Yeah, i've decided that i'm gonna pick up a 64GB iPad and 32GB iPod Touch once i start working my ass off this summer. The only reason i want the 32GB touch is because OS 4.0 hates the iPod Touch 1st Gen's guts.

Getting a quick function for what my pay period would roughly be...

Hourly Wage*Hours a Day*Mean time between pay periods

8(my guess)*8(assuming normal 9 to 5)*15

a respectable $960 per paycheck! i'd afford a iPad and iPod Touch in no time at all!

Alfred; have you tried the UStream viewer app? There is both a viewer and an actual broadcaster app. Both are free. No need for Flash.

I currently own a 21.5 iMac for home use but would like a light weight computer for some traveling I will be doing later this year. Do you want to be able to edit photos/movies while you are traveling? Let me know what tasks are on your list, as well as your budget. That's the only way a fair recommendation could be made. I like to film and edit when I'm on the road, so my 13" MacBook works great for me with those tasks in mind.

$2000 for a 30"? there are many simply incredibly 30" screens for ~$1000, what for? its while, and has a fruit on the back. Although the ipad, once it's jail broken or otherwise hacked, this would be pretty cool. I'll stick with my acer aspire one though, $300 and i have a much more powerful computer, a real tactile keyboard, with fedora 12 (linux) way more eye candy and simply incredibly interface, flash, and way more usability.

I'm really not sure what to think of the iPad. i like it for certain reasons, and i hate it for certain reasons. i love how it's comfortably large (and sturdy, according to what i've read) but still weighs less then a pound, i love the bezel (I could clutch it without pushing anything!) and i love the battery life. I hate the lack of flash, i hate the 1GHz processor and the lack of a file browser/etc.

All in all, the iPad confuses the hell out of me. i may get one, i might wait for the slate.

The only thing I don't like about Apple products is that they make the same product with different hard drive size then charge like 100 to 200 price difference. A product like the Ipad should have a minimum of 64gigs. The larger the size of the HDD the more stuff you can fit on it that you buy from Itunes and the App store. So that means that the bigger harddrive is for Apple's benefits not the customer's. But Apple makes the customer pay for the bigger HDD. Make sense?

Not trying to sound rude or disrespectful, but Apple sells products to make money, like many other companies. Why sell something at a price that will only break even? Sure, you get back the initial investment, but you don't make any money. Why is it bad for Apple to make money, but not other companies?

Standard 16 would have been more acceptable if they added in a SD Card Slot for memory expansion. A card slot or card reader cost virtually nothing to put in. But again, Apple plays the game of leaving customers wanting more but noway to upgrade. Instead they have to buy a new one.

Who's to say an SD slot wasn't proposed during development, but they abandoned it at a later time for cost or space reasons? Also, who's to say they won't release an SD to 30-pin connector at a later time?

The thing is, you want more storage, then you can buy the device with more storage. Why do you think there's several options, instead of a single "one size fits all" option?

What do you want to do, put your whole computer on the iPad? I'm pretty sure as successive generations of iPad come out, there will be increase in storage size. For example, the next generation could go 32, 64, 128 GB in terms of available storage. But Apple doesn't just increase storage size, they also add new features. Unless you're the iPod Classic, in which case all the last update for that was an increase from 120 to 160 GB.
