  • can someone tell me where is the original?!

  • @itsrosieroller I meant *Duncan Sheik.

  • @itsrosieroller Yeah, well, Duncan Dheik has been around FAR longer than Green Day so technically, I believe (no pun intended) that Green Day sounds like this.

  • @DC11961 You would be incorrect. Green Day's first studio album was released in 1990 though the band was formed a bit before that. Duncan Sheik didn't start his career until 1993. Age wise Duncan is only 3 years older than Green Day's youngest member but age is arbitrary in this matter. Just because they became more popular in the 2000's doesn't mean they weren't around. Their second album released in 92 sold 50,000 copies.

  • But that doesn't mean Spring Awakening isn't amazing. Because it is. And I wouldn't say that the songs (with the harmonies and strings and everything) sound anything like Green Day. It's much more complex then that.

  • I love the rhythmic guitar quality (it's so 90s) that this possesses, it makes it feel vaguely grunge even if it's on acoustic guitar. Awesome.

  • This sounds a bit like Green Day....

  • ah i love duncan singing this song haha:)

  • I love this!!

  • The beginning instrumental sounds like "I believe"

  • almost sounds like it was written for a guy!

  • i want these recordings

  • this demo is so ballin'

I love the way he sings it.

  • Ahhh Duncan Sheik! It's so different hearing it with a guy singing and without the harmonies.

  • I'd love to know the chords to this so I can play it on guitar! Anyone?

  • I need all the album, can u send me a link???

  • bitchin! shuda been a dude singing it all along!

  • I like this version.

  • it is SOOOOO nice to hear a musical theater composer perform his/her own music. gives you a whole new perspective on the song, and they just put so much expression into what they're singing. i saw Stephen Schwartz perform "For Good" from Wicked once...oh my god. I had chills the entire time.

  • you don't even have to see the musical to love the music. i have never seen it (tho i hear its amazing), and i listen to the music every day! i love this version. its so raw and emotional.

  • @hotwingsfromdc1113 ive never seen it but i love the music!

  • @hotwingsfromdc1113 SEE IT!!! IT IS AMAZING

  • hey! this doesn't suck!!! yay!!! :D

  • I like the final version better.but this one also also quite good.

  • Indeed.

  • what are the chords for this?

  • E G D Ax4 for the mama who bore me verses

    C D A A C D Esus Ex2 for the pray that one day part

then on the last "no sleep in heaven or bethlehem" it's C D Esus E

  • i love the Esus, it makes it sound soooooooo epic :)

  • omg i love his voice!

  • ummm. i'm speechless. it's a good song, i really like this song. the only thing is i personally find it weird to hear a guy singing about "mama". of course i'm just used to lea's voice. but it's still a good song. i like it.

  • i was thinking the same thing lol

    but its still really great

  • wow it sound really good when you sing some if the lower harmonies to this! his accent is really annoying though

  • fabulous!

  • I love it!!

  • this is amazing. one of my favorite songs and duncan did an amazing job!
