Just did this to my LST. Took a min to figure the steering links out but it works. still need to link the servos together but for now i have the rear steering on a 3rd channel.
You might be able to do the Savage, I just duplicated the front LST suspension at the rear and modified the chassis slightly to suit, then fitted a third servo, to be fair the LST already have the servo position drilled in the chassis!
@Desawa82 Someone told me I could do it, but they didn't give me more details so I just gave up and said they heck with it, but you my friend have giving me more info on the conversion. So all I have too do is duplicate the front to the back? sounds easy i'll give it a try thanks for the info.
@civicmaneg6 You may have to shave down the metal brace that connects the pins on the a-arms and the plastic piece that goes behind that(basically removing those bumps on the bottom of the metal bracket). Thats what it took to get my steering to be smooth and not bind. Im gonna try to post a tutorial soon.
so u put the new throttle servo and steering in but how do you get the rear servo to turn the opposite way of the front. if the front go right the back go left. what do you meen by y it into the receiver. also, when ever you turn regular will it turn the rear wheels to or will i have to do that myself
The original Transmitter is only two channel, but the receiver is three channel, so the extra servo went in there. A New transmitter allowed fine tuning and selection of steering modes by mixing channels
Glad you like it, I just wish more people would edit what they post on you tube to keep it entertaining instead of just posting the whole footage including boring bits.
As I have another Spektrum radio (DX3R) I plugged the rear servo into channel three and played with the mixing so I could 4WS or crab at the flick of a switch, but yeah you could just use a Y lead and a 2 channel radio.
Right on, that's cool.....I might have to try that since I have a 3rd channel on my JRXS3 Pro reciever which I use as reverse right now on my LST2. - Thanks
How much did you pay for your Raminator??? I Just bought a Brand New 1/8th scale Nitro for $200. It's in the mail on it's way to me. I have Always had Electric so this is my first shot at Nitro. I hope I like it.
The spare parts are basically the steering system, with a little chassis modification just installed at the rear with an extra servo and Y lead to the receiver or third channel if you have a fancy 3rd channel mixing radio.
cool thanks i have an lst and i've been thinking about makeing it 4ws since i can do servo mixing with the third channel on my controller since i put the forward only conversion in it
Yup, 4WS brought a whole new level of reaslism to the model for very little effort. I can even crab or opposite lock at the flick of a switch on my transmitter!
thats really cool... i have a 1/18 raminator on the way right now... can't wait to get it... used to have a gas stadium truck from kyosho, but had to get rid of it... im stuck on the minis at the moment..lol...
man, it an ok truck, but i would get the aftershock if anyone wants a truck, gr8 truck, i own it, it also come with a better radio than the raminator, just saying
I did the 4WS as part of a review for the Raminator in Radio Race Car International magazine, you can read all about it in there, it's basically all the front steering gear duplicated and a few simple mods to the chassis, a Steering Y Lead and a servo that turns the opposite way to the front servos, or a three channel radio with mixing capabilities.
If you are in the UK they were from Argos, designed as Skate board and BMX ramps, you should be able to find them anywhere in the world, or by mail order. I have 4, they come in real useful!
Hello there, with the raminator could you upgrade the transmission to a 3 speed, not with reverse just gers one two and three? and also how much would this cost ? (Im british)
I don't know of a way to get three speeds into the Losi gearbox, revese cannot be adapted into a third forward gear as it is on the wrong side of the box hence rotates backwards. two gears is plenty though, seriously fast in the top of second gear!
I recently bought this Raminator. Litterally just broke it in about 24 hours ago. I saw that you had rear steering. What would i have to buy to convert it to rear steer?

No the Raminator does not have reverse like the Losi LST and LST2, but if you bought the LST gearbox complete, and an extra servo, and another transmitter with a third channel on so you can operate reverse you certainly could. If you want reverse it's probably quicker to buy the LST2 and get the tyres and bodyshell for the Raminator!

It depends what you want to do with it, if you want to go fast and make sweeping turns, yes 4WS isn't for you, if you want to put on a show in a restricted areas 4WS is perfect, and besides, we jumped it in the video, works for me!
yes true and it lookes cool too but i stricktly bash!!!!!!!!and change your clutch springs to savage springs and run 30%way faster mine pulls wheelies all day!!!!!!
i have a wheely king that i made 4ws, not really like your nitro, but 4ws makes the wheely king more fun. drive more like a monster truck, and it helps in climbing the rocks.

I converted the rear to match the front by adding a steering kit and modifying the chassis rail. Dead easy, great fun, extra realism, so do it!

taz1175 2 years ago 2
Just added the steering parts at the rear of the chassis, was simply really but very effective.
Desawa82 2 years ago
Yeah, I kinda figured that....but then did you just add another servo to the rear of the truck where there is a space for one ?
And did you need an extension for the servo to plug into the receiver ? - Thanks

yup, a servo hole is already in the chassis under the fuel tank, didn't but had to modify the side rails to clear steering links. Copy the front.

2 questions:
1. is the raminator 2 speed?
2. what video pregram did you use to make this video?
bmx5566 3 years ago
Yes the Ramionator has the same two speed primary drive as the LST on which it is based. But not reverse and low range like the LSDT and LST2.
The video was complied with my camcorder and Ulead VideoStudio 8.0
