Hi everyone !! Im on ABC News !! I just wanted to say to all my friends I havnt seen in a while so HI !!! You have to watch them both untill the end.... Ken
I think Mike and Zen are a perfect match. Mike knows what he has under him and she seems to respond well to him. I got the privledge of briefly speaking to Mike at the 2010 Derby and I asked him just how great he thought she was (him knowing I'm a huge fan) and all he said was "She will be remembered for a long, long time" with a wicked little grin on his face.
I don't understand why so many people hate Rachel Alexandra. Zenyatta was done no injustice of not getting Horse of The Year in 2009. Rachel was undefeated in all 8 starts, including 3 against males (not to mention track records). She's also a horse, and has done nothing wrong. Yes, she's lost two races this year. I think the Personal Ensign will tell us a lot. In the meantime, this will probably be Zenyatta's year, so there's no reason to dislike Rachel.
I loved this one. You showed a career, and then a remarkable once-in-a-lifetime race, and a great, great champion. Perfect music. I flew out to Arkansas to see her in the Apple Blossom this spring because I wanted to SEE her. Never have I spent money better.
I loved Ginger Punch...I followed her for her career, and I was like "who is this Zenyatta?" I got chills when I first saw Z...I think you have done a fantastic job with this and the music is perfect!!!
Love it! Thanks for including my Queen Zenyatta A Treasure poster! Whenever I'm at the track to watch ZEN race, I always smile :-) when she "plays" to the crowd! She is truly sent from Heaven!
I'm a fan of both Zenyatta, and Rachel Alexandra, but now I'm leaning more towards Zenyatta. Zenyatta is still unbeaten, while RA was defeated by one of Zenyatta's stablemates. If she makes a top of the unbeaten list, or atleast high in it, they need to give this mare HOTY. I admit I doubted her running on convential dirt, but she was fabulous in the Apple blossom which was on convential dirt.
Who did she beat? She beat whoever was in front of her. What more could she have done? There's no way of knowing. What Zenyatta has done so far is to beat whoever was there, every time, handily, without undue effort. Mike Smith says he's never gotten to the bottom of her nor even close to the bottom and I believe him. I went to the Apple Blossom on Friday and it was like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. She's more than a horse - she's a star, a goddess. GREAT video tribute to a phenom.
Both Rachel and Zenyatta are the greatest race females racing has seen for a long time. I say we should all stop the stupid fighting about which one is better and enjoy seeing both of these two girls race. Good Luck today Zenyatta and get your 16th win. I'll be cheering for you.
Well done - the ending of the music seems like it was written just for this. Love looking at the size of her in the stalls - look at that engine. God bless and keep her. As Mike Smith has stated - the horse of the decade.

I'm in Rachels camp. She defeated very good horses in all of her wins-made history in the Preakness Hasklell and Woodward! I tire of critics who say" but she was tiring at the end"! Who gives a crap! She was first across the line-that's what counts! Zen beat a less than stellar bunch-the smallest Classic field in memory. I think that someone should start divisional awards-voted on by FANS,not 160 reporters from major publications. There is no excuse not to!
I'm all for RA as well, but I disagree with you. Zenyatta beat nearly all of the colts that RA had beaten in her three races against the colts. If Zenyatta raced against "a less than stellar bunch" then so has RA. You have to give Zenyatta credit, she is one of the greatest fillies in history, and RA belongs right next to her, but just because you support one horse it does not mean you have to hate on the other.
It's not her fault that her races this year weren't exciting. She's so good and wins so easily, people get bored with that. It's not like the horses she beat were bad, she's just in a league so far and above the rest that it looks like their bad.
Who she beat might not of been too great (partly the mosses fault for keeping her in Southern California) but how she run was impressive. Almost every race was not set up for her at all. The fact that she can circle the field, win, even with snail-like fractions and still have her ears pricked is what was so great about her. She was never full out, not even in the Classic. We never got to see the best of her and that's what was so amazing...
I'm a bit surprised Rachel's running in the Apple Blossom, she's not going to be ready by then for the race of her life. I'm weary it's going to actually happen.
It hasn't happened yet. We'll see if JJ shows up or has another excuse: too wet, too dry, too cold, snowing, doesn't like to race on dirt. (The last was a sarcasm)
@carlykaiser GINGER PUNCH...Absolutely humiliated her in her first start on dirt in the 2008 Apple Blossom. Ginger Punch was coming into the race having won the 2007 Eclipse Award for older female. She went on to win 3 consecutive G1 races after Zenyatta humiliated her. Then Zenyatta decided to spank her again in the 2008 Ladies Classic.
@carlykaiser NOT MUCH BECAUSE LIKE OVERRATED RACHEL, MOST OF THEM ARE SCARED TO RACE HER...haven't you noticed this? The 2010 Apple Blossom is a good example.
Who cares about horse of the year? I don't. I admit until about 2 years ago I had no idea eclipse awards even existed... and it makes otherwise astute people criticize and put down champion racehorses who have made history in their own rights. Go Horses! All of you.
You should try watching some of her other races. She could run on poly or on dirt. She won easily and this was some of the best horses in the world at a mile&1/4All hail the Queen-Zenyatta
Rachel won some big races, but Zenyatta beat the best horses. Beating the best makes you the best, I don't care how many weak three year olds and washed up older horses you beat, quality should trump quantity.
I agree with you about Rachel Alexandra's campaign (except for the fact that she only beat Summer Bird once); but to say that Zenyatta "dissappointed 364 out of 365 days of the year"??? Winning in hand while carrying 129 pounds is dissappointing? Not being beaten once in five appearences is dissappointing? I understand that RA had one of the best campaigns in the history of the sport, but that doesn't take anything away from Zenyatta.
@lengua92 RIGHT I keep on thinking he was in the Preakness!
But I should say Zenyatta's owners disappointed. She really should have been in the Big Cap, Goodwood, Hollywood Gold Cup, what have you. Not races like the Milady, or Vanity.
I do think Rachel should win HOY. She did a lot more then Zenyatta did. She had 4 or 5 great performances, when Zenyatta had 1. Don't get me wrong, Zenyatta staying undefeated through the year was good but those races were against fillies. Perhaps if she'd run against males a couple times the tables would be turned.
Most of Rachel's wins were against 3 YOs, and not the strongest group either, overall. Zenyatta dominated a far stronger bunch than anything RA faced. I can see voting for either of them, as strong cases can be made for both of these Amazons. They are remarkable and made 2009 one of the best in memory for those of us who love racing!
@tallstech0711 Since the race was made, these horses (to my knowledge) won without winning the Classic or any other BC race (in that year)... 02: Left Bank 00: Lemon Drop Kid 99: Victory Gallop 98: Skip Away (did win in '97 though) 96: Cigar (did in in '95 though) 94: The Wicked North 93: Bertrando 92: Pleasant Tap 90: Criminal Type 89: Blushing John (I think he won a BC race... maybe?) 86: Turkoman 85: Vanlandingham 84: Slew O' Gold
Oh no! Much of that info is wrong and I dearly apologize! Somehow the source I used just put older make horse as Horse of the Year! Real HOTY's that did not win the Classic or another BC Race... 01: Point Given 99: Charismatic 98: Skip Away (did NOT win it in 97, the year he won the Classic) 96: Cigar (third that year) 94: Holy Bull 93: Kotashaan 90: Criminal Type 85: Spend a Buck I am very sorry for the inaccuracy. I knew something was wrong with it!
i love it

Summer Bird is a very fine three year old, who any other year would win HOTY and Rachel beat him by daylight on multiple occasions.
