  • the music now is horrible :T

  • I was 18 in 1979 and remember that I would give anything to be born just 15 years earlier to be there when it all started with the ska and rocksteady ,like prince buster, skatelites ,alton ellis studio one stuff. All that music that inspired the Specials.Because of them I started to listen to all that wonderful 60's music from Jamaica. The club ska 67 Lp and the intensified records are great albums to see where this music began.

  • I was best friends with Terry Hall in the mid 60's, I lived at 394 Swan Lane in Coventry & Terry & his sister Teresa lived 6 doors down, we played a lot of football together at the Morris common, Teresa may remember that she had a mad crush on Asa Hartford who played for West Brom at the time, I always knew that Terry was gifted & would be successful, it has been more than 40 years since I last spoke to him & it would be great to make contact again, all the best from Craig Smith.

  • awesome

  • There was good music back then and there's good music now as well... Just stop bitchin' about it.

  • This is a "violent" video. =p

  • My definition of music: can you whistle the melody?

  • This video is a favorite on Guyana

  • Two Tone...Proper Multi-cultural.

Fuck black or white to unite,

  • Classic. Nuff said.

  • The Specials were one of my favourite 2 tone Ska bands, I loved Madness too. Those were the days, I loved every minute of the early 80's because of the music like this.

I'm nearly 50 now, but my 12 year old son listens to this music, he found it himself I didn't encourage him. he asks me why all the good music happened years ago?

  • rude boyz rule

  • this is what its ALLLLLL about

  • im only 13 ive been listening to the specials since i was about 3 and i love this music i went to see them in london lat night at alexandra palace i loved it

  • Im 16 and I just got back from seeing the specials which was my first ever concert at Cardiff :D I loved every second of it! TAKE ME BACK!!!!! THIS IS REAL MUSIC!!!!

  • I'm 22, but that's irrelevant. I wish i was born in the future so i could have all the music from the past present and future!

  • @randomtask32 But then you wouldnt have your future music,it would still be the present stuff........

So since you allready have the past and present music...whats the point?

Just teasing, though I am right ofcourse.Just enjoy all that there is to enjoy in such an easy way nowadays! No tapes for you,or expensive records/cd,s.Endless searches for that one.....Its all on youtube, for free! I would have killed for this in my time(41 years of age).Enjoy!

  • this is true music.

  • best specials song.

  • im sick of saying the best ska

  • Najjaci ste!!pozdrav iz Gornjeg Milanovca,Srbija!!

  • This is ska. Pure, Simple, Timeless, and Brilliant.

So fck off all you smelly old nonces pretending to be 14. And if you are a young one..great.. good luck to you..but don't keep telling us wiser dudes how immature you are. Just enjoy ffs.

  • @worldcoup It's Two Tone or if you prefer Ska revival or as Neville Staple describes it in his biography the 'second wave'

  • i foooking love reggae

  • The lyrics hold so true these days :(

  • terry hall musical genius

  • They're elders, but they're the fucking best ska band

  • wow the days when we were young music seemed much better then, great to hear and ive got tickets to see them.....

  • I have smoked weed every day for the last 15 days, listening to this, and made a point in hearing this everyday.

  • quality choon specials are legends in there own rite!!

  • Nice song, very nice. Anyone know the Snuff cover? :-)

  • UK Riots 2011..how has anything changed MegaHayley17? - and what's worse - is that you got 58 thumbs up for a defeatest attitude. The only reason your generation has no band like The Specials is cos you're all a bunch of pussies.

  • @RAM71

Nothing to do with the generation being pussies, the problem is the masses musical tastes, so if anyone does any start any ska bands that sound like this from my generation, they are most likely to stay out of the mainstream because record companies reckon they wont sell any records. Its all about making money and always will be. Thats why a lot of creative talent is wasted or sidelined becuse the band sounds too unique.

  • @RAM71 Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn, that's harsh. Pretty legit, though, I suppose.

  • The first record I brought aged 12 - changed my life - I tracked down all the old original ska records - Started working for Fords aged 16 - The "brothers" on the assembly line were pumping out the rocksteady day and night - I visited Jamaica aged 21 - 43 now Still cant get enough Reggae and my kids are into it too .

I just read Neville Staple's book - brilliant

5 people can do one .

  • Ahh

  • 34 years old and living the fucking dream thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • @ch7u 1 guy knows who the fuck rebecca black is

  • @keinNAZISCHWEIN is she black?

  • How the hell could 5 people not like this? Cloth-eared idiots! :D

  • God, I love ska... from a fanatically Anglo-phile Yank. I live for EastEnders.

  • @blackudder: weren´t in the 60s the police uniforms with black and white hatbands?

  • From a older person, take it from me, you haven't been born at the wrong time. Its all there for you now, you just have to search for it. All the best, and good luck.

  • First record I ever bought!!

  • best ska band ever, shame they were from coventry, saw them live fantastic and this was one of their best songs

  • @qooq88 you arse..honestly, how would these songs have been written if thet didn't grow up in Coventry? Durr!

  • wicked tune ;-)

  • this was the music i grow up with went to Haverstock hill school same as Sugg s from madness ( Graham) !! and meet up with trhe Boys from, Bad Manners and started working for a PA Company that surported UB40 on their 1st trip south Played the HOPE NAND ANCHOR in islington nort London Memories eh ????

  • nostalgia and old feeling i cant believe with that wee number

  • what genre is this?

  • @hummanbird14 It's late 70's - early 80's Ska from England. Isn't it nice?! The Specials really are my favorite. :)

(they have also been called 2 Tone and New Wave..But I just think of them as Ska)

  • @sanjurodog they are 2-tone, they coined the title.

  • @mischiefmayhemsoap Yes....I...I mentioned that. Didn't I? Don't be rude now, rude boy...lol

Interesting, that they in fact, coined the phrase. :)

  • @sanjurodog Ska is a mainly an acoustic musical form dominated by brass instrumentation, 2-Tone is a Punk Rock/Ska hybrid

  • @1964chrissie You're smart. I like you. Let's be friends Rude Boy.

  • I wish I could've been born 20 years earlier :(

  • @pigofthehouse No you don't...cos you would be an old fool like all the rest of us rude boys lol

  • This could be my favorite specials song right here.

  • This is one of the most annoying songs i've ever heard, simply because it stuck in my head for days and drove me to insanity.

1 week later, and i'm cured of it, and i can listen and re-live/love it all over again :')

    One of their best, classic!

  • can people just listen to the music and stop critisizing the opinions of others? seriously...

  • Normally, I enjoy ska...the specials aren't that good sounding to me. Think i'll stick to Streetlight and RBF XP

  • @Lowen264 Maybe if you actually listened to the lyrics and the music you'll understand the message of there songs.

  • @Lowen264 I wouldn't call that ska

  • Normally, I enjoy ska...the specials arent that good soundin to me. Think i'll stick to Streetlight and RBF XP

  • @Lowen264 twat

  • @Lowen264 those bands are influenced by 2 tone.

  • 4 people need a habanero suppository!

  • @1964chrissie

  • @drfishyfishyfishy I might just do that !

  • @catpainblackudder01 fuck the police? You know what. it dosent mather if you like the police or not, cause face it without them it woud be caos everywere,,,and you, me and "some" of the people on this page woud be dead.

  • @minigiganten I take it you would just go BERSERK if there wasn't a police force? If not then why do you think you are better than everyone else?

  • @gerryboy3699 are you serious?

  • @minigiganten are you?

  • we gotta fight for change.

  • @marcusvegetable1 We do fight for change.....against ourselves! when its something really important we DO NOTHING!!

  • proper music real legends luv it to bits!!

  • proper music real legends luv

  • i like cookies.

  • great memories of these times

  • i remeber hearing this song when i was about 10 and loved it but never new who did it till today, the specials for the win!

  • And I tell you: I' d like live in the 60's motherfucker only that.

  • I'm glad to see I'm not the only under 18 who loves ska/reggae/rocksteady/ music before 2000. It would've been cool to be a teen then, but right now I'm listening to the specials for free - there are some benefits of modern day (even if not musical).

get your DM and Polo's and live it on!

  • @MegaHayley17 Nobody cares how fucking old you are. I'm 17 too and you don't see me going around every song that was made before the 80's and brag about how I have elite musical tastes for such a young age.

  • @MegaHayley17 Never too late

  • @MegaHayley im 17 and i agree, im the only one in my friends who wears DM's harringtons and braces, its not fair haha

  • @MegaHayley17

Think your self lucky, I may have been born at the right time for music but I'd give that up to be 17 again. At least your knees don't creak when you try to dance to it.

  • @marthamonkeysmate alright i want sum money and maybe sum drugs and i think i might be able to do that

  • @MegaHayley17 Music like this really makes you appreciate being born when we were. Back then there was disco's playing this type of music as well as all the c thatall this has gonehart music, which was mostly good every week without fail. Its kinda sad now, disco's have practically vanished. You would have loved them. Great to know you appreciate 'our' era's music :-))

  • @MegaHayley17

    Absolutely agree.

  • best time to be teenager compared to todays shite we really were as one!

  • Its a pitty there is no solo organ in this albumversion, like on the 45"rpm single version, greetings from zwolyforia (NL)

  • This Is a great song, but this album version is not as the single version that was in the charts in 1980, on the single version you can hear the difference, especially in the chorus you can hear jerry's keyboard riff.

  • Most imaginitive music era...1977- 1985. Rock/ Heavy Metal(iron Maiden, Ac:Dc etc), Mod revival(60's bands, Lambrettas, Secret Affair etc), Punk(Sex Pistols, The Damned, Clash, Exploited etc), Indie(Echo & the Bunnymen, The Smiths etc), Ska/Reggae(Bob Marley, Specials, Madness etc), Synth(Depeche Mode, OMD,Kraftwerk etc), Dance/Disco(Donna Summer, Chic, Rose Royce etc), New Romantic(Spandau Ballet, Culture Club,Visage etc), even Rock'n Roll/Rockabilly (Elvis, Tenpole Tudor, Stray Cats etc)

  • nothing ever change oh...no...

  • Jerry Sadowitz who appeared in Terry Blair&Anouchka's video of Ultra Modern Nursery Rhymes, complained that this video infringed upon his copyright. Jerry's been replaced.

It has taken 5 months to do this!

Although angry with Jerry, I am also grateful because, I would have never learned Adobe After Effects and graphic animation. So thank you Jerry!

Jerry has been replaced by a number of colourful characters! Marc Bolan even makes an appearance! Bet he won't complain??!!!

  • Nothing ever change.

  • (each chord represents 2 strokes on the downbeat)

Verse: Bb, Bb, Gm, Gm, Eb, Eb, F, F Bb, Bb, Gm, Gm, Eb, Eb, F, F

Chorus: Bb, Bb, Gm, Gm, Bb, Gm, Eb, F

The Bridge after the Chorus is: Eb, Dm, Eb, Eb

  • This way I can play when I come back, save you guys a step looking for it.
