WoW!! I played both, AoC is really fantastic, more realistic than WoW, but still it's not better than wow, I'm sorry, that's just my opinion. wow is the best mmorpg. But don´t get me wrong. AoC is awesome. I really love it. But WoW is so much more than that. WoW is epic. So WoW has my vote ♥.
Nothing can beat WoW tbh. Been up for like 6 years now and they keep inventing new contents so ppl don't get bored. Bugs are solved very fast! If u can find any bugs that is. Ive been playing since release and I still enjoy it. Also played AoC for a while but when ur used to flawless gameplay without any bugs,, It's hard to choose AoC above WoW.

AoC on the other hand has a bit of a bigger learning curve and looks a lot more polished. Plus the battle system for me seems a lot more solid, you actually feel like you are doing damage to the other player
I played WoW and AoC from release up until July of this year, have to say I enjoyed both games for different reasons, WoW I have enjoyed for the overall content of the game (although as of WoTLK my enjoyment has wained as Blizzard have made the game more focused on the casual gamer and as a result there is no longer the skill needed to do standard/heroic dungeons which I believe is needed so you learn teamwork for the Raids) not that raiding is necessary as you can now get the gear from tokens
i was playing WoW and now im playing AoC, AoC is better in all aspects, grafics... well you see the difference but this doesent matter at all at least for me, both pve and pvp is very challeging in AoC, you have to make combos and facing to the right side if you want to hit the enemy while in wow you are just spam buttons and the one who have the best gear wins, also while WoW is a kids game while AoC was giving me nightmares, you know in AoC everyone can kill you anywhere
I'd go for WoW still. It has the title King of MMORPG, but it does not make sense. But I'll always remember from the start, when I farmed to get new gear, and did all the hard work to level up, it was hard. It was fun.
But, today, well... no difference really, but it's easier. You get cool bosses now, and soon Cataclysm will be out so, WoW personally gets my vote. I mean, it's fun to kill the bosses, and instance, and get new gear every time!
what we can tell now ? WoW is still the best mmo with greatest end content. We will see Cataclysm soon. and AoC ? I was play for about 3months. Tortage is great but after that game is boring. Loots of bugs, pvp sucks, lags on siegies and shitty instances. Now they have 100k subscibers.... Lotro is much than Failcom game... but WoW is still one the top.
WoW is so easy... I played it twice and I quit twice, both time playing I was known on my server as 1 of the best in my classes... Never really mastered AoC, actually things can get dirty in it. Something new, not like WoW, I mean.. Monopoly is harder than WoW!
yeah...AoC combat is not that slow nor do u appear to be using any special moves. Also, ya got one guy fighting a few, in the WoW section you have several players fighting to add to the action.
I like WoW, and have played it for a while now, and am trying the trial for Conan now. I will probably prefer WoW, I'v tried loads of MMORPGs, and WoW was ALWAYS the best... maybe this time I will be wrong, but it's unlikely.

In my subjective opinion, Funcom was never able to get things done in time. AoC was delayed time after time after time after time after time, untill the peoples got really frustrated, and forced Funcom to release an unfinished game. AoC is less of a crap game than what it was at release date...

It comes down to opinion I guess. Many ppl who like cartoonish graphics will find AoC's gritty realism less appealing. However, that over-the-top fluffyness you're praising is exactly what turned me off about WoW. I didn't like my "hero" looking more and more like some clown in a low budget anime as I leveled up. Not to mention that WoW is also full of corny pop culture references and worn out EQ- era storylines. I would gladly let my children play WoW, but as a grown man AoC gets my vote.
Im gonna have to agree what got me alot about WoW was the way my character looked...now i loved age of conans fight tactics like fatalities and combos and i didnt mind the armor looks and stuff i thought they were still fun but the age of conan lack of contect and quere times for battlegrounds and bugs was what got me away from it...it didnt have the same feel of progression that WoW did ...pvp on age of conan was by far a blast thou!

The combat system is awesome in AoC, it's something WoW doesn't have. Their combat system is spamclick, WoW is popular because it appeals to the lowest common denominator. Any idiot can pick it up and "master" it in a matter of minutes. Not so with AoC. Also, for any MMO to launch since WoW's been out, WoW has attracted a lot of newbs to MMOs, who now expect that other MMOs should be fully polished at release, even though WoW wasn't, and no MMO ever is. They are works in progress, always.
That is why you pay monthly subscription fees; To fund the advancement of the work in progress that is the MMO. For the amount of time it has been out, AoC is vastly superior to WoW - but not many people are going to find that out, because most of the people who were attracted to MMOs through WoW were attracted to them because it is such an easy game to learn. It takes the MMO, a generally complicated game with many aspects and facets to learn - and dumbs it down so anyone can understand it.
Okay, you pick up wow and "master" it in minutes? We'll see how well you do in a "dumbed down game". Wow is not as easy as you say, try getting a high rated arena team, or being the best raid guild on your server. Not easy my friend, not easy at all.
Seriously? Yes, I did. I've not only participated in but have also founded a few top-three raid guilds in the past, and the PvP is a joke. As for instanced, prepared sandbox "PvP" matches, three quarters of that is team configuration and the other quarter is gear differential. The only PvP that really means anything is combat that happens spontaneously without ages to prepare for it, something that WoW hasn't had since the pre-WSG era.
The game was built upon an infrastructure with a priority on user-friendliness, which is fine for its purpose - which is attractive the maximum amount of players possible. When you make something so simple anyone can understand it and you set goals so easily reachable that anyone with persistence can achieve them, you will have a lot of people who enjoy it, but also a lot of people who want more depth of gameplay. WoW has a lot of polish, but its gameplay is inferior to many, many MMO games.

Not really. you click a button and it activates an ability and that's it. There is also little synergy between skills and "flow of combat" so to speak. Anyone who has played WAR or AoC will know what I'm talking about. There's plenty of WoW fanboys out there, so I don't expect them to understand what I'm talking about. But WoW is definitely not a PvP-centric game. Period.

Man, where did you find that AoC video? It's out of date really. In AoC you took video from ALFA version and in WoW you took high lvl gameplay. It's senseless. That kind of movies just deprave the real visage of the beautiful game which is Age of Conan. I played both and in AoC fight is the best I have ever seen and the graphic is amazing. FunCom did a lot of changes since the premiere. You should try it again or try at all if you haven't been in Hyboria yet. It's so cool place!
Umm...this video was posted almost 6 months before AoC was released, hence the old footage. Shame the game had issues at launch...the sheer beauty of the game world and the visceral combat is at the top of the mmo industry. I will agree, they have done a lot of changes...and had the game released in the state it is now, it would have been far, far more successful.

Sure you get noobs who cheap you that are 10 levels higher than you. But that's only in the first 20 levels then you can leave, level up, come back and rape them.
Some people just want to quest on AoC others like pvping and killing lowbies, but hey you'll be killing lowbies and shit as well in AoC. Everyone does it. If you're the type that wants level 80 in a day then quit games. Because the most fun part is leveling and getting immersed in the game in the process.
2. People will kill lowbies in every game. It's that simple, but you'll kill loads of lowbies in your time in AoC too so don't complain about it.
3. You can choose a shtload of classes that all kick ass tbh. All rogues are easy to level to 20 with then kinda suck afterwards but you can sneak which is good so you can avoid being noobed by players 10 levels higher for awhile. Pvp system fucking rocks too.
wow is good and so is aoc i think aoc pvp is ALOT better than wows but i do like wows questing and the dungons ect. another downside is tht wow has a crap community

your right the endgame raids are pretty hard and require some degree of skill but in AoC it requires a whole differant set of skills from the start all the way to endgame
The AOC feed seemed alot slower than how it really is....but i play both games and they both are great WoW however seems to be easier and AoC is alot more challenging and a new fight its fun
AoC for the win, it dosent have as many players because it was pretty much released unfinished, but now they have released alot of patches to fix that more then half of the bugs which were at launch have been fixed now, and the game is ever growing, the gameplay is better (i generally like the idea of having to attack diffrent parts of an enemy) makes it more fun to play with, and the fatality kills there awesome, WoW is just spell after spell and after and so on, i say try and AoC free trial :P

I play both.. since i'm level 80 it only takes me like 1-2 days to complete all the content i need and then i have to wait a week to do it again..
So the rest 5 days of the week i'm rockin' it in AOC.

what we can tell now ? WoW is still the best mmo with greatest end content. We will see Cataclysm soon. and AoC ? I was play for about 3months. Tortage is great but after that game is boring. Loots of bugs, pvp sucks, lags on siegies and shitty instances. Now they have 100k subscibers.... Lotro is much than Failcom game... but WoW is still one the top.

WoW is so easy... I played it twice and I quit twice, both time playing I was known on my server as 1 of the best in my classes... Never really mastered AoC, actually things can get dirty in it. Something new, not like WoW, I mean.. Monopoly is harder than WoW!

yeah...AoC combat is not that slow nor do u appear to be using any special moves. Also, ya got one guy fighting a few, in the WoW section you have several players fighting to add to the action.

I like WoW, and have played it for a while now, and am trying the trial for Conan now. I will probably prefer WoW, I'v tried loads of MMORPGs, and WoW was ALWAYS the best... maybe this time I will be wrong, but it's unlikely.

Played wow for 2 1/2 years and now i play AOC.
There really is no comparison. Aoc is a far better game. The immersion is alot deeper.
As for the combat.......simply brilliant!!

that is actually because AoC IS crap. The Norwegian media had an article where Funcom forced their employess to work 12-18 hour shifts for free over a long period of time.
Funcom is one of the reason that make me feel ashamed of being a Norwegian...

In my subjective opinion, Funcom was never able to get things done in time. AoC was delayed time after time after time after time after time, untill the peoples got really frustrated, and forced Funcom to release an unfinished game. AoC is less of a crap game than what it was at release date...

One thing that makes World of Warcraft more fun is that they have cartoony weapons or huge shoulderpads with flaming sheals or fiery or icey enchants and stuff that glows that age of conan is lacking i truly beleive that world of warcraft has an advantage to every mmo just by the gear looks...i loved my shaman with all monastary gear and icey and firey weps...all my in real life freinds agree with me on this..

It comes down to opinion I guess. Many ppl who like cartoonish graphics will find AoC's gritty realism less appealing. However, that over-the-top fluffyness you're praising is exactly what turned me off about WoW. I didn't like my "hero" looking more and more like some clown in a low budget anime as I leveled up. Not to mention that WoW is also full of corny pop culture references and worn out EQ- era storylines. I would gladly let my children play WoW, but as a grown man AoC gets my vote.

Im gonna have to agree what got me alot about WoW was the way my character looked...now i loved age of conans fight tactics like fatalities and combos and i didnt mind the armor looks and stuff i thought they were still fun but the age of conan lack of contect and quere times for battlegrounds and bugs was what got me away from it...it didnt have the same feel of progression that WoW did ...pvp on age of conan was by far a blast thou!

Yes, the graphics are old, but I'd still say WoW is like wine - the older it gets, the better it is. The combat system is awesome in AoC, it's something WoW doesn't have. Their combat system is spamclick, WoW is popular because it appeals to the lowest common denominator. Any idiot can pick it up and "master" it in a matter of minutes. Not so with AoC. Also, for any MMO to launch since WoW's been out, WoW has attracted a lot of newbs to MMOs, who now expect that other MMOs should be fully polished at release, even though WoW wasn't, and no MMO ever is. They are works in progress, always.

That is why you pay monthly subscription fees; To fund the advancement of the work in progress that is the MMO. For the amount of time it has been out, AoC is vastly superior to WoW - but not many people are going to find that out, because most of the people who were attracted to MMOs through WoW were attracted to them because it is such an easy game to learn. It takes the MMO, a generally complicated game with many aspects and facets to learn - and dumbs it down so anyone can understand it.

Seriously? Yes, I did. I've not only participated in but have also founded a few top-three raid guilds in the past, and the PvP is a joke. As for instanced, prepared sandbox "PvP" matches, three quarters of that is team configuration and the other quarter is gear differential. The only PvP that really means anything is combat that happens spontaneously without ages to prepare for it, something that WoW hasn't had since the pre-WSG era.

The game was built upon an infrastructure with a priority on user-friendliness, which is fine for its purpose - which is attractive the maximum amount of players possible. When you make something so simple anyone can understand it and you set goals so easily reachable that anyone with persistence can achieve them, you will have a lot of people who enjoy it, but also a lot of people who want more depth of gameplay. WoW has a lot of polish, but its gameplay is inferior to many, many MMO games.

Not really. you click a button and it activates an ability and that's it. There is also little synergy between skills and "flow of combat" so to speak. Anyone who has played WAR or AoC will know what I'm talking about. There's plenty of WoW fanboys out there, so I don't expect them to understand what I'm talking about. But WoW is definitely not a PvP-centric game. Period.

i just beginning to try out aoc, used to play wow before. and the first impression i got/have is that aoc is way more fun to play (atleast for me). at least this far. as i said i just started playing so i cant really judge. and im only lvl 23 on aoc. but still. like both games, but aoc are at the top atm.

Man, where did you find that AoC video? It's out of date really. In AoC you took video from ALFA version and in WoW you took high lvl gameplay. It's senseless. That kind of movies just deprave the real visage of the beautiful game which is Age of Conan. I played both and in AoC fight is the best I have ever seen and the graphic is amazing. FunCom did a lot of changes since the premiere. You should try it again or try at all if you haven't been in Hyboria yet. It's so cool place!

Umm...this video was posted almost 6 months before AoC was released, hence the old footage. Shame the game had issues at launch...the sheer beauty of the game world and the visceral combat is at the top of the mmo industry. I will agree, they have done a lot of changes...and had the game released in the state it is now, it would have been far, far more successful.

AoC has come such a long way in that time, better graphics and far better gameplay and quests. All classes are totally balanced and it kicks ass.
The HUD looks totally different from the one in this video as well. it's far better.

So sum it up, anyone that has only played WoW and AoC for a short time. (1 month each).
Will say that AoC is far better by comparison.
Kills are satisfying, you can actually kill more than 1 enemy, where as in wow you can hardly mob for ages without getting chased.
The graphics are far better. DX10 graphics on my 295 look absolutely breath taking on my noob 24 inch SyncMaster. Plus ambiance is great.
Pvp actually requires skill. No one complains about anything, quests are fun etc. Go try it.

People actually need a decent computer to play it, meaning that idiot 12 year olds that don't possess a good machine can't play. So only seasoned gamer vet's have the chance to play it.

Sure you get noobs who cheap you that are 10 levels higher than you. But that's only in the first 20 levels then you can leave, level up, come back and rape them.
Some people just want to quest on AoC others like pvping and killing lowbies, but hey you'll be killing lowbies and shit as well in AoC. Everyone does it. If you're the type that wants level 80 in a day then quit games. Because the most fun part is leveling and getting immersed in the game in the process.

Anyway to answer your question.
1. No one bitches about anything.
2. People will kill lowbies in every game. It's that simple, but you'll kill loads of lowbies in your time in AoC too so don't complain about it.
3. You can choose a shtload of classes that all kick ass tbh. All rogues are easy to level to 20 with then kinda suck afterwards but you can sneak which is good so you can avoid being noobed by players 10 levels higher for awhile. Pvp system fucking rocks too.

AoC for the win, it dosent have as many players because it was pretty much released unfinished, but now they have released alot of patches to fix that more then half of the bugs which were at launch have been fixed now, and the game is ever growing, the gameplay is better (i generally like the idea of having to attack diffrent parts of an enemy) makes it more fun to play with, and the fatality kills there awesome, WoW is just spell after spell and after and so on, i say try and AoC free trial :P
