  • um did you see five silence at the end?

  • hey why, apologiest to Matt Smith Red Dwarf if the BBCs second best sci fi, after Doctor Who!!?!

  • @ejcmoorhouse This was produced before we saw a single episode with Matt Smith, so "with apologies" means, we were apologizing in advance in case we portrayed him in a bad or improper light. Which as it turns out... we didn't.

  • This is one very "second" video. =p

  • Very well done, :O)

14 people don't have a funny bone, lol.

  • Someone please tell me, why does this work so well!!!

  • @kaw203 It's about timing and similarity of movement. I cut it virtually to the frame of the original Red Dwarf trailer, and filled it will similar movements from the BBC Trailer. It's like what they say about comedy... it's all about timing.

  • nicely done

  • I am realy enjoying all these differant version of intor and stuff using the red dwarf music :).

  • hmm rimmer would be good as a the doctors companion

  • That was cool.

  • that fits rather better than you'd expect... well done that man!!

  • hah, that actually kind of works

  • I love Doctor Who and I love Red Dwarf. This is just brilliant

  • omg lol that is awesome!

  • my two favorite shows in one :)

  • I normally hate cheap youtube splices with a passion, but I gotta say, that works! :)

  • I've always thought that Chris Barrie would make a pretty good Doctor...

  • Don't see it

  • F'ing amazing!

  • that was arsome they realy go togever

  • Nice! Two of the best shows on the planet, mashed up into one! I think yours is the best one I've seen so far!

  • It looks so real, like it belongs together. I think in my opinion that in one Episode at least if its just a cameo, red dwarf should be there. Like a robotic factory with an old mechanoid or rimmer's H. Or starbug. something like that. Or the London Jets shirt.

  • Inspired, mate :-)

    also,

    0:45 "blabla bla blablabla!"

  • Two of my favorite British shows put into one. I should be dead of happiness by now.

  • Funny

  • haha this is is quality. Adding 2 of the best TV series together, awesome!

  • APOLOGIES to Matt Smith? I'm sure he'd be honoured to be coupled with the glorious Dwarf! :p Ahh lovely mash up of two of the best progs. Went very nicely together! Loverlyyyy.

  • OMG that fits so well its almost criminal! :) :D

  • awesome

  • Ha Ha ha I LOVED IT !!!!

It really appeals to my love of obscure sci-fi

  • brilliant

  • Pure genius <3

  • funny thing red dwarf has used old doctor who stuff here u go watch?v=hu99ceQYk9o

  • it smegging fits!

  • XD omg lol perfect.

  • There is one question left unanswered, will it blend?

  • Comment removed

  • @steven87gill1 It's red-fucking-dwarf, why would they be ashamed?

  • Brilliant! Well observed!

  • I like it!

  • funny bit at 0:45

  • awesome, absolutely smashing!!!!

  • It's amazing what kind of mood can be set for a show just by changing the soundtrack!

  • A Red Dwarf/ Doctor Who crossover would be great idea for a future Children in Need sketch, especially since there are plans to do another another series of Red Dwarf.

  • Matt Smith's run is exactly like Red Dwarf, filled with comedic thrills

  • Wow, yeah....that works astoundingly well. Fantastic!

  • Absolutely Great! It's just...great! :D *slaps knee and tries not to laugh out loud in the library*

  • that was glorious!

  • LOL, works surprisingly well.

  • This is awesome. Red Dwarf is my favorite show and so is Doctor Who.

  • brillant made melaufgh

  • I'll never look at this trailer in the same way ever again!

  • I don't see the need to apologize to Matt smith for this! it should be an honor that he got placed in context with one of the greatest shows of all time

  • I can see why you'd think red dwarf. Especially with the explosions at the same time.

  • lol absolutely brilliant. even the show special effects look "red dwarfy" when put beside the red dwarf theme.

  • The creepy thing is.....they actuailly match. good show

  • Would love them to do a comic relief cross-over or something!

  • @firewolfstone There are a lot of cross-overs that need to be done. Phantom of the Opera, Harry Potter (If they can somehow do Agatha Christie, than HP or JKR should pose no problem), CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien....

  • this is great LoL

  • lol I never get sick of wathcing these, I think it also works cos RD's collages were alot of sci fo moments same as Doc Who too, and theres alot of funny Who moments you can easily play underneathe the RD theme and it still makes perfect sense,

  • @mellowNdark This guy has commented on every single fucking red dwarf/doctor who crossover video that I can find. His videos aren't even that good. I loved this one, it worked insanely well, unlikemellowNdark's videos.

  • The Red Dwarf theme really goes well with this trailer. Anyone else think Ace Rimmer would make a great companion for the Doctor?

  • @SavageSaboteur01 That would be fab. Surely the beeb could do a cross over for the next comic relief, would be much better than this year's offering.

  • lmao well done, I was laughing my arse off, I thin k ots cos the RD theme is cool as well as funny so you can pretty much play it over any collage of scenes and make it funny, I love the way u added in the chalked in roman numerals like series 8 had too lol

  • WHY THE HELL DOES THIS WORK SO WELL??!!

  • smeggin brilliant

  • Lister really could have used the Doctor.

  • @davidls11 Woops, thumbs downed you... Soz meant to thump up

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it all right if I make a series 5 red dwarf version? I'm gonna give you credit for inspiring me. :)

  • @DoctorWhoCenter2011 Certainly... LOL Believe me, I'm not the first nor the last to mash up Doctor Who & Red Dwarf. Drop me the link when it's done.

  • @Kelvington

I made it. (I wrote this on my other account)

  • @mellowNdark You don't hold a monopoly on Doctor Who / Red Dwarf videos...

  • Can you imagine if the TARDIS landed aboard Red Dwarf? And the Doctor has to save the crew from crashing into a black hole or something (cause let's be honest, they're too incompetent to do it themselves). If they made that as an episode it would be brilliant.

  • Doctor Who is great, Red Dwarf is great.

I see no problems with this.

  • They really should do a Red Dwarf & DW crossover sometime, even if it's just for Children in Need

  • @Daithi24 or Red Nose Day.

  • @Daithi24 you say that as if it was a bad thing

  • @Daithi24 YES! YES! We must have this now!

  • If you sync up the Eccleston/Tennant intro with the Red Dwarf scene properly, they match almost perfectly.

  • Why would Matt Smith expected to receive an apology for this? I have no idea!

  • Nice job.

  • @mellowNdark you leave the same comments on every Dr. Who Red Dwarf opening montage video posted. Perhaps you came up with the "idea" but your videos are crap compared to the videos of those you accuse of being thieves. Their video picture quality is better for one, and I find those author's choice of clips included much more insightful than any you have included in your THREE video attempts at this.

  • You moronic peasant he is right you did rip these videos and upload them then try to say they are similar and that is hilarious because at the very end it has the persons name who made it which proves why I find laughing at people online so funny....the stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

  • hmm come to think about it matt smith does come across as rimmer and amy could be cat O.o

  • Funny, I had a similar reaction when I first saw this.

  • OMG this is great! Reminds me of Red Dwarf V when Starbug explodes :) Love DW and RD!

  • Love it but the new doctor who sucks!

  • @mellowNdark I don't have one... In fact I don't have any videos uploaded to YouTube so I have no idea what you're referring to when you say "YOURS" or how it makes me a "FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" haha. I'm just saying, your videos suffer from a lot of tiling which is a result of your ripping process I assume. You do put a lot of effort into your vids, but without decent picture quality, they're almost laughable... and not in a good way.

  • @mellowNdark Dude the point of this is that the trail is cut together in a way that's reminiscent of the title sequence to Red Dwarf. And if you want to talk about FAILs, try how the video quality of your "efforts" some how get worse as you upload newer versions of Red Dwarf vs. Doctor Who. At least you can tell what's going on in this one.

  • @mellowNdark Oh no not a thief at all, because mine are really good! It's only stealing if you make it the same or worse, if you improve on an idea then it's a tip of the hat or an homage. LOL Actually I had never seen yours before, so it was just a lucky coincidence we made similar videos.

  • @Kelvington

He's been going on every Doctor Who Red Dwarf video and saying "Oh, this is "my" video, you thief" My god. He's such a troll. (MellowNDark is a troll)

  • OMG LOL! and it was in time

  • i hate newest doctor

  • Ahhh, this video makes me happy. :D

3 people missed the like button. This does not make me happy. :/

  • Exactly right!

  • love it, love it

  • This is wonderful and really works plus the lyrics seem like a good fit for Doctor who as well, he could do with a holiday.

  • Lol love it. Quite good... they should include the song in the titles of Dr. Who. Just makes you think "Wow, this looks good. Worth to watch." Makes it more action packed like.....

  • DUDE!! That was EPIC!! And funny :) I love both Doctor Who and Red Dwarf so this is brilliant.

  • Good merge.

  • Thats amazing how well that actually works.

  • LOVE THE MUSIC!!! =]

  • lol love it. and am sooooo loveing the new serise best so far

  • that was so funny it made me cry in a happy way

  • This worked amazingly well! :) Almost too well, like someone was planning this 0_0. And did anyone else just see Matt Smith shouting "SMEEEEEEEEEG!!" ?

  • ...I have no idea how to respond. But I liked & favourited it, so there ya go =)

  • Brilliant! Epic laughter time!

  • 5 million starz.

  • Saw this in my faves; lol well done.

  • Fantastic! 5 stars.

  • that went disturbingly well!

  • He has a point...

  • i think that went very well

  • That did work veeery well. :D Awesome video!

  • HAHA my god that is true!

  • Hey I thought that was really good!

  • That's astoundingly brilliant! You're so right how well it goes together.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

  • Oh yes! I can see it too, now you mention it. Well done :-)

  • i love it lol

  • Lol I'm in the States, but Red Dwarf was the shiz-nit! LOL Doctor Who rules two! I've been watching since Sci-Fi channel ran Tom Baker eps in the early 90s!

  • @sixstanger00 SciFi never ran classic Doctor Who. Maybe you're thinking of PBS or some other local station in your town. SciFi would never touch Who, that pissed off lots of people. They initially passed on the 2005 series the first tim the BBC approached them.

  • @sagaofbluewing Ummm....check yourself, sagaofbluewing. Sci-Fi DID RUN Doctor Who back in the 90s, just after the channel was launched. Sci-Fi actually had decent programming then, like Space: 1999, Battlestar Galactica (the original), The Prisoner, Amazing Stories, etc. But at 1 PM on weekdays, they hosted "The Doctor Who Hour," where from 1 to 1:30 was an episode of Doctor Who, and from 1:30 to 2 was a classic cliffhanger like "Zombies of the Stratosphere."

  • @sixstanger00 The ran Tom Baker episodes only, from "Robot" to "Androids of Tara," because they were the only ones available to Sci-Fi at the time. Don't tell me Sci-Fi didn't run classic Who, because I have Robot thru Androids of Tara RECORDED on VHS!!!!

  • @sixstanger00 Didn't see this reply earlier. Would it be possible for you to upload a small clip of this to prove it? Don't take this personally, but I just won't believe this until I see it myself and I'll be pissed off that I missed out on it.

  • @sixstanger00 I'm pretty sure but I double-checked to be sure. No one can prove a negative. If you can prove me wrong on this one, I'll gladly concede. I had SciFi back then and not only do I know they never showed Doctor Who, but many people requested it and SciFi issued several statements over the years saying that they would never carry it. BBC tried for years to get SciFi to pick it up but they wouldn't because they felt it was below standards, even though SciFi regularly showed worse shows.

  • I think that trailer looked very Dwarfy and a lot less Timelordish.

  • Yeah funny that... Smeg Head!!!

  • awesome forehead, Matt xD

  • Nice!

Yeh.. Appologies to Matt Smith too.. For saying: "Please go & buy some Vodka in Large Quantities, & Drink yourself to death". Oh..Tut.. I almost forgot.. He can't buy Alcohol yet can he.

  • @therealKINDLE I know it's nearly a year later, but had to comment. Matt Smith is English...that means he can drink since he was 18 :P

  • @Musemistress Not if he is in America.. If you're going to be pedantic! Look, the point is still the same. NU hU sucks. And it's a crime that this awful rubbish is even associated with the Classics. You don't think the same blah blah I know. But it's a FACT. The Classics piss over the new crap EASY! We created a legacy, Pioneered Music, made effects from no budget, wrote some of histories most incredible Science Fiction, etc. What has this done? Oh yeah! Introduced Love. What a cop out.

  • rofl xD

  • that makes series 5 worth watching

  • with that music, the trailer's just funny, isnt it? is that good? probably

  • Genius....lol That is epic...i kinda want to know how you're mind works lol ok....i'm dieing of laughter here.....hahaha

  • Thanks. There have been lots of people wondering how my mind works. And more than a few that would suggest it doesn't. :)

  • Congratulations on possibly the first Matt Smith mash-up on YouTube.

  • Im not sure what to say about this Video . But i will say that it is , for me , abit funny , having a Trailer of Episodes we've yet to see mixed with the awesome Red Dwarf Theme .

  • Smashing stuff Rick =D

  • This works remarkably well.

  • Hahaha! I have to see it now :)

  • Ha! Very good!

    fv

  • You could always down grade the quality on the new who video for the red dwarf cross over.

  • Fantastic!

  • DUDE!!!! This kicks ass!!! I laughed my face off!!!! Good show!

  • Smegging Ace....!

  • awesome!....actually, its funny....in the second half of end of time when they beam up to the cacti ship.....i thought "hey!...it's star bug!"...lol

    ....love your work!!!

  • THE SECOND I saw that, I thought 'Star Bug" as well! I'm glad that it wasn't just me! I fully expected to see Holly on the view screen running the ship! I should have put that into this video as well. Maybe I'll make a version just for End Of Time.

  • it may be just you and i .....checked out the comments so far and we seem to be alone...lol

my sense of humor often leaves me laughing alone....nice to have company for a change....and yes please do make another video!...i enjoy them all!

  • The Starbug Edition goes live about 3:00pm EST

  • i friggin love ya! ;-)

i am home sick yesterday and today hackin up what feels like shards of glass, but you have made my day sir!!!! i cannot wait to see it!!!!

  • that was smegging brilliant !

  • im very pissed at this new doctor becasue he shoots a gun and he has never down that before

  • Well actually... The Doctor is "reluctant" to shot any kind of gun, but even going back to Davison's era, he shot Cybermen, IN THE TARDIS, which you shouldn't have been able to do. I think you will find this Doctor is shooting an inanimate object. But on the whole I agree, I didn't even like him pointing a gun in "The End Of Time" Part 2... but again he only shot an inanimate object.

  • @iruleusuck11

did you actually look at it properly?? he's shooting it into the air...

  • yes but he still shot the gun and who knows he could be shooting some giant in the air who knows

  • @iruleusuck11

I'm sure if he was shooting some giant, he would actually look up to make sure he hit it and not look forward towards the camera or other character infront of him.

  • Dead on! Actually, a more irreverent take on DW might be a bit refreshing....it certainly served the show well in the first 2 series of the Davies era.

  • Perfect!

  • Awesome!

  • That is damn near the most clever mashup I have ever seen.

Now that you've got the Trek through Time series out of the way, I would TOTALLY love to see a Doctor Who/Red Dwarf mashup!

  • I've been thinking about that one. The problem is it would have to be old school Who to match the footage from Dwarf, unless I just use the stuff from the series last year.

  • You could always wait a while, so you have plenty of new material to use from Smith's run.

  • It's the fact that Dwarf wasn't shot on HD just video, only the last set of Dwarf specials were in HD and Doctor Who 2005 was shot at higer-res the footage doesn't look right together. The McCoy era stuff blends pretty well with Red Dwarf, but not the CE stuff forward.

  • Fantastic!

  • nice work
