lower.

  • @CATZR600BRAAAAAP smoke doesn't directly make EGTs rise at all. injecting more fuel cools down the cylinder. its the same idea as runnign an engine rich or lean. a lean engine runs hot.

    Adding fuel does not cool the cylinder at all. Just keep toying with your lil 250cc motors and leave the big engines with the grown ups..

    And the main point I was making is you're trying to talk about these engines like they're a gasser.. It's completely different. I'm not picking a fight (sounds like it though I guess).. I'm trying to educate more than fight. But a truck that smokes will have higher EGTs than one that doesn't.. Ask my 6.0l and anyone else that runs a tuned diesel.
