Puerto Rico has less homicide cases from most US States, and very little compared to other countries in the caribbean and in all Latin-America. Florida which is a major turist destination, where crime is reported numerously, has more crime than P.R., yet, Florida is still a great place to live. One cannot live in fear or not travel because of fear. Just don't go into bad neighborhoods. England has a lot of crime also. No place is safe now-a-days.

Texas and Florida spend billions of dollars on drug prevention; this is all across the State; I worked managing 2 halfway houses in Florida; I have helped many people recover from drugs; we provided social rehab services, therapy and medication management. I have taken over 2000 men and women from jail that were court ordered into our program in both Kissimmee and Orlando, FL. Crime to me is seen as a major problem all over USA.-New York State, the same; I worked here 35 years with many clients.

Drug crime is everywhere in the USA, Puerto Rico being part of the United States and not having any customs restrictions, makes P.R. an alluring place for drug cartels. Dominicans and Columbians are easily allured to the island because of there short distance away; Dominican Republic only 60 miles away, and Columbia 550 miles away. US Customs must develope better strategics to stop the drug smuggling into P.R.. The US Postal must prevent arms from entering PR from the Mainland.

It’s the WAR ON DRUG LAWS that causes the most harm in P R and the mainland. Drugs should be legalized and regulated and taxed. But the USA is to dumb to realize that. Man has been using some sort of stimulant fore his senses since the begging of time. What makes these people think that it’s going to stop or go away. It will keep on going No matter what.
