  • I took online courses @ DeVry & they tried to cheat me by double billing for tuition already paid for by military tuition assistance. The only smart thing I did was not wasting my GI Bill on this so-called "college". Anyone who is considering this "college" should check out the PBS Frontline documentary "College Inc", or the site "Ripoff Report" (just google the site & search 'DeVry') before putting your financial and academic future on the line at an overpriced & sub-standard "school".

  • What a joke. What is your degree in? Video Game Design? They probably programmed Elf Bowling 1 & 2.

  • waste of time and waste of money hr ppl have to respect for this school those 2 guys are actor s

  • Wow such unfathomable hate on many of these comments.

Look I just graduated, from here as of Feb 2011 from the GSP program. Here is how it goes, nobody can get you an instant job unless you have properly networked or nepotism/crony-ism is in play. The average college kicks you out upon graduating (good luck job-hunting), they are at least willing to work with you in getting a job, yet like all things if you put nothing into it, you will get nothing out.

  • Construction Worker #1: My son got into DeVry.

Construction Worker #2: Oh, good. What'd he have to do, open the door?

  • with THAT SAID they will not instantly transform you into a game developer, nor can they really even promise oyu a job in the current climate. if you get into this program oyu have to recognize you have chosen one of the most competitive fields out there. also the hard reality of game developement is it takes a lot of work. I have a portfolio of the stuff I learned I can show anyone interested or anyone who has any questions from an actual student.

  • I am a student at Devry in my senior year, I am also in the schools GSP ( Game and simulation programming) program. tips for anyone interested in entering the program, the school can and will teach you how to use the tools and assets available to make games , game assets, and so on.

  • Do Devry students really make 60k per year for 1 year of college or are these people just trolls? I smell trolls because even if a Devry student did make 60k their first year they wouldnt be complaining about it. I think you are just trying to ruin other peoples lives by making them waste a year only to get a black mark of a degree on their life record. This school is as useful as a broken vending machine.

  • ummmmmm working with the Unreal Engine I assume a lot of designing and editing and not much programming.

  • all of u r stupid who r fucking complaining that $60,000 a year is all ur making, ur only spending a little over a year at Devry and making that much when u graduate there, a 4 year college graduate only makes $45,000-$50,0000, and if u end up working at burker king or wherever, then thats ur fault cuz ur taking advantage of the situation that u didnt learn nothing 4rm Devry and still being a lazy ass

  • I literally sat in classes that had NOTHING to teach. We wasted 6 weeks in a MMO programming class because they had software problems. The class cost me about $1500 and all we got out of it was a signed petition and a funny aggressive visit from the Dean of that particular campus. They busted into the room and threw threats about wanting to graduate saying things like "I mean u guys want to graduate right?" DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY GOING TO THIS GARBAGE SCHOOL!

  • @jasonman12321 Nobody will believe you sat in a class for 6 weeks doing nothing at a "particular campus." Either you slept through your class and want to lie about it to make yourself (or your parents) feel better somehow, or you've never been to DeVry and are paid by some competitor to lie about the school. I don't care which, but you'll never convince me this or any school is bad.

  • Lol crying bout 60gs wtf

  • Sadly, in the job world it's about where your degree, not so much about what you learned. Usually, a degree and gpa speaks for itself in reflecting what you learned. Honestly if you were really in school to "learn", your better off buying books and doing independent study. I am good at web design or graphic design and wasn't "formally" taught, that doesn't mean a person with a degree (and lesser skill) then me have less chance then me. It's all about the portfolio is what I'm saying.

  • DeVry SUCKS, I only make $60,000 when I graduated from DeVry. I supposed to get 6 figures. They lied to me ;(

  • Dude, 60 grand is awesome.

  • @Ky772 Copypasta troll has been exposed!

  • @echaru Dude you should be very happy man 60K is way above poverty level man. What do you expect for a junior programmer that sounds about right and you will only be making 6 figures once you have more experience. Im a current student at Devry and I did research on what im getting into and that sounds fantastic why are you complaining? "MAN IM ONLY MAKING 60k a year this is shit.." why not bust your ass off at Mcky D's for 100 hours only making 20k a year... So think about it.

  • @echaru What was your major in DeVry University and what job do you work for? Can you please prove to people that you can get a job with a degree from Devry? I go to DeVry and people keep trying to get me to quit because they say that DeVry is a fake school and they rip off students.

  • from all the good comments about devry, there are possibilities that some of you work for devry and make comments about devry.

anyhow, fremont devry is bullshit on game and simulation programming, don't ever attend fremont devry

  • The only people who trash talk Devry are people who have never gone there. Maybe they tried it, but couldn't handle the increased tempo at Devy. The classes move very quickly, and you have to stay on top of things to pass.

  • You damn straight about that one.

Devry moves VERY quickly. I'm in GSP 220 right now, and it ain't nothing to fool around with. But the things you can do when you get the hang of it is cool. Its just very hard and you have to be a quick and attentive learner to get it. Or hire a tutor, which I did. lol

  • how would u guys know if devry is bad, if u never experienced it urselves? i talked with several students at devry . Most of them said they enjoyed what they're doing, and some of them already got jobs working for companies such as EA, Namco Bandia, and one said he is an intern at lucasarts.

There was even a representitive from Intel talking with some students.

I am betting or guessing most of u guys talking crap about devry never went there, or just say what everone else says.

  • Comment removed

  • The school doesn't teach everything for the game and simulation program.

I am not sure if DeVrys in other location teach you everything but DeVry at Fremont doesn't teach everything you need to know to create a game.

  • Well I'm at devry in IL and we are doing astro-physics for simulation programing.

  • I to go to Devry and taking Network and Communication Managment it is a good shcool to go to if you want and learn what the real world has for you.

  • Anything in the game industry> lol > To the guy in the video who said he'd even sweep the floor & needs a DeVry degree....Hey stupid you don't need a 60-80 grand degree to use a broom for minimum wage. These guys sound so educated.lol. Doesn't seem like DeVry taught them much for the degree their parents probably ended up paying for.

  • When you come out with a video game and start making shit loads of cash like these two guys then start talking shit..untill then stfu and do something with your life aside from looking for a couple of nerds to pick on...fucktard

  • its really pathetic how you go around on youtube looking to talk shit about DeVry is that all you can do in life? just talk shit about a school? if everyone go to all the DeVry videos you watched and commented i sure enough know they think your nothing but a pathetic nerd going around talking about a school..be fore real...

  • DeVry executives got their Real Educations at Harvard, Stanford or Princeton. Obviosly well off people.. It's posted on the business pages as well as their huge salaries. They wouldn't have their 6 figure salaries with an education from DeVry nor will they need to send their own children to DeVry. They'll just keep ripping off students who believed their false promises & ads that DeVry is capable of providing a reliable college education for a decent career. State colleges are more reliable.

  • what a buncha crap! Learning to design stupid fucken games.what kinda jobs are awaiting game designers? and who is the broad ?

Thats we need a whole nation of game players, just jerk off and play games!!

Forget about Math ,physics and electronics

    Another "BS" program!

  • @HerrLeutnant67, so true. With the economic crisis going on world wide. Also, Ea laid off employees and shut down some studios. Retail sales are down. A job in security, janitorial, food service, even digging ditches seems both more realistic and attractive. Besides, you can learn gaming development part time and even on the side. I know a guy who lays floor tiles and is a plasterer by profession and he is quite good with programming and game development. He is into Indie development.

  • DeVry is not a scam. Its like any other university you get out what you put in!! So many people want to blame others for there success, or lack there of. Every school has to make money, every school has it plusses and minusses but dont blame an Institution for your failure!

I didnt even attend DEVRY, but I do know people that did and are very successful.I also know people that attended more traditional schools and have nada to show for it!

In the end hard work determines ones success.

  • Too bad it looks like **** on your resume for attending a for-profit school. You literally "paid" for your degree since you a) didn't meet to the requirements to attend a proper school or b) you paid for a degree.

  • You "literally" pay for any degree anwyay. If you have the cash, you can buy your way into nearly any institution. State-run institutions have many problems as well. The only thing that truly matters is what you get out of your education. I'm learning a lot with DeVry and I intend on putting that knowledge to use. Even great credentials don't mean shit if you didn't learn a damned thing. You are what you know, just be sure you can prove it.

  • Is this a bad joke ferrsai? Learn more about accreditation. You paid money for nothing.

  • Tell me your story. There's no doubt that I'm learning things. That's the important part in my eyes, I don't intend to work for somebody else for long. I haven't been convinced one way or the other, I merely spoke of my experience and beliefs thus far. Am I going to be surprised towards the end of this program? Is the learning going to decline? Tell me your story, Friend.

  • Your going to be surprised when employers laugh at your degree. Mere fact whether you like it or not.

  • I'm not so sure. I don't expect any degree to get a job for me. A person has to sell themselves to potential employers. Nothing fits my situation like DeVry does at this point. I'm learning, if that's soley for my own benefit, so be it. In the end it's about what I take from this school and how I put it to use. There is opportunity in the IT industry for those that know what they are doing, assuming they have their certifications as well.

  • Sell themselves? Maybe if your into a shitty career. Remember, the employer reads your resume first-- a degree from devry will have employers laughing. I don't doubt that you may be learning from your program, however the truth of the matter is that the degree is unaccredited and worthless.

  • If you don't sell yourself well, then a shitty career is probably what you'll find. I'm sure it depends where you're looking for work, as far as location and industry, as well. Can a school claim they are accredited and not actually be accredited? I doubt it. Did your potential employers all you personally and laugh in your ear about DeVry? Or are you just assuming it was the DeVry degree listed on your resume that prevented you from getting the job?

  • See, I didn't go to devry. Instead, I went to a well-known public-funded university. I would know if employers laughed, because I would be one of them. All bogus degrees are forwarded to HR daily. We get clowns who apply with absolutely 0 knowledge in the area of expertise they claim to have -- and unfortunately, devry is one of them.

  • There are average people, good people and great people. Average people far outnumber good people and good people outnumber great people. This tells me that no matter what school we bring up we are going to find these kinds of people. Maybe you found a bad batch, Bub. I'm not good, and I'm definitely not average, but if you ever see my resume slapped on your desk you'll be f#$@%' impressed. Assuming you make it past the DeVry, if not, that's your loss.

  • how can you talk so much crap about a school that you never been too? For real think before you speak, you never been at DeVry let alone done any class there, how would you know employers laugh at our degree? Everyday i see someone in my class year talking about them getting a job WHILE STILL IN DEVRY.... now tell me at a normal university have you ever been offered a job in a area that you havent even finished with yet? okay then........

  • 5 of my cousins have gone to DeVry, and they had job offers coming in before they graduated..

  • Devry is a scam.

  • they really are....unfortunely i know first hand we used game maker for a good bit and moving into torque.....what makes it worse is that we have to use the free trial versions....unless u wanna fork over the money for the full version......so much bs at devry

  • Can you elaborate on that? I was looking at it as a possible school option, but I want to hear what you think about it.

  • I made my first game at 15. Really. Its not that hard.

  • What game was it ?

  • You wouldnt have heard of it. I made it and handed it out at school. It wasnt really that great but you know.

  • Just wow. I wanna play that...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    Not

  • cool

  • wow unreal engine!?!? thats sweet!

  • Unpolished. Also, a big WTF shout-out for DeVry... WTF!!!!

  • No one cool wants to work for EA.

  • How much is Devry paying Mahalo for this shameless plug?

  • These guys are horrible speakers. They need a smooth talker to promote their products - and enough with the Devry commercial already...*puke*

  • Devry is just another sham school after you're money

  • @HumanitysAdvocate true but which school isn't after your money if your rich it doesn't matter how you did in high school you can get in any college.

  • @HumanitysAdvocate YA it is if you are lazy as fuck and dont know how to work. DeVry is not a scam they focus on real world shit and not general waste of time. If you dont know how to work on extra things in your freetime, college is not for you

  • @TsMHicks - "Lazy as fuck"? Did they teach you that level of real world professionalism at DeVry? There's nothing "real world" about Devry except the laughter from real world employers when they find out you went there and you realize you blew a few grand on a wanna-be collage.

  • @HumanitysAdvocate just because u failed and dropped out doesn't mean a school is bad, just means u need to go to another school.

  • @TsMHicks - Does DeVry also teach you to ignorantly assume things about individuals you know nothing about and make a complete fool of yourself? Stop hiding behind your computer kid, learn to shut up and respect others opinions so you don't make a total ass of yourself.

  • @HumanitysAdvocate Lolz, how much you want to bet people replying to you were payed by DeVry?

  • @KirbiesandYoshies - ah yes, stupid is the corporate way - indoctrinate them early and they're plebs to the system for a life time ;)

  • jdysase ysuayaoat

  • awesome
