  • could you say that commenting is like talking in class :D

  • THANK YOU

  • I could have used this video a lot last year when I had a horrid teacher for math.

Luckily, we're doing a review, so thanks for helping me *finally* understand!

  • for some reason the only thing i was able to focus on was how great your pen works.

  • For the last example, couldn't you use point-slope equation of a line? So, y-y1=m(x-x1) <---- point-slope....?

  • 8y=2x-24? >.<''

  • YOU JUST SAVED ME!!

    THANK YOU!!!

    I would sub,hut I can't cause it's acting all weird :|

  • Great video! :D

  • how do i figure out if the line is linear or not without graphing?

  • I finally know how to do my homework now. Lol

  • omg thank you for making this vid it totally helped me with slope-intercept my mind goes blank with it comes to slope-intercept form :) Great Job!

  • great video

  • thanks this helped alot

  • Great video thank you it was very helpful

  • is that a dog in the back round XD

  • @MagicBananaOuO Yeah, I have two pugs that keep me company while I'm working.

  • Thank you so much, this video really helped me. I had no idea what to do because I fell asleep in class haha.

  • Thank you, you helped me understand this now

  • thank you so much this video has really helped...i hope you can do more videos on linear equations and how to graph it...i understand now...keep up the good work!!!!

  • thank you so much you really helped me with my homework...i hope you can post more video on linear equations...i understand now but its still good to practice...keep up the good work!!!!

  • Tomorrow i have an essay due, it's midnight right now, and when i get to school I'm going to write it there. Great video loved it! умный инструктор!

  • What if you have y = x^2 - 6x + 10?? How do you graph that???

  • I hate Algebra!

  • darn i try and i still cant get it..... y cant terms or ways things r taught be easier!

  • thank you so much i understand alot better know im a slow learner

  • Thank you so much, it helped me a ton!

  • your math writing is 100 times better than mine

  • I DON"T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What if your numbers are constant?

  • @iAMVyt For how to handle equations with integer slopes, see my reply to imthetube44 below...

  • wow thank you so much, i had a review from last year and this completley refreshed my memory, thanks again

  • Rise over run method yup thanks this helped so much, I have a big test tomorrow all about slope and all that nasty stuff. Thanks!

  • Your great !

  • you solved my problem when so many notes, books and vids can't at 2:40-2:60

    thanks!

  • This really helped :D (your better than most teachers)

  • i lost you real fast

  • Thanks : )

  • what if its y = 2x - 1

  • @TheTwinkeeBoi For how to handle equations with integer slopes, see my reply to imthetube44 below...

  • @robichaudd k i gotta do this math packet for school

  • you are so much more helpful than my teacher, thank you!!

  • You've got such neat handwriting, thanks for the video :)

  • can you make a video about a equation like 2x+3=4

    x-0 y-?

    x-1 y-?

    x-3 y-?

and solve finding the y's and draw them in slope form

  • @irugadark123 For info on how to handle that sort of equation, go to my channel and search the uploaded videos for "graph linear equation containing only one variable."

  • I LOVE YOU

  • all i got from this video= this is a man's hand, and a womans voice. im dumbfounded

    lol

  • Couldnt u just sub in y=0

  • You have no idea how much this saved me! Thanks for your help!

  • you dont know what you doin.

  • My teacher should really come learn how to explain stuff from you....he makes things look so difficult!

  • ur dog has loud feet....thanks for the help

  • wow thanks! you explained that better than my teacher (:

  • why didnt i find this before???

  • Rise and Run, now I understand how to graph a fraction.

  • Haha:) her doggy.

thanks mucho mucho mucho mucho grande. .. i think that's how you say it..

  • thanks know i finally get it that was allot of help

  • You should really take my teachers job :)

  • Thank you so much!!!!! I finally get it now!!!!!

  • Omg ty like 2 weeks ago my teacher was explaining this but i compltetely spaced out and I didnt undterstand wtf weve been doing the past 2 weeks sincere ty from a freshman!!

  • Ok, so what do i do if my b variable is not a whole number? Thanks

  • @xLieutenantMx Then you'll have to estimate the position on the graph as best you can.

  • i find this after im done with the lesson dam it

  • If you are given a whole number as a slope , do you put it as a fraction to make things simple? For example, if i have 4 as a slope, to make it simple, do i put it as 4/1 or just leave it as it is?

  • @imthetube44 Sure, write it as 4/1 to help with the "up 4, right 1" movement for graphing points. In any final answers involving slope, leave it as an integer.

  • i hate my life you get one f in your life and then your grounded and considered a idiot im a straight A student but now my parents think im a failure becuz of one f. im 13 and my bro is 17 and he is a d student and they treat him better than they treat me when i get a bad grade someone tell me what i should say to them thanks=]

  • @sharpies007 You should say school is more a test of memorization than actual intelligence. You just forgot what to do lol

  • IN THE BACKGROUND YOU CAN HEAR A DOG SCRATCHING AT THE DOOR

  • shes cool

  • thank you so much! you helped alot

  • Thank you so much!!

  • omg thx so much

  • Thankyou you just helped me with homework and made it look so easy

  • Denise, you make this all look and seem so easy. Your explanations are deliberate and clear and concise. Quite inspiring. Thanks a million.

  • thumps up if u think there's an annoying pet making sounds

  • I was having the most trouble in school today, and now I get this so much!

  • thank you for taking the time to post these wornderfully helpful videos, not many people can make algebra this easy to understand!!!!!!

  • IM GETTING USED TO IT BUT I FORGET SO QUICK ABOU MATH AND I DONT REMBER ALOT

  • i love math:D thnx for the help/

  • I love how you can explain this better than my math teacher can.

  • life saver!!!! =D

  • I don't get this at all can someone PLEASE help!?!? I've looked online, looked at definitions, looked in my book, asked my teacher & mom's friend for help, and have referred to my notes for help! Nothing works -_- Can anyone help me? PLEASE?!

  • @broadwaysunshine1 you can think of it when you need to get rid of 4x, you can always turn x into zero, which will give you the same result

  • Thank you soooooo much !!!!! w00t !! i really didnt know this.. thanks for uploading ! i got 100% in my exam ! :]

  • you helped me so much just now. thank you very much dude

  • would n=50t+300 be in slope intercept form.

  • @theyourprankness Yes, because it's in the format y=mx+b, with n and t instead of y and x.

  • her dog in the backround hahhaa

  • omg i get this now! yesterdayy i practically criedd cus i didnt know what my hw was talkin about!

  • thanks, but when will I ever need this?

  • thank you so much cause i was lost and you helped. you are my tutor now lol

  • my brain huurts, my teacher didn't explain this can yoouuu pleease help!? y=3x-2 and y=-5 ???????

  • Bah - you get old and forget to do this stuff -_-

  • my teacher gave us an assignment, that x has a value and im so confused about it, how can i solve it?? it goes like this:

    6x+3y=9

    x | -1|0|1|

    y | | | |

we are suppose to use a transposition in this problem........ please help me!!!!

  • @ketsuke77 The main idea is to put in a given value for x, then solve for y. For details on how to solve for a variable by tranposition try googling "solve linear equation by transposition."

  • can i use the transposition???

  • @moramider10 Yes. Starting with 4x-5y=20 you can solve for y (which will give us slope-intercept form) by transposition by moving the 4x to the other side of the equation and switching its sign: -5y=-4x+20; then divide both sides by -5 for y=(4/5)x-4. The transposition gives the same result as subtracting 4x from both sides of the equation.

  • thanks i get it!!!

  • my head hurts

  • what if its x + y = -1

  • ur handwriting is awsome

  • u r such a good teacher : )

  • i wish you were my math teacher!!! great job explaining. you made it so simple!

  • thanx for your help...

  • dude your so much better than my Algebra 2 teacher thanks allot you just prepared me for a test.

  • WOW thanks for this video, really helped me alot.

At first i was very confused on how to graph linear equations but now it started making more sense to me.

  • thanks so much, now I'm not going to fail my math test :))

  • what if you only have one number? y=-5 ?

  • @ortilia If y=-5, then y is always -5 regardless of what x is, so the graph is a horizontal line at the position y=-5. If that sounds strange, try plotting a few points. Choose any x values, and the y value is always -5: (0,-5), (2,-5), (4,-5). Plot these and draw a line through them. It'll be a horizontal line at the position y=-5.

  • excellent job Teach! Got my homework right!

  • sounds like a doggie running around

nice vid, i wish u were my teacher

  • great.ihope to ace the test tomorrow!

  • you're excellent at explaining! and nice and neat also.

  • this is awesome, tnx so much!!

  • Since I got into college I never had to encounter basic algebraic equation stuffs. When I saw this, I can hardly solve it! OMG thanks for teaching me this again!

  • thanks alot really helped :)

  • omg! i love you! i was crying so hard cuz i dnt know how to do this!!! thanks so so so so much!!!

  • is slope also known as x-intercept ??? bcoz in our book it says graphing linear equations using x- and y-intercepts ... is this video same as what our book says ???

  • @TOPlover1516 Slope is different from x- or y-intercept. The x-intercept is where the line crosses the x axis; the y-intercept is where the line crosses the y axis; the slope is the "the change in y values divided by the change in x values" when moving from one point on the line to another point on the line. As far as the terminology, yes, the video is using the same terminology as your book.

  • I understood it a little more when i watched this video.

By the way can you tell me the answers for this three.

    1: x-y=4 2: y=-2/3x1 3: 2x+4y=-4

I got (-2,0);(0,-1) for #3 and (1/-4);(0,4) for #1 but still no answer

    for number 2.

Can you tell me if it's right?

Also can you tell me number 2.

  • good job but a lil complicated for me :P

  • You Rock! Woot now I get it, it all makes sense now :D

  • OMG! Thank you!

My teacher was sick and a sub had to teach the lesson. She didn't explain good and now I'm ready for my test!

    Thank you! :)

  • what are 2 other ways of graphing linear equations?

  • hahah ya theres a bunch of racket in the back. This is helpful though beside the noise.

  • What is that clattering and clunking in the background?

  • @LeoCallie2 It's probably my dog running around on the floor.

  • Haha that's what I guessed but I was not sure. My dogs do the same exact thing.

  • awesome thanks

  • you seem rather good... let's see. i haven't watched the video yet.

  • Oh my god I actually get it! thank you!

  • algebra is already too complex for me gosh. o___O

  • lol

  • Ty, now I know how to do this, Im rdy for my quiz :D

  • Hey, thank you so much. I tried to search this in the internet but i never truly understand it though the resource shows a complete lesson. When I found this video, it really helped me. Thanks! God Bless!

  • great video very informative :)

  • thanks, it helped me a lot

  • me again..how do you graph when the b=one and one half..or any kind of fraction..does the dot go into the middle of the line? And if so, how would you show one third.

  • Yes, for 1 1/2 the dot goes half way between 1 and 2. For 1 1/3 the dot goes one third of the way between 1 and 2.

  • what if the slopes not a fraction

  • Any number can be made into a fraction by putting it over 1. So a -8 slope can be written as -8/+1, which for graphing the next point means down 8, right 1.

  • what if you are given two points how do you graph them? i dont know what my y-intercept is!

  • If you're given the two points to graph, go ahead and graph them just like I graphed the points I found in the video. It's ok if they're not intercepts. For example, if a given point is (2,-4), start at the origin and move right 2, then down 4, then plot a point. Use the same process for the other point you're given, then draw a straight line through them.

  • thx i really helped

  • thanks i'm in 8th grade i'm trying to get an A in algebra. it really helped

  • y=x+2

  • thank you so much that was so helpful

  • Thank you! You are a blessing :)

  • community college? I am in 8th grade!!! no wonder i have a F in Algebra 1.

  • what grade do u teach?

  • community college

  • thanks u helped me a lot.

  • you're a...........

    BEAST!!!!!!!

  • thank you oh so much for this video. it saved my sanity, and several pen's lives. hahahaha

  • are you a teacher? because if your not u should be. i actually understood this :-)

  • yes, i'm a teacher - glad the video helped you :-)

  • y=-6?

  • not sure what you're asking, could you elaborate?

  • i was on point of crying where i had 5 hours without figuring this out thanks so much for putting the vid :)

  • thanks alot!

  • You must have a dog! I hear its paws clicking on a hard floor.... ^_^ ' thanks!

  • Yes, I have two pugs. They keep me company while I work :-)

  • thank you !!!!!! very much very well explained

  • thank u so much beustiful!

  • THANK YOU! You don't know how much this has helped me!

  • The best explaination of graphing the slope of a line we found! You are awesome ... upload more videos. We need them. Steve and Elma

  • im doing this in 9th grade right now

  • Thanks for a great explanation! I don't have to cry myself to sleep anymore:))

  • @Kristiina09 lol

  • I have been in the military since I left High School. I started college not too long ago, and my pre-calc class looked like another language to me. Thank you very much for the help!

  • thank you so much

  • thank u. this helped ALOT

  • I hope you know how much you saved my butt I have midterms tomorrow and this is what kept getting me.

  • thank you very much

  • Thank you so much! I was stuck on this for so long and it finally makes sense! please upload more videos you are so helpful! THANKS! :D

  • um im not sure how to graph 2y+1=3x +5

  • solve for y, then see the info in my reply to paul19781105

  • are u an 8th or 9th grade teacher?

  • community college

  • oh really they teach this in community college, but damn, MATH is my weakest subject of all time

  • Oh man, I love using the slope intercept for graphing. Used to be one of my biggest struggles and once I got the hang of it I loved it.

  • thanks alot please keep making vids if u want but u explain it better than my real teacher!! :) lol!!

  • thx for the help ms.

  • Thank you... it help me a lot....

    i mean. BIGTIME

  • horrible teacher
