LOL I'll definitely be watching the thickness of the chai I'm served next time. Loved this video! I went to India recently and this is EXACTLY how it looks there. Now it's my turn to try this- and I'm definitely making it thick :-)
Just wanted to say thanks, Jeff. Not only for the instruction on how to make Chai Latte, but for the presentation as well. Video was very well done indeed. Easy to follow and more entertaining than others I've seen.
Made it! Tastes amazing. Its hot right now so it reminds me of hotcoco (used lots of milk, haha) with a clean spice taste, especially with the aftertaste. Mmm. Thinking of letting it cool and icing it :)
@CaptainCasca I like to make whip cream and put it on it some times. UYou can just buy heavy whipping cream and put some in your blender and maybe add a hint of sugar and vanilla or just sugar or just plain. Whip it up and put it on top! Yummy!
@jeffmara hi! thanks a lot for your reply.. my email-address is: armin.lauss@chello.at
do you have more music like that??? i love it sooooooooooo much, do you know how to find them here on youtube too? i wanna dance with it and to it! :-)
@Bugzette Your welcome and I hope you love it. My wife and I are chai lovers too. I hope you like it. By the way, It may work better if you don't grind the spices.
I will try your recipe. Looks interesting. I made CH today, but it doesn't tastes that great yet. I'm trying to perfect it. I used cardamom instead of cloves and I didn't use ginger. Additionally I used 1 cinnamon stick instead of 1/2.
@gongxia649 well you can play around with the spices. The recipe I showed works better if you don't grind it and just throw it in the pot. I think it is important to use cardamom, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Bon Apetite!
Yes, its a latte without milk, how terribly clever of you, but that's how I like it, I gotta get it before they add the milk cos they make it in a huge pan...
I guess its just chai then, but chai just means tea...;o)
did he just put that ridiculously large quantities of spices just for 2 cups of tea? Then the westerners complain of Indian food being spicy...you can grind up the masala, it needs only a pinch of masala per cup of tea
@aparaajita10 he made it the way he likes it. Perhaps it is your cheap "indianness" that has you skimping on the ingredients! Trust me, I am brown and I know how cheap Indian people can be.
@guitarguy1381 Well I know how it works...when you do it, you are being money savvy/money smart/. When Indians do it, they are being cheap. Well reminds me of what a popular American wrote in her book...fits perfectly with you attitude (so well does it match you, that it could very well have been your quote) "my shit smells like strawberry ice cream & your ice cream smells like shit"...LOL
@aparaajita10 YOu obviously did not bother reading my entire post, because if you did you would have known that I am also NOT of caucasian decent. I just happen to be the type of guy that doesn't sugar coat people's habits just because I happen to be of that persuasion.
@guitarguy1381 You read "white?" BTW, Indians from India used to be considered till < 20 yrs ago. The definition of "caucasian" was changed just recently. Any way, that is not what is in my post...I said american. you disclose your color where none is required. I still stand by my post u are american, I guess you've never heard of something called nationality, which is different from ethnicity, & from religion, & from socio-economic status. why am I wasting my time on this myopic personality?
@aparaajita10 The real question should be, why are you wasting your time attempting to define SOMEONE else's ethnicity or nationality, when you clearly do not have a clue who they are? Maybe there's a cure for foot-in-mouth syndrome? Chai? (don't cheap out on the spices, by the way).
@guitarguy1381 That's really funny. I still will continue to use spices the way I do. What any one does is their problem. Though it's interesting to see how people behave in different conditions. It somehow reminds me of a fellow i met in college once, he put 14 tsp of sugar in his cup of tea, & then began to drink it without stirring. We pointed out that he should stir it, he said "who likes too sweet tea?" All this is subjective. Some put salt in the food, others like the food in the salt. O)
@aparaajita10 Are you blind? Caucasian was always considered someone who is of WHITE skin tone and of EUROPEAN descent! Last time I checked, India wasn't part of Europe, but Asia! Therefore they would be considered Asian or Middle Eastern. By the way this is a ridiculous topic for two morons to be fighting over on a video about Chai! So please, have a very nice day!
@Freakgrl04 I did not make these qualifications, & frankly, I don't care, for when it comes 2 the more imp. concepts of life, this doesn't matter 2 me personally. I said it because that is what i was told when I was to fill that out in college. As far as I knew, there're plenty of ethnicities & religions & nationalities, but only 3 races of humans, caucasian, negroes & mongoloid, & were based on several physical characteristics.. If something changed due to new findings, I really don't know.
I like your idea to grind all for stronger flavor.I can make it so strong some times it can burn your mouth. I usually cook everything in a slow cooker on high for two hours. Then add milk .I'll try your way and see if I like it better.
You know actually the recipe I gave works best when you don't grind it up in a coffee grinder, When you grind it up it is stronger, so you might like it that way. I guess if you cook it for 2 hours it becomes very strong. I have never tried it. It would be interesting, but I don't know if I can wait that long.
i think Butterfly was being sarcastic ,,, re: two hours in a slow cooker ... you non believeing caucasian people are so fuckin stupid all you do is invade other peoples countries and then make a fuckin mockery of their culture and traditions ... just stick to your pee like american tea.
@ADAMSONOFMAN please address this guitarguy1381 too. My post is just above his. I think you are better than me in addressing these issues. I like your style sir. Thanks.
i can only buy ground cardamom in my town, do you know how much I need to add in this recipe? and does it turn out okay with rather soy or rice milk? I will drink regular milk if it is required in a recipe but I prefer soy
also: thank you for showing how to make it with all the fresh ingredients. many others only show how to make it using a mix
no. you just cut it up into a chunk and throw it in the pot. also it is not necessary to grind up the spices, it will work just fine if you just put them in the pot too. Let me know how it works.
masala chai [spice tea] is a horrible concoction..
Try just white cardomon instead and use tinned evaporated or condensed milk instead of normal milk, Indians drink with recipe all the time, only Kshmiris drink masala chia and in winter [rarely]
Great video. we like it very much. my lovely wife always want to watch this video. she always want to knew how she can make indian tea. and now she know it :-)
