Beautiful track. I've been picturing a sort of ambient/downtempo/chillout acid stuff in my head for sometime and been hoping to find something like that. Anyone can recommend me some more? Carbon Based Lifeforms does not coun't, but I know they use 303 in some tracks :)

Ambient Techno usually is beat driven otherwise it's simply Ambient. Aphex Twin's early ambient stuff contains similar beat heaviness.

I hate being a genre douchebag, but this is way too beat driven to be ambient techno. There's not much of a sonic texture element to the song, it's just groovy. In genre terms, it's just minimal techno. Acid fits too. I know, I'm a douchebag...

Nah it's okay, I can appreciate your point of view. For me the term ambient techno describes this perfectly and I do honestly think that no one can be objective when talking about genres. However, it might be that I am going against a general consensus on what ambient techno implies. :)

@iorbit Baha, I totally agree. Ambient techno is just very atmospherically focused and usually tries to pull a certain emotion, and also it being ambient doesn't require attentive listening. I guess this fits in there, but then again with how vague genres are it eventually becomes impossible to get exact.

Ambient contains 'timbre', a term from psychoacoustics that describes essentially, the color, texture and hue of the tones. Minimal techno is music that has been dismantled and of which these aesthetics have been deprived. Both are used to evoke certain atmospheres or to invoke certain states of being. Despite their common goal, their paths are different. Ambient or Minimal is to "Konception" what Esotericism or Stoicism is to Enlightenment. A relative process, indeed.

im going to have to agree with you, definitely acid/minimal techno. yes there is some sort of ambient-ish intro to this, but that doesnt necessarily make it an ambient techno track like the Orb or artists like that

@theoogabear I believe the correct term for this style of music is gritchbottle. Though I know some still refer to it as chrchraatx. My grandfather always called it zxatpil, but he was mental.
