I just got the Live 8 and installed it and already having problems authorizing it... it didnt ask for the serial number, and now im in demo mode and there's no help anywhere it's pissing me off, it even happened with live lite! dont know whether to uninstall the whole thing and start again but it's probably gonna do the same damn thing again, what a pile of shit lol excuse my rudeness and negativity, whoever reads this but ive had enough of these stupid softwares that take you round in circles.
I'm from FL to Ableton Live 8 because I wanted to continue on a Mac and work in a total new environment, and damn it's not easy to get the hang of a DAW! I hope seeing your tuts will make it a bit easier :) thanks
@equaleyez187 Yes, it has a learning curve, but one you get over that first piece, it's far easier than FL studio, without the 'it's holding you back' part that FL has when your track gets complex. Our new Ableton/Dubstep tutorials are up, take a looky & enjoy!
@TornadoTwins there is no 'it's holding you back' part with FL once you actually learn how to use it properly. this is a misconception and you are wrong!
mate, I've got a question, and you seem to be helpful so here goes:
I've just created a little song medley, accompanied by some video clips. I want to upload the finished file to youtube, on which the maximum length for a video upload is 10 minutes.
Now here's the thing, when I go File-> Export Audio/Video, after having done that, I get my video.
Now here's the problem, The vids fine, but at the end of my 9min 56 sec video, i get 2 mins of complete blank. So here's my question:
How do I set a definitive END to my little medley? because, for example, If I just play the whole thing back in arrangement view, once the end has passed the little time indicator just keeps going and going and going, so I was wondering how to end my piece at a specific time...
Use the gray slider up top to set your range. Before exporting, select the slider (turns everything yellow) and all the selected parts will be exported. This way there's no silence at the end!
When you look at your meters (volume coming out of the track), do they look like a regular volume meter (green that goes to red when really loud) or does it look like yellow dots?
Also, are you sure that
- no mute buttons are pressed
- you've gotten audio out of Ableton before
- the track is routed into the master output and not a bus or something
now i have it making sound but when i press play it plays all my clips not the ones shown on my timeline i dont know wether im misinterrpreting the function of the timeline.
if ive finished my timeline does it play for you when you press play or is it just a template so that you know when to launch or stop your clips?
Up top, you'll see the play/stop/rec buttons. Right next to that (right) is the 'OVR' button. Right next to the OVR button is a button that toggles either playing clips or playing the timeline. Click that one and it should be fixed.
i wanna master ableton because most big producers use it, like armin van buuren and davis guetta, so i need to learn that shit 0_100 feel me ?

You can also drag clips into your timeline by (while dragging the clip) hitting 'tab' and dropping it on the timeline.
Pretty powerful stuff.
