@DC11961 You would be incorrect. Green Day's first studio album was released in 1990 though the band was formed a bit before that. Duncan Sheik didn't start his career until 1993. Age wise Duncan is only 3 years older than Green Day's youngest member but age is arbitrary in this matter. Just because they became more popular in the 2000's doesn't mean they weren't around. Their second album released in 92 sold 50,000 copies.

But that doesn't mean Spring Awakening isn't amazing. Because it is. And I wouldn't say that the songs (with the harmonies and strings and everything) sound anything like Green Day. It's much more complex then that.

I love the rhythmic guitar quality (it's so 90s) that this possesses, it makes it feel vaguely grunge even if it's on acoustic guitar. Awesome.

it is SOOOOO nice to hear a musical theater composer perform his/her own music. gives you a whole new perspective on the song, and they just put so much expression into what they're singing. i saw Stephen Schwartz perform "For Good" from Wicked once...oh my god. I had chills the entire time.
