  • watch?v=1nZvWsIf7m4

  • Also by Elvis.

  • OMG music took a shitkicking ever since this time.

  • wow, what history is in this video!

  • Ain't no lip syncing going on there, it's the REAL thing!!!

  • Very good...Best Time.....

  • to: mapleavenue77 - You are so right, Gordie Lightfoot is the best singer/songwriter to come out of Canada; an amazing talent. Of course Johnny is also amazing. The best video I ever saw is Johnny's "Hurt".

    Recommendation:

See or listen to Liam Clancy - R.I.P., singing Gordie's Early Morning Rain.

    - in peace and joy

    Joe

  • @JoeSmithAu Pardon? Ever heard of one Leonard Cohen?

  • Too cool. Two of my all-time favorites together. I could have listened to a whole album of this.

  • totally awesome!!!

  • I used to have bells just like Gordon's & BOY WERE THOSE COOL!!!

  • Both are legends, but Lightfoot has always been like my best friend through the hard times and good times with the ladies. A true music miracle.

  • That's what I call harmony and compatibility!!

  • 11111 classic !!!!

  • Holy...fucking...shit! Two of the greatest musical legends of all time, singing together live! Dig it.

  • WOW!

  • I have been asking for days for help. Since I got Windows 7 I CANNOT watch an entire video. I LOVE Youtube and miss it. What am I doing wrong??????????????

  • I was born in the wrong damn generation.

  • this a tenor ? no its a twelver , I paid twelve for it , haha !

  • This was my introduction to Gordon, I was home & sick & I saw a little picture in the paper saying GL would be a guest on the Johnny Cash Show that night & I asked my sister and she said he was good you should watch him. I became a life long fan and saw him about fifteen times in the late 60's, 70's & early 80's before I somehow strayed away and re-discovered him about 3 years ago and the truth is he is the best, a singer/songwriter who has always delivered, he's never phoned it in. The best!!!

  • I loved the Johnny Cash Show back then. He always had great acts, including Rock artists like Clapton, who was rarely seen on television. But his show with Dylan was the best, "Girl From The North Country" duet Dylan/Cash. It's on YouTube, but check out each one because they vary in quality.

  • I can't stop playing this video. This is amazing! How did you get this footage?!

  • This is what TV was like?! I can't stand today's Idol garbage!

This is like heaven. All you need is Buddy Holly to show up and high-five Cash...

  • that is what you get for love me. Who

  • this is my cousin.. he is an asshole

  • @TheChannelOfTylers From what I hear, HIS cousin is also an ASSHOLE.

  • @911fever you are very clever...lol!

  • Live music on television?.....that would take real talent......none exists anymore as far as popular music is concerned,imho.....rather sad....thank god for you tube.....I can remember my youth and smile.....

  • Wonderful nostalgia. Two of my faves

  • Amazed to see this, really. I didn't know the Americans had ever heard of Gordon Lightfoot - and here he is singing a duet with an American legend Johnny Cash.

  • @tedmonday666 In a way we already HAD heard him, this song and "Early Morning Rain" had been recorded by Elvis and would be a fixture in his live shows and Gordon was already a fixture with the folk music crowd. Johnny loved that music, it had a lot of country in it.

  • omg . i

  • das ist einmalig diese Aufnahme...kult...

  • This is awesome! Gordon Lightfoot and Johnny Cash are my Grandpa's two favorite artists of all time! He says Gordon Lightfoot is his favorite artist, and Johnny Cash is his second favorite artist. He really loves both artists alot!

  • im a huge metal fan....but this here is real music

  • Two Legends! Twice as memorable!

  • Glorious. Two wonderful talents respecting each other.

The practices must have been unbelievable.

  • this is just great

  • nothing cooler than playing with the man in black, except maybe dylan. and of course the dead.

  • @zendishwasher2 hey now, don't bring the Grateful dead into this.. hehe

  • 2 Incredible Legends.

  • The best of Canada and the best of the USA. This is a very special moment in musical history.

  • awesome.

  • Two of the most unique, special voices of the last 50 years, and they blend together very nicely.

    Thanks for the post., Manzanita.

  • And, then, one noticed too little who was faster and who was the more sensitive plucker.

  • Epic!!!

  • Those two go together like peanutbutter and......lima beans. I love Lightfoot but the only one that could sing with Cash was his wife.

  • the music talent now? where?

  • @huntersingle quit it with that 'there's no talent in today's music' stuff.... sure there are a bunch of people making fortunes off of uninspired, unartistic bullshit, but there's talent out there. kids my age work hard to make new sounds, make music with soul and find the real art hidden behind the fog of the mainstream music industry. an industry that, by the way, is operated by those who were once the youth that listened to and were inspired by the music of artists such as lightfoot and cash.

  • @elliotrmr

so basically its the same as its always been

  • @elliotrmr True. Anyone that says there's no good music today just doesn't know how to find it. Try a website called Epitonic dot com for starters. Lots of unique, ground breaking, avante garde NEW artists.

  • Wow, this is great. Never heard Gordon sing harmonies like that before. Real music.

  • Whatever happened to a little live music on television?..

    It's great..

  • @RJGrones mtv took over and killed it lol

  • @RJGrones yes, used to be integral part of TV.. now it's a commercial tool.

  • @RJGrones

    two words: Auto tune...

  • @MrScarbrow Actually, it's ONE word. Auto-tune. Wait, I'm sorry to interrupt your fellowship at Tufts curing cancer. My bad.

  • @RJGrones MTV happened

  • A little wierd, their voices are both kinda deep and bassy.

  • Really? I never knew the 2 performed together. Interesting. Fun, even. Thanks for this.
