I learnt about the original version because the '08 version had " '08" on the end. Whenever a song title has a year on the end, replace it with the word "original" and prepare to marvel at the wonders that YouTube has to offer.
I've heard this remix before, last time I heard it was in 2003, and I didn't even know about this song in 1992, I don't remember hearing it until around 10 years later. I like this song, but I don't like the 2008 remix. The only other problem is this song reminds me too much of my ex-girlfriend.
Yes, yes it is Donald Sutherland. And that is a testament to how well regarded Kate Bush was, and also how much money (for the time) record labels threw at her. If only the world was now as it was then we might have better music than the current crop of X-Factor wannabes
Thanks for putting this up! So many people don't realise where a lot of music and the samples in it come from but hopefully you've got a fair few into, or at least the knowledge of the origins of this one (and indeed the 2008 version)
You just been favourtized! Just to say, this is the very FIRST song that got me into what we call: rave-techno-electro....oh, cut me favour! I am an ole fart now!
Sounds like you had a clever manager responsible for programming at your cinema in 1985, interesting parallels of older crazy inventor of a mythical machine that the younger character has a story based around, Cloudbusting / Back to the Future. Check out the Kate Bush song to understand more.
Oh my God! Thank you so much for posting this! I loved dancing to this track (it was either the 12" or the album version; can't remember which at my favorite club around a decade ago, but said club (The Continental in Buffalo, NY) was closed four years ago, and was torn down last month. :( I'll always remember the colored lights in the ceiling pulsing to the beat of the music. ::sigh::
This song got stuck in my head back in 1992 when I worked a pizza place. That same weekend I met the second love of my life. When I hear this song, it brings me back to when I was 18 years old. Thanks for the post.
The most recent thing I head by them was a remix for UK girl band "Girls Aloud", for a song of there's called "The Loving Kind" at the end of last year.
where did u aquire this full version from? i bought the original single for this track but it didnt have this extended version on it, only the radio edit.
Ditto on the thanks... I often wondered where Utah Saints sampled their song from as a pre- teen. I think both versions work well with Kate Bush's video. Cheers!
Thank you for posting the original mix. I have loved this song since the first time I went to Ikon in Tulsa,Ok. The first song I really danced to. It has never left me.
I love this song - it reminds me of the cell phone commercial where that guy is stuck in the youth hostel with the "Techno Twins" cause he has no bars on his phone
some-time in the future? i bet someone uses .. oh i dunno maybe dream academy, or anyone with a better tune. i like u.s. but hate plagurism. (sp 1 point)
Youtube appeals to a wide demographic (as does this song after the re-release).
I simply reference his son Kiefer in 24 because I doubt that many 16 year olds would be that aware of Donald Sutherland's long & esteemed career (other than as the matriach of "Dirty, Sexy Money"). I am pretty certain they would not have "Don't Look Down" etc as a cultural reference point.
You must appreciate that younger age groups may not be aware of his status as the male Judy Dench.
Can remember this version coming out originally, and it changed a lot about how I look at music. For me, this is the definative version, no matter what anyone says.
MIDGET & MAD SCIENTIST!! I think you've been listening to 'I can sing a rainbow' listen with your eyes! It would SOUND even better if the girl with nice...
It certainly is. The original song with the "something good is gonna happen" is from Kate Bush's "Cloubusting" single of of her 1985 Hounds of Love album. Does that help?
TOP TUNE!!! This takes me back a few years!! Have the original 12" stored away in the loft somewhere with all my other vinyl!! Hearing this just makes me wanna blow the dust off the old 1210's and spin a few classics, they dont make them like that anymore!! Top upload!! 10/10
I downloaded this song by pure chance. I was after a Kate Bush song, so I downloaded Cloudbusting, and this remixed version. Shame that only people who have heard the original or researched about the song will know who sings the
its not often a 21st century remix is comparable to the original - i'd say the new 1 is better to dance around to, but the original is more profound. i love them both
That's a bit of an understatment cashgenguy01! Without the 'midget' (KATE BUSH - THE GODDESS WE ALL SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN TO) I wouldn't be alive to listen to these remixes :)
This is so much better than the new version, the new one is bland in comparison it has no passion. I was in the shops when I heard the new one and I laughed cus at first I thought hey this is like Utah saints but shit

curious whys this version longer than the normal 3:30 duration one? is that the radio mix?
auxili160 1 year ago
Yes, the radio edit was created by editing down this mix to create a version for radio. This is Utah Saint's own original full length 1992 club mix.
The radio edit is simply an edited down cut and paste taken from this longer mix, the original full length 1992 UK club mix.

"Cludbusting" came out around the same time as "Back To The Future" was showing in cinemas.
It stands to reason that music videos may have been used (as well as cinema advertisments) as a prelude to the main film in UK cinemas in 1985.

Um, by "Original Single", do you mean the Standard 1992 UK CD Single?
That is the one I have, 2 Part CD singles were only introduced that year (& this release was not available in 2 parts).
If you have a UK copy, then all I can suggest is that you possibly have accidentally got a promo CD (possibly via ebay)?
