I saw this teaser in the theatre in 1992 when my parents took me to see Batman returns and it was scary. It was pretty rare to show a trailer like that back in the day.
This is a great movie. The thing I love about it is that of coarse it is very true to the novel, and because it has a lot of stuff from other adaptations in it too, like when dracula rises from his coffin like in nosfertu, and when harker receives the crucifix necklace from the people in the carriage, like in the 1931 dracula....
Always wondered why they pulled that trailer. I preferred this trailer.
I have the original Beware posters signed by Francis Ford Coppola - he was at SD Comic Con, met his son Roman too. Got pics, they were both really nice people.Loved the movie, yeah it had its faults but I can overlook most of them and just enjoy it for what it is.
Interview with the Vampire And Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula=GODS OF VAMPIRE MOVIES(p.s: i cant believe people are comparing the peace of shit twilight which is about gay pussy vampires that shine in the light to this EPICNESS AWESOME HARDCORE MOVIE, a new word must be created to describe the amount of epicness this is)
I remember seeing this when I saw Hook at the age of 7. My dad told me to close my eyes right when the blood started to move, and of course, I didn't. Freaked me the hell out!!
I remember being a little kid watching the 1994 VHS of "Gladiator" and this trailor was on it. Used to scare the crap out of me, couldn't wait to see it lol.
This is the trailer that patrons complained of being too intense? Seriously? Come on! This is nothing! I guess those patrons are nothing but a bunch of wuss.
ladies and gents lift your glasses in remembrance of the classic monsters: Nosferatu (vampire,) the flesh golem (Frankenstein's monster,) the wolfman (werewolves,) and the missing link (the creature from the black lagoon) if only we could bring them back. the masters of terror and nightmare our days would be brighter and our nights darker. may they rest in peace. and for God's sake some one please put the whole twilight series and studio to the torch? for the sake of us all.
that's what monsters did, scare the living shit out of children. but also create good stories with meaning behind them and that would also make things so much safer for kids if they did not go out at night look at it in a parent's perspective. as for twilight a thousand deaths are not enough for twilight. Stoker's Dracula was the vampire for over 100 years the scariest monster of them all. but twilight destroyed that reign in one book. an embarrassment to the genre of vampire. DEATH TO TWILIGHT!
@gojirajin if you got a little cash, know some people that have some kind of acting skills, people that have done tech crew, and some actual nerds that can program/make costumes/ have access to materials/ect, and a location and some cameras/film you can and would be able to put it in theaters. look at paranormal activity it coast about 10,000 to make if that and possibly/more likely a lot less. for tips and help look at fbx here on youtube they help out indie movie makers.
if you ask me, this movie was better than the old dracula, cause the movie was pretty dated and to be honest i thought some of the acting was prtty bad
this movie rocks! luved it from the very first scene! everything about is great, except for keanu reeve's shitty acting: the cinematography, the art design... coppola's a genius
@movierock69 Coppola didn't want to cast Reeves. It was only because he was popular with the chicks in those days that the studio wanted him in the movie!
This a really good movie, i try to stay away from the teen vampire movies of today. Because they are made for fast consumption. If you are a teen or young adult you most likely love Twilight because it was made for your demographics. But, masterpieces stand the test of time.
Why is this movie the best vampire film? Because it is the most original film adaptation of the legendary Bram Stoker's Dracula. There has never been a film like this (before or since).
This film is f****n brilliant with one of the best intro's I have ever seen on the big screen. I would agree Twilight has nothing on this masterpiece.
I think this is one of the best films ever made. It's funny how people often say "this movie is not as good as the book" just like with The Lord of the Rings. Cinema and literature are different arts. Movies are a combination of music, theater, storylining and graphic art. Literature is about ideas, thoughts and imagination. This movie is a masterpiece in every way and, at least for me, just as good as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.
@carmaj156 Yeah, it's as close as you could reasonably expect. Anyone whining that it 's not close enough to the book is willfully ignoring the fact that it is still the most accurate film version ever made, and that adapting a novel to film is NEVER 100% accurate. How could it be? Think about that for a second.
@ElectricAfroMan from IMDB trivia: "Francis Ford Coppola has openly criticized his own reasoning for casting Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker. According to him, he needed a young, hot star that would connect with the girls. "
@MsSarjen This is a matter of opinion obviously and it seems to me this new element was added to the story as part of the adaption process. The title clearly indicates that they intended to make a faithful adaptation, and I think they simply found this added more humanity to the story (relatability is important in storytelling).
To me, this appears to be a matter of yet another fanboy willfully ignoring the realities of the process of adapting a novel to film. Liberties HAVE to be taken.
When I first saw this trailer online, I can see why this teaser was pulled. Very few trailers had little or no blood, unless if it was a red band trailer that had lots of blood; this teaser, which was shown before many summer movies in 1992, was a green-band trailer that broke some rules. I used to own an NES version of the Dracula game, which I beat with my game genie. Good graphics, a haunting soundtrack, and good controls. I got that for xmas 92 since I was too young for the movie.

@TheBratKingJareth Yeah some moron manager/projectionist played it on a G or PG movie and blew it.... I played it on PG13, or R and had no complains. Good trailer
Wow now I remember this trailers even though it came out so many years ago! This is a true vampire love story. Great way to look at the book version and by far my favorite re telling of the tale. Love Gary Oldman. <3
really..I just finished reading the book and thought it was really good-Mr. Stoker made Van Helsing such a badass
and I thought the romance between mina and johnathon was sweet and the added twist of Arthur having to kill the vampire version of the girl he was going to marry..
yeah, go van helsing xD the twists were awsome indeed :D
did you know that there is a book, posthumous to stoker's death, where his notes from other characters and what happened to the main ones were compiled? I saw it on a bookshop the other day... lol xD so...
I also liked the book , but what i loved more about the movie was the fact that mina was dracula's lost bride - that was heartbreaking, i guess. =x
@morenakidah really! That's kinda cool because as I was reading the book, the first part of it says that Dracula loved at one time, but it never tells you who-maybe those notes would have exactly who it was he had this love affair with...
@morenakidah really! That's cool because as I was reading the book, the first part of it says that Dracula loved at one time, but it never tells you who-maybe those notes would have exactly who it was he had this love affair with...
@morenakidah really! That's cool because as I was reading the book, the first part of it says that Dracula loved at one time, but it never tells you who-maybe those notes would have exactly who it was he had this love affair with...
@girlwatchingvideo Yeah! Maybe. I don't know. In the cover said that those notes refered to what had happened to the characters 20 years later. I'd love to read it but at the moment I couldn't buy it :( I hope you're luckier than me ;D
I didn't really care for this version. Gary Oldman's dracula was far too sympathetic. It is, howveer the first to have all the major characters present.
F*cking Hugh Jackman, I'd rather see Mr. Hopkins kicking vampire *ss!
Oh, and by the way, Vampires are sexy because the are dark, mysterious, sinister, and evil. NOT because they are little emo vegetarian fags who glitter.
@DarkAdonisVyers Hugh Jackman played the Dr. Van Helsing in the movie, "Van Helsing". The legendary Anthony Hopkins played Dr. Van Helsing in this movie. I hope this clears things up.
@wKoRpZw this has an awful love story! The book is a master-piece
Bram Stoker's novel defeat's Twlight and this film 'adapation' (which dare's to use Bram Stoker's name in it's title) hand's down.
Dracula + Mina never loved each other in the book, plus the whole prolouge is sort of a joke and Vlad the Impaler is in no way sympathetic (look up his crimes.)
@Eagle971 30 Days of Night; wonderful movie. Goes back to Vampire roots where they were evil, cruel, heartless beings who only wanted to kill and feed.
I am from Romania, the story of Vlad Tepes is true, but we never do know how he died,is a mystery.I know the name "Dracula" since i was a kid.Anyway is the best Dracula movie ever.
For me, Louis Jourdan's "Count Dracula" (1977) was the true rendition of the book with only a few exceptions. Coppola's version is wonderful to look at but it is heavily flawed.
I so miss Cinema in the good'ol days when you told people at school how you watched 18 rated films at the big screens, especially Dracula!

@girlwatchingvideo Yeah! Maybe. I don't know. In the cover said that those notes refered to what had happened to the characters 20 years later. I'd love to read it but at the moment I couldn't buy it :( I hope you're luckier than me ;D

how in the world did gary oldman produce that laugh??? and the way he was looking just before his laugh, creeped the living daylights out of me!!!
lolaanderson80 1 year ago
Well when a movie is produced by a man named Fred Fuchs you know it has to be good.
HelloFade2 1 year ago
I didn't really care for this version. Gary Oldman's dracula was far too sympathetic. It is, howveer the first to have all the major characters present.

F*cking Hugh Jackman, I'd rather see Mr. Hopkins kicking vampire *ss!
Oh, and by the way, Vampires are sexy because the are dark, mysterious, sinister, and evil. NOT because they are little emo vegetarian fags who glitter.

@crazy4sian What does this have to do with Hugh Jackman though? He wasn't even in any related movie.
DarkAdonisVyers 1 year ago
@DarkAdonisVyers Hugh Jackman played the Dr. Van Helsing in the movie, "Van Helsing". The legendary Anthony Hopkins played Dr. Van Helsing in this movie. I hope this clears things up.

twilight's cheesy love story aint got nuthin on this masterpiece.
wKoRpZw 1 year ago 99
@wKoRpZw this has an awful love story! The book is a master-piece
Bram Stoker's novel defeat's Twlight and this film 'adapation' (which dare's to use Bram Stoker's name in it's title) hand's down.
Dracula + Mina never loved each other in the book, plus the whole prolouge is sort of a joke and Vlad the Impaler is in no way sympathetic (look up his crimes.)
Peadarisback 1 year ago
@wKoRpZw too true...but considering they just don't make new movies like Dracula anymore Twilight is alright..

@wKoRpZw
What's wrong with Twilight?
I don't see why so many people dislike it. It's one of my favorite Zelda games.
IshidaTheQuincy 1 year ago 97
@IshidaTheQuincy He means Twilight as in the vampire-show, not as in the Legend Of Zelda game

How do we go from Dracula to sparkling fag vampires..? The first Blade movie was the last great Vampire movie.. IMO..
Eagle971 1 year ago 2
Blade 2 is an awesome flick as well don't you think?
bigboss25262 1 year ago
@Eagle971 30 Days of Night; wonderful movie. Goes back to Vampire roots where they were evil, cruel, heartless beings who only wanted to kill and feed.

Who needs vampires that sparkle? This one turns into a bat creature and a wolf. Beat that Edward.

I am from Romania, the story of Vlad Tepes is true, but we never do know how he died,is a mystery.I know the name "Dracula" since i was a kid.Anyway is the best Dracula movie ever.
gajaules 2 years ago
For me, Louis Jourdan's "Count Dracula" (1977) was the true rendition of the book with only a few exceptions. Coppola's version is wonderful to look at but it is heavily flawed.

I absolutely love that film, and Gary Oldman is gorgeous.

This is a great vampire movie. Better than the CGI crap nowadays. Gary Oldman is superb. This role and his performance in 'Leon' are brilliant.
