this song introduced me to the whole detroit techno/deep house story...also it helped me ina a time when i was a seriously deppresed..suh a powerfull tune...as all Theo's tracks are
Rough ... totally agree with the sentiments of Jolar70. Music's got to have the 'edge' and that's an instinctive process - roughneck cuts of music like this come straight out the soul ... 'house is a feeling' - seems like everything Theo Parrish does he sprinkles a magic dust and brings the groove to life - love it!
@duncanjah if you are going to write a comment to someone at least try to spell properly and form sentences that make it seem you have used a cognitive process to come up with the sentence. As of right now I'm not sure if anyone who reads what you are saying understands exactly what point you are trying to get across but one thing is for certain we all are well aware that you're lacking of intelligence and not just musically. Theo's amazing!! Long live Detroit music!!
I get to see him play every month at Plastic People, London. Great DJ. Awesome Producer. Very cool guy too. Always happy to talk about music. I have the upmost respect for him!
theo's music is seriously wrong... I mean it is tooo sick for us humans. I have a hard time listening without passing out because of it's many levels. This isn't music it's soul physically transformed into song.
i love this guy... been into him since the year 99... i love this shit.... wish i had a beer.... sit back and chill out in my own zone to these kool beats.... parish... you got soul brother.... saw you in perth this year in 2008......
Great Detroit house is always an amazing living creature. Every element seems separate, alive and articulated, unlike the D.O.A. muzak bullshit of Miguel Migs & co. House music should always be street music and soul music, not lounge music. Detroit producers, at least of the Theo Parrish and Kenny Dixon jr. vintage, seem to just know this instinctively.
I wrote that because what Migs and labels like Salted, Naked, and Hed Kandi were making (late 90's - mid 00's), in the name of deep house, almost always seemed soulless and contrived to me, and frighteningly close to "soft jazz" retail music. Making emptiness is what cheapened disco, although they've probably all moved on to electro house by now. But, you're right, I prefer music underground and that's when I appreciate other styles too.
concurrrred, well said. unarticulation of the elements is a sure way of telling the phony tech driven tunes from the soul innovators. parrish is deeep. now all the dead heads have moved towards electro, disco should be free
@Jolar70 Word. Like the jazz, soul, r&b, disco, funk, and other urban music and dance forms that came before, house is a raw street thing, a folk expression that should never be tamed or confined. Misguided capitalistic notions will push people to appropriate and "smooth" out house and hip hop for personal gain, but it's heartening to find those producers, DJs, and dancers who simply bleed music. Peace!

This is probably the best Parrish song I have ever heard! I had to go pick it up immediately.
You can find a good portion of his CD releases at Melodies & Memories in Eastpointe, MI. Very reasonably priced, UNLIKE on the internet.
