  • and i can totally relate about those good days where you catch up on phone calls...

  • I have really bad phone phobia...i feel so bad when i have to tell friends i can't talk to them on the phone; i need to have them email me instead because it makes me feel like they think i don't care about them or something...it is so hard to describe to people who don't have it what it is like; but for some weird reason skyping doesn't give me as much anxiety as phone phobia...i agree; email is way more personal because i can speak my heart more in an email than on phone...

  • OMG! This is the bomb diggity......I so share all the traits and so resonated with you about APD. I very rarely make calls to "loved ones" who believe my not calling them is me being my "nomad, distance self" and have no idea and no clue it is because of APD. This is SO misunderstood.

  • i have king-kopetzky syndrome, and i relate to everything you say.

  • I left you a longer message in response to your other video on how people are doing with their Asperger's and all. Don't know how this all works-- am just winging it. Even if I did know how it works, not sure I could make a video unless I read something I wrote. Keep making them.

  • Love this!! I relate to almost everything you say. I have trouble with speech over the phone, stutter, can't say what I want like I can in email, get overwhelmed. Wish I could email you. I am 60, just diagnosed though I told doctors I was autistic 20 years ago and they said I was ridiculous. Argued with my psychiatrist last year when he said no way to Asperger's so I got diagnosed by two other doctors and told him. So much to say. Am working on a book on an abusive relationship that led t

  • @Lnred1 please feel free to write me a personal message. I like mail. Let's talk. I'm 42.

  • My ticks "real slick"

"okay lets see, lets see, lets see"

    "fuckin idiot"

  • Me too. I'm a grad student in Buffalo NY. although i overcome many aspects I cannot overcome my such as the phone! I'm 26 years old and every time I'm on the phone I'm like "WHat! speak up! Slow down" Same thing with meeting people at public places. Any Bar with a DJ I Can't hear what the heck anyone is saying.

  • Thank you for posting this. You did such an excellent job of explaining what it feels like to have an auditory processing disorder. ALR

  • oh see resorvoir dogs !!! aaaahh...you dont need to get into evry cene..its RAW ! :P FUCK THE PHONE !!!!!!! IF ITS SO IMPORTANT WHAT THEY WANT TO SAY, THEY CAN TALK FACE 2 FACE....NOT THAT ITS ANY BETTER...HAHHAA....MØØØØØØ!!!!

  • my boyfriend had capd, hes very ADD. its very funny. He cant understand any sound though. unless we are in a dark room and im talking very clear and their is no back ground noise. But its odd because you talk so perfectly and clear. he doesnt, he pretends deaf. i guess their is a degree or something of capd, ok im ramling. haha. this is a funny video i enjoyed it.

  • @xXRoselynnxMayyXx I read most of what I said in this video, so there ya go. I also heavily edit my videos, but I have more trouble with hearing than speaking. I mostly have a problem with keeping my thoughts on task, and verbal sentence flow as far as speaking, but I have had many years to work on this at 41.

  • I have SA and had phone phobia for a long time. People had to make all of my appointments for me and i'd sometimes ignore people's calls .

  • This video helped me understand a lot about myself! I don't have tics or anything, but I am afraid of the phone. I usually ignore whoever is calling me because I'm afraid that I won't communicate what I want to communicate. I just get very irritated. However, if I get a phone call at work I can usually do a decent job... but I rarely use the phone at work....

but thanks for posting this! I searched phone phobias on youtube and found this. I really appreciate you sharing.

  • I love tics, they are so cute. its like Alex has severe ADHD and Tourettes and if he did cam he'd tic a lot and I found that cute. and Stims are cute too like when Connor shaked and flapped in the car I found that cute.

  • I can totally relate to you, I am like a little child but can be smart and dominant (not aggressive though, but angry at times)

And I prefer to watch movieswith headphones booming or in the cinema, although I have learnt to watch them without a bit (I'd do it for a boyfriend :)

I hate the phone but will use it if its the only way to communicate with a friend.

btu its like when I rung Connor up to check up on him I didn't understand half of the things he said and the conversation was cut short

  • Also, many people don't seem to be able to tell when they are being lied to...as in when they meet someone who flirts with them, so how would they be experts on AS? People are silly and quick to make judgments.

  • Hearing voices through the phone hurts my ears. All I think, the entire time I'm on the phone is, "When will this be over?" It's an unpleasant experience. I love subtitles, too. No one understands this. They want to talk to me on the phone and they don't like subtitles.

  • so refreshing 2 see people who truly understand......

  • I have good days & bad days too, & I usually only like talkin on a phone when im having good days! lol damn that makes 2 of us. & the way I watch a movie, I have to watch it with subtitles with it, does that bother u? lol nice video u look lovely. xoxo

  • I always do better with subtitles.

  • I used to have a vocal tic that was a high pitched squeak, although due to a lot of teasing I received from it, I have mostly trained myself not to do it. I still do it sometimes when I'm stressed. I also have a facial tick where I blink my eyes really fast and kind of grimace. I do my facial tick more when I'm stressed or tired, as well.

  • I occasionally squeak too!...forgot about that one...I am less conscious of it than I am of the one I recorded.

  • I'm also an Aspie and have mild APD. When I talk on the phone, I usually have to ask "What?" a lot.

My mom has bad APD, and she learned to read lips to compensate. When I was young, she taught me to read lips, so now when I'm talking with someone, I watch their mouth to see what they're saying. If I can see the person's mouth, I usually don't have trouble understanding them.

Of course, that usually leads to the comment, "Why don't you look in my eyes when you talk to me?" Lol! Aspieness :)

  • I also posted a video response of my vocal tic....I tried twice..not sure it it took...let me know if it didn't.

  • I have mild face blindness AND CAPD...it makes watching James Bond movies hilariously difficult.. I play a game with my partner, Flakey called...James Bond...Not James Bond...and the auditory processing makes such types of movies seem like complete gibberish...

I have worked as a switchboard operator and i did ok at that...but I can have meltdowns due to phone conversations and they are often a grueling task..I only have one friend who I can talk to and he's Aspie too..I ask routine questions

  • Certainly an honor to receive a comment from my favorite youtuber and uke Queen!

  • Amazing! I'm the exact same. I have always wondered why I only understood movies when watching them at the movie theatre... As a child, I even struggled to hear movies at the movie theatre. I still need subtitles when watching at home.

I only talk to my good friend on the phone, who understands my problems and doesn't mind me asking him 5 times what he's just said. :P I also have to talk on the phone in complete darkness to minimize any distractions.

  • I'm the opposite. I'm better on the phone than in person. Women go gag gag listening to my voice. I'm the Perry Como of the phone lines. lol. Speaking of tics, I had one once and burn his arse with a match to get him out. Oh you mean the other kind of tic? lol. I get a facial tic sometimes. It looks like I am winking. Which can cause trouble sometimes when around a woman with a jealous boyfriend. lol. It really shows up when I drink to much caffeine.

  • I also hate using the phone.

I prefer talking to people in person, because it's a lot easier to understand and communicate.

I have a cell phone and the only person I will always answer it for is my wife.

I will only sometimes not answer the phone for my immediate family.

Everyone else is usually going to voice mail unless I am expecting their call.
