When we were in Florence we climbed the Duomo as well. Like you guys, when we hit the spiral staircase we really thought that was it. The top would be at the end of the spiral. Sadly that was not the case. completely worth it though.

wow , memories , when i was in there in the exact same spot were you two were looking down at the floor i got such a crazy anxiety attack, i think it was a mix of all the climbing , the tight spaces, the suicide glass and its just so high up. but once i got outside it was heaven , i knew right then and there i was going to ask the love of my life to marry me there. i think you know the vibe im talking about when your in FLOR, IT looking over all of Rome you get this amazing feeling lol :)
