The bad guy has killed your father and you want revenge, and he has loads of money and weapons, and your friends join along but in the end grab the money and weapons (they used you). You yell at them and spark a fight where they ally with the GM and say you joined the bad side and we're wanted dead.

How about... everyone refuses to join you and your stuck to face him alone and your friends realize he has money and weapons so they join.
They use you and you yell at them and you fight. You escape barely and they allie with the gm and they set you up to be the bad guy.
