  • Does anyone remember the bloke who played the cardboard guitar and had black boot polish for hair...he used to make guitar sounds as he played... "dinga dinga linga ding!" ...Or is this the same bloke in better days? Yet another reason i love me city so much, you can just be who you want to be without any shit....you do get some gobshite hoody scum wanna be ganstas and Joey Barton..but they are rare in town i think.

  • who would beat up an old man like that :(

  • scouse vermin all of em

  • @ScousersAreShemales

You must be vermin to write such a comment. Another one jealous of Liverpool.

  • PROPER SCOUSER

  • What about the Beep Beep man?

  • @JapStrangler tony beep-beep who used to hang round kenny market?? legend!

  • Jackson is now recovered and is out of hospital and back in the care home.

  • 7th Feb 2010..

I've just rang the Royal Hospital..Jacko is in there and is OK....and I asked the nurse is it the same Jacko the street busker who sits on Williamson Square...the nurse said it is the same Jacko.

Thanks Davynessie for the great news..

    Gerard from flickr..

  • Great news - even the Liverpool Echo are convinced he was dead!

  • I called into the Royal Liverpool Hospital on 28th January and saw Jackson I hope to call again when I am over for the Everton/United game later this month

  • Just found out he's not dead ..just seen him walking around with his racket in limbo ..phew!!!

  • Just to confirm on my earlier post, 'Jacko' real name, Jackson Nesbitt. did sadly die shortly after signing himself out of hospital after a savage beating. I have had this confirmed from part of his family from Northern Ireland.

Goodnight, god bless Jacko, my thoughts remain with his family & friends.

  • Just to keep you all informed Jackson is NOT I repeat NOT dead. H e is in the Royal Liverpool Hospital with Pneumonia. I spoke with a nurse today 20/01/2010 at 11:30am and at the minute he is in a comfortable condition.

  • This is becoming like some sort of great Liverpool mystery! Is he dead or alive? let's hope it's the latter!

  • he has a tennis racket at one point too. genius!

  • Jacko! He now does half time entertainment at Anfield lol Keeps his dinner in the bin next to him.

  • So, is Jacko alive or not? Some reports say he's living in a nursing home?

  • wat liverpool is like everyday WANKERS

  • Jackson's alive and well. I spoke to him today.

  • i heard he was dead too, i certainly hope not. ): ):

  • Taught Clapton everything he knows

  • Jacko, it was very moving to see you on the film. I am so sorry and angry at what happened to you. You did not deserve it. I love you mate, my mate. Lady and Ernie

  • dont worry just walk down the streets of liverpool and ull find another

  • he died after getting beaten up by some shithouses (probably the classical all in black with hoods up teenagers after his money to buy some booze or something)

  • thats what i heard anyway

  • i am really sorry to hear thar,i hope the scum who did it rot in hell

  • It Brings me great regret to inform all that poor jacko passed away shortly after gettin out of hospital after a savage beatin from some 'real hard men'. (shithouse yobs) from which he never recovered. I hope I get my fukin hands on these shit-houses, or better still, the police catch up with them and they go to jail..... let's see how fukin hard they can be in hmp walton!

Poor Jacko wouldn't hurt a fly, & was a real interesting man to talk to, with a wide experience of life to share with all.

  • somebody told me he was kicked to death..anybody know if this is true ? poor old plink plink

  • I think this may be a case of a rumour growing on itself! I heard he was 'assaulted'

  • When did he die? Very recently? Very sad. He was THE Liverpool Character!

  • bless

  • fact jackson is ok as of 5th feb 09

  • Haha i always see him sat by the wimpys

  • paul mccartneys triumphant homecoming gig

  • Ha ha ha brilliant.

  • He is in a comfortable condition in hospital

  • I hope the lowlife who assaulted him and left him in hospital on Sunday reads this. I would like to meet you in person and explain just how upset this has made people.

  • Jacko was actually assaulted? Did this happen on Vernon Street? I read in the press how an elderley man was attacked. This is shocking news

  • He died, today!!!

  • No way really?? He's a legend!

  • Not dead but still in hospital

  • explain ? fuck that id explain it to the bastard with my fists and a pair of steel toeys.

Havnt seen jack for a while, hope hes well, KEEP ROCKIN JACKY BOY!

  • rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr he woz boss the last time i seen him i give him 50p and i havnt seen him since lol rrrrrrrrrr bless him

  • i miss that fella, he always wore a santa hat at christmas which didnt leave his head till around august

  • Little known fact. Plinky was formerly lead guitarist for piss poor scouse band the Farm. He is also a season ticket holder at Anfield!

  • This sort of talk is dangerous. A sweet harmless old lady with one arm used to walk about our town with an old handbag over her one arm, it was rumoured that she was also minted. A couple of young lads attacked and robbed her for her supposed money. She did not have any and she never recovered from her injuries.

  • Always knew him as Plinky Plink.

Used to love watching him strumming the guitar and doing his mad dance as you wandered between boozers.

He must have been doing this 20 years. true Liverpool Legend!

  • Did he actually play a 'real' guitar then?

  • lol we have similar people in my neighbourhood sad really, seems a harmless bloke trying to make money

  • Long live Jacko the legend.

  • jacko? thats plinkaplink!

  • bought him a sausage roll last week.

    he was very greatful.

    he is a harmless man.

  • plinkaplink hes a legend hes in my photos with his new guitar

  • ahh bless i cant beleive well maybe i can dat the people in da hostel picked on him dats bad

  • Someone has messaged saying they would like to give him some items; boots etc. Can they give them direct to Jacko or would it be best to give them to his hostel, if he's in a hostel? Does anyone know where he stays?

  • His name is Jackson Nesbitt from Armagh Northern Ireland he had a wife and lived in Portadown I don't know if she is still alive. His father was Fred Nesbitt and his mother was Martha. He Has three living brothers Robert, David and Harold. He also has a sister Elsie. His brother Joe died some years ago. He was a skilled carpenter.Unfortunately he has had mental issues most of his life but has never been violent he is a kind and gentle soul.

  • Yes, he's a gentle bloke - no harm to anyone

  • HA FUNII DISS MAN ;)

  • well dressed lads possibly office wallers quite often laugh at him as they pass then throw pound coins and 2 pound coins in his hat so whos the soft ones them or him.

  • however to change this mans life style is wrong he doing no harm to anybody and i dare say he probably a happier than the people trying to move him on give him my regards take care jackson.

  • Thanks for the link to jackson in the Kirkby times, I personally think there but for ect: why do people attack these characters maybe you hit the nail on the head when you mention the young and associations with drugs

  • I am from Armagh although never heard of him he seems to be a legend over in Liverpool, great character i would love to be able to help but living in Ireland i cant or i would defo give to such a nice man..

  • He's well known to Liverpudlians and has been entertaining people for years. If you do a Google search on the name 'Jackson Nesbitt', you will find a great article about him on a site called 'Kirkby Times'

  • i have known jacko for years i worked in the hostel were he lived, he is a really nice guy,the slime posing as management picked on him so they could evict him and they did. jacko once said he was selling one of his songs so he could buy me a pub and stew the floor with £5 notes so everyone could afford a drink, in his heart he meant it, its great to see him with a little fame while those who put him on the street are still nobodies
