This is Robert Moffett. He used a 6r4 in rallycross, I think the shell got battered so they put it in this. Josh Moffett used in The Rallysport Association a few years ago. The escort was falling apart then so im not sure where or if the car is used.

i persume theres only one of these in the world and if its the one i know its owned by an irish guy Moffet from monaghan and he still uses it in the quarry crosses here. its amazing to watch
in the uk you are allowed to rally them as long as the engine is a 2.5 or 2.8 litre engine. 2.5 litre 6r4 engines are very powerful and rev upto 10,500 rpm
I will find out who the driver of the car is as i cant remember. It was used from 1999 in the N.I rally championship. Ill try adn find out from my mate a little more.
If I'm not wrong 6R4 engine was made from a Rover V8 engine that was cut down to a V6 with 2 turbos. As the 6R4 Metro was a Group B rally car, power was around 450 hp. This engine came back in a 550hp version in 1992 in the Jaguar XJ220.
the early prototype 6r4s had a cut down v8 but that was just until they made the proper v64v engine. The engine in the 6r4 was built just for that no cut down v8. Also it didnt have 2 turbos either. The car was normally aspirated. There were a couple who twin turboed the 6r4 for rallycross but it was homologated for group b rallying as a n/a engine. works rally cars had 380-410bhp aswell. The engine rights was bought by twr and used to power the jag xj220.

The car was origanally a rally car but it was almost fully rebuilt wen the guy had the almost imaculite idea of puttin a Mg engine in it

THE MG METRO 6r4 IS THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD - LOOKS AND POWER - although an Austin A35 looks much better!
