I also carry a makita impact. Besides being a small, lightweight screwgun, it also has a handy light for which I have done many a dungeon crawl with only that to light my path (I have a tendency to lose/break flashlights). Great vid btw, thanks for sharing Dr.Z
Cool. I use a tool belt. I have that crimping tool too (a channel lock brand) and i love it. It cuts copper better than my klein wire strippers. I have that klein flathead, and also a generic flathead and phillips which I am considering upgrading to the insulated high volt type, just in case. Some other stuff I like in my bag are two gearwrench box type ratchets, just the 2 wrenches have 8 sizes.
I've gotten my pouch down to half the size of that one in the video and still not scared to go into any mechanical room or up on any roof and fix any Controls issue there might be. I always say that, after 13 years, if I can't fix it with the few tools I talk about on my Blog, then * I * don't need to be fixing it! LOL
What's the name/model number of that pouch you've got there? I've got a bigger tool bag from CLC that I keep all of my tools/tinning stuff in. But, since I'm switching to service soon, I'm not going to need to carry that heavy battleship with me all the time. Yours looks like a perfect smaller pouch.
I carry an old tylenol bottle w/ several spade clips, wire nuts...Also, add a 3/8 in nut driver...that 3 way nut driver is garbage, I bought one a RE Micheal...3 klien stubbies (1/4, 5/16 & 3/8 worth the extra space/weight)I have same crimpers (Harbor Freight, $7, AND they work great for 3 years)..I use bigger inspection mirror...add 6 zip ties...Lasor t'mometers are like frisbees...(fun to play with, but not very accurate)..valve core removal tool in inspection bag so I always know where it is
@aplombguy you damn right it is! lol funny thing is i got it for 90$ from Refrigerative Supply.. and they charged an extra 10$ for the shoulder strap. It was a domino affect when i brought it to work for 2 companies, 2 guys then 3 guys at current company have purchased the same Veto pro pac xl after seeing mine. it truly is a great tool bag
Well this reminds me that A/C season is almost here in Rochester NY! the temps have been below 10 degrees here the last few weeks but I have already scheduled 5 cleaning's and sold 1 new A/C system go figure? I like your pouch though I need a new one this year for running A/C calls

Bigger mirror yes but tape up the exposed parts. BTW CLC is a good brand for tool pouches.

Tight set up. Have you ever bothered to weigh your pouch?
I haven't but I think I will the next time I have my scales out.
Klein wins my vote for best pouches. I have been using one of their pouches everyday for more than 10 years and it still is in perfect shape.
Good advice about refer gauges. Techs are to quick to hook up. You risk damage every time you open a refer system. Especially with R410A.
tstatech 1 year ago
@tstatech I'll have to weigh my pouch. It's a little heavy but it's better than having to walk back to the truck over and over again.
