No, the motors weren't broken at all. This easily drove on snow and was fine after. We've done it quite a few times and it's always been fine afterwards.
No, I'm from Kent, which is why the snow was quite such a surprise :) We don't often get snow down here, and certainly not that much. We got loads that week too though, for once.

Yes the set comes with all of the motors, IR receivers, remote control. battery box.
