This is getting into Bob Dylan territory. He makes the images, backed by the gorgeous tunes, and you're free to give it YOUR meaning. I do love this kind of thing.
L, I must have missed this comment. I'm taking the day to watch all these videos and remembering why I uploaded them in the first place. I LOVE your reaction *holding hands and jumping up and down* People dismiss a lot of good things in their lives by underestimating it. ^ ^
Bought that album fresh off the presses. It's funny you got all that info from this album. I heard Jeff live on the radio at it's release and they were asking for explanations about the songs. He would say. "I don't know really" they just fit the tune. The guy on the radio said Jeff you've got to give me more than this. He didn't. I know he was mad at his record company at the time because they made him do things he didn't want to. So he probably was getting them back. This a great concept CD.
Hey Ed, sorry I missed responding to you earlier. It's hard to think with this song playing, it takes me so many places. I always thought when artists responded like that they were just not interested in divulging their personal feelings. We all know what that's like, right?
This is a great album (and band, 'cept for maybe the really early stuff - it was pretty weird!). One of my favorite lyrics (from a different song than this one) is "I met someone who looks a lot like you, she does the things you do, but she is an IBM".
Ever listen to the "Buggles"? They have a futuristic-themed album like this. "I love you, Miss Robot" reminds me of this. :D
The album is "Living in the Plastic Age". You'll certainly remember "Video Killed the Radio Star" (their only big hit) but I liked the rest of that album, as I did their second album (which is even more obscure). :D
Definitely one of my all time favourite albums. Thanks for the upload.

The song has a hypnotic resonant refrain. You could listen to it until .... the rain stops falling!

ELO has some die hard fans but comparing them to Dylan is quite a compliment!

OMG, I LOVE THIS. I never listened to ELO in my life, because I got some kind of silly idea in my head about them being superficial.
You snuck them in on me, kind of, and I Iiked this song a lot. Good for you, and me!

And putting Robert Zimmerman up on such a high pedestal can give you hypoxia just thinking about him, tee-hee.

This may sound odd, but when I read the words Robert Zimmerman I actually heard your accent and we've never spoken. Spooky~

He seems to be singing about looking down upon the continents from a vantage point in near-Earth orbit. Or do I digress?
