Cool! Ya we were blasting Horne Lake North, so nice up there, amazing views as well. Put in 8km of road and then 3 more after that off the main. Mid July we still had snow up there haha.
That was cool! Thanks for sharing! I love information/history stuff like this on cool industries! Thats was the Discovery/History channel kicks ass. You should see some of the mining explosions in North/South Dakota. Its rediculous!
i love the way he drops the box of explosives on the floor@1:13 haha. BOOOOOM

The first job I ever had in the bush was as a Drillers helper.
One day when we were finished loading the holes, we stopped for lunch by the blast site.
Back then you threw what you didn't eat on the ground.
We lit the fuse, then drove away and waited.
The shot went off and we went up to take a look.
At the edge of the rocks there was a raven with his wing caught under a rock.
I flipped the rock off of his wing, and he hopped into the bush and then flew away, likely stone deaf.
Poor Bastard.

where did you work blasting?
kmoney0506 2 years ago
The first place in the early 70s was at Bacon Lake on the east side of Strathcona Park as a Swamper for a guy named Clarence Fulton.
Later on when I drove dump truck @ Vernon Camp I would help Driller load the holes.

Oh ya, right on.. I was swamping and doing all that for a while last year up Horne Lake way a off the Bamfield Main. Nice to see some local stuff!!

Horne Lake huh, cool.
My Dad sold 1000s of acres of land around there when he liquidated the assets of a large logging company in the 70s.
He sold 35000 acres and he didn't sell all of what they owned.
Walker Addison Sr. bought a lot of land around Horne Lake from Dad.

Yeah the snow and the incredible views.
July 9 1986 I was hooking on grapple yarder in Waring valley on early shift.
It started snowing @ about 8 that morning.
We get to see some cool stuff out there.
That's why driving log-truck was my favorite job.
We got to see everything.

Try to find this guys DVD, it was the best film about logging I've ever seen. Worth every penny.
jusportel 3 years ago
I definately will, do you think I could find it a best buy or something like that? Or would I have to order it from a specialty place?
Xx69roadrunnerxX 3 years ago
I want a job like that! Not sure what all that dust will have done to his camera though...
