They enjoyed the movie, the found it funny that they were the invaders. They seem to think it's a possibility, so why shouldn't we?

It is actually a very true reality and the Australian military has been preparing for the possibility of such invasion by neighbouring Indonesian countries for years. Just because I believe in the minute possibility that this could happen, does not make me racist nor does it make me xenophobic, it simply means that I am not ignorant. A movie is not going to damage any relations, just as the very popular book series didn't a decade ago.

This is one movie i will not watch, and i also encourage other Australians to boycott this film. Although John Marsden is an Australian and, the text is Australian, the story itself is UNAUSTRALIAN because it defines the invaders as those of an asian origin, which has the potential to make people become xenophobic towards ethic groups that are from that origin. It further damages the relations with our neighbours which we rely on for sustainable economic growth and security in the region.

@genxdarkangel It doesn't really define who they are. Some close ups show some of them to be asian. But it doesn't mean they're Chinese, Indonesian, or Tibetan or anything inparticular. It's not specified. They even used a made up language!

If someone comes away from this film with a prejudice against Asian people... i'm sure the Darwin award will sort them out...

Anyway, this film isn't about who the invadors are, its about the kids and their story.

That's the whole point of the book but anyway its fiction so does it matter what it contains.
