  • @CholokoiAlmi

I agree with you! because of that kit

    offered by the site:

    TopWoodWorking.info

I produced fitted furniture that my

daughter was highly delighted by it

and can safely say that her room are

a whole lot tidier. That kit really gave

    me a great helped!

  • 5:45 im pretty sure you can take as many rares as you want, its just that you cant have more than 2 of the same unit, in other words you can have 2 treemen 2 eagles 2 units of waywatchers etc.

  • 8 glade riders per box times 3 boxes = 24 not 15

  • @gingaballa no one suffers movement penalties in forests any more

  • wat is that base thing at 1:55 because im new to wood elves and i wanna keep my foot troops in tht plz reply :D

  • do u recon u could re do this for 8th edition plz?

  • What is the biggest difference between 7th and 8th edition ?

  • @emilious14 probably magic, but loads of stuff has changed

most of this is irrelevant now

  • @emilious14 biggest how? close combat magic and moving have the biggest changes but there are tweaks in every single phase/aspect of the game.

  • Best comercial picture if you pause at 6:35! lol! I love wood elves, thanks!

  • I used to play a pure Asrai army without any tree-unit. Very hard to keep avoiding enemy, but Warhawks helps to delay enemy, archers grind down big blocks of infantry and waywatchers grind down elite. Then attack with Wardancers and Eternal Guard. Not always winning tactic, but really enjoyable to play a really rewarding one .

Good vid BTP, nice job :)

  • ive started a wood army and im new to the game and i was woundering how do you know what points each units are.

  • @winterace96 The point costs of the units are listed in the Woodelf army book.

While sketching out a woodelf army worth 1250pts I found that the average cost of the units herein (including characters) was 25pts. (50 models in all).

  • What is the OUTRO music pls? nice video (WE begining player)

  • "should we do another one? ... I think we should"

  • this is cool because i just finished a 1002 point army

  • I play wood elves! i dont think there too hard to play! there alot of fun

  • 5-stars...excellent!...(bretonnian player)...yes! I swear someone told me you can make an entire ent treefolk army in warhammer...but flaming arrows give them fires...this rings a big bell in my brain...also use lord of the rings figures of ents and tree beard! (25mm) the only army I envy!

  • Oh god, my inner nerd is screaming for me to let him out. Who's to say I can't be a soldier and a nerd at the same time haha. I used to play warhammer when i was young (12-13 years old), the wood elves specifically. I still have my army too, but they are the old models. The wood elves got reworked later on. After looking through my old collection, it is very tempting to collect a brand new wood elf army. Collecting and painting the army was 90% of the fun, the playing was just an added bonus.

  • I've played wood elves for a good 7 years and I love them. I've tried a heavy melee army, a forest spirit army, a shooty army, and some mixes. High maneuverability and manipulation of forests does such destruction to front lines of big block units and other cavalry. This army is, as our host put it, a finesse army, and he is very right. I haven't had any trouble against much other then skaven. There is definitely no hard counter to wood elves, but maybe some soft counters like skaven or empire.

  • im thinking for my second army i want to collect wood elves after seeing this. at the moment i collect ogres, and woodelves will be a great change. but how many points should i build my armies up to? because i dont want 5000 points of ogres if nobody else gets more than 3000.... what is the norm?

  • @MJtheKandyman For decent large 4-7 hour games 3000pts is usually taken, a normal evening game is 2000, which is the amount most people play, but id usually take up to 3000 points even if i only play 2000 for the variety factor

  • tomb kings would fail horribly against wood elves as of they are chariot based. where as a slow advancing black orc army could stay out of range and suddenly charge in with giants for a wound taker and if they make it smack them around abit before black orcs come in one the charge. i have a 2000 point list if anyone wants to know it its anti elf anti dwarf anti tombkings anti empire (somewhat) but chaos pisses me of

  • Wood elves are pretty good and my friend has only cav, archers and ONE level two mage. Hard to beat with my high elves!!

  • for wood elves can you convert the mounted elves to footed elves and can you convert the models to close combat weapons

  • Eternal Guard are Special, they become core IF a highborn leads the army.

  • wow wood elves are really cool i might be converting the glade guard

  • Ive started collecting wood elf and have a few regiments ( though none have been fully completed yet). too bad the rulebook costs a bloody fortune, what should've been free is instead expensive. Im saving up for one with a friend.

  • wood elves are the best and for anyone that deny it are just big haters

  • Your opinion i guess...i say dwarfs are best and if YOU deny it, your a big hater :P

Arguably the best shooters in the game is dwarfs (lol)

  • You said correct you if you're wrong. That depends. They can snake past two units if fast cav, but cannot go within 1" of any enemy unit. That gap you had looked a bit on the small side as if within 1". But of course, that was of the movement tray! a cav base is a smaller front so -might- make it.

  • i dunno which elves to collect can someone please help me pick out of dark high or wood elves PLEASE !

  • go one thats not in your club

  • go for the one that basically no-one plays

  • dark are more powerful but wood are fun and can be as good or better i collect wood elves

if your new then go 4 darkys

  • woodelves are the best army in the game.

  • wood elves cause more fun to play

  • Go for the woodelfs They have nice shirts and jeans i love the colors green and broun i like the woodelves but you have the choice

  • Wood Elves are way underated i wathched a match "K points wood elves vs Dwarfs the dwarf play betted £20 that he wud win.....he lost his £20 haha on him

  • i am looking 4 someone to help me make a cheap army for under 2k points cos when i walked into GW and said my first ever army was going to be wood elves they looked at me like i am insane.message me plz and we can talk and make an army. ps. BTP u rock u inspired me to start playing

  • @tomtomgo51 my first army is wood elf so those guys were justing being assholes, look up wood elf army list. ive seen lots of good suggestions for armys

  • @tomtomgo51 wood elves are a tough army to play with in the new rules, they are very fragile and easilly squashed. dont get me wrong, i love them, and i play wood elves myself, but they are hard to play with. thats probably why they thought u were crazy

  • and Treemen are a must I use 2

  • If i used dryads as my core and 2 treeman no one at my club would play me and call me cheesy anyways lol.

  • Sorry to hear that man, they sound like sore losers to me.....I'll still help ya make a list, I have LOTS

  • another thing is Treekin are by FAR the WORST choice youcould go with in a WE army. Dryads and 1-2 units of GR are awesome for Core and WARDANCERS FOR THE MOTHER LOVIN WIN!!!!!

  • You are a WE noob if you think Treekin suck. They are pretty much the best ogre-sized models in the game. Like most of the Special choices the WEs have you don't *need* them in your army but they are extremely effective if used correctly.

  • I'm a noob because I think Treekin suck? Whatever you say son, and if you use everything correctly in fantasy it's going to be extremely effective....I'd really love to hear your valid points on why they are so effective

  • They can take a charge from pretty much any non-ranked unit and still win combat most of the time, they are the most defensive of all ogre-sized units with T5, a 4+ Armor save and a 5+ Ward, they hit extremely well with WS 4 (they need 3+ to hit just about any other ogre-sized unit which requires 4s to hit them), they are immune to psych which means they never flee from your other troops running . I've been using them for years. Saying they are "the worst" is just ignorant.

  • I know what immune to psych is, I know the rules of Forest Spirits, their stat line/saving throws, the "to hit" chart" and what size base used, etc so please spare me on that. The best thing you said "any non ranked unit" Really? Non ranked units....What is a majority of armies in the WHFB universe? Ranked troops? Yeah they are, not all but MOST. And at 65 pts a model with a "loss" on mobility because of wheeling etc. No thank you! You're taking away from the best asset in a WE army - MOVEMENT

  • Take a fricken Treeman instead, no loss on movement and he can still kick the crap out of pretty much anything that comes his way and with stubborn at Ld8 and all of those extra goodies he gets, yup he's a winner in my book. Hence why I use 2, a lot of people will disagree using 2 because of the point cost but oh well it works for me. And I haven't lost a game with my WE yet, so I must be doing something right

  • Learn to read - i said they can TAKE a charge from any non-ranked unit and still win combat. Every time my Treekin get charged by Ogre Bulls, Wardancers, Kroxigors or even chariots I laugh because they usually win. On the offense, they hit like a ton of bricks and are great at taking on RANKED units. Everything in our army needs combined charges and Treekin are about as great a combined killy unit you can find. Plz, every one knows about Treemen and every WE'er has two of them.

  • take out your bluetooth!!! AHHH!!!

  • Hey BTp and shawn (correct me on my spelling if i'm wrong!) i'm going to start a warhammer army because my gaming club has lots of 40k and lots of fantsy and we are having alot of fantasy tournaments now so i was loking into uying some fantasy items. What was or is your favourtie fantasy army?

  • And finally, most WE units are made of 5, sometimes 8-10 characters. That's not that much to paint/buy! :) If you're talking about the eternal guard, I can understand you, but most players leave those at home. Might need to get used to not play with a single big block of infantry, but it works.

Best of luck and may the wind guide your way

  • I beg to differ concerning the cost. 24 Glade Guard, 12 dryads and 6 Glade Riders (could be wrong, let's just say the batallion box) nets you around 80 euro's. If you have a money converter, look it up how many dollars, pounds or whatever that is. Over here they are quite expensive. Anyway, could you tell me which models are plastic and which aren't ? Thanks for your helpful advice.

  • Well, I think 8 glade riders, 12 dryades and 16 archers are the only plastic figs you can buy (each box 30€, yes I'm in belgium :) ). But here's what I did. I order greater commands in the UK since the pound is around 1.14 atm, you can get such a box for 20€ (18 pounds vs 30€). The box you're looking for sells for 48 pounds on UK GW site. That's 54€ (add 10€ for shipment) which is a very fair price for GW-standards

  • I can 't order anything overseas. Thus, and given the fact that I have to get my stuff at a very small local store, makes that I have to wait very long and that they are very expensive for me.

  • An example of this kind of tricks you have to get used to is to regularly flee charges with your light cavalerie (not wild rider ofc since they're immune to psychology) or stay within 8 inches around big, expensive enemy blocks so that they can't use their full movement speed (I'm not sure about the term in english, since I play in Frensh, but it's something like forced marching: e.g. orcs can only move 4 inches instead of 8 when you have ennemies near them)

These are ofc only examples :) GL!

  • Whoever is interested in some more details, I think that some of his ideas are great, but something important for wood elfes to know, is that they need a certain training to get used to. The very best advice when you begin a wood elf army, you really should read up tactics on the internet or you'll get regularly ripped apart on the battlefield... It's hard, but beautiful, original and UNIQUE army.

Best of luck with them :)

  • Can you help me ? I have started a new Wood Elf army. I've heard their best units are all metal. I don't want to use metal (like eternal guard etc). Are their any things I can use from other armies (like high elves) or LOTR (like ents / tree kin) that are plastic and useable in a wood elves army with converting ?

  • Sorry for posting 3 times in a raw here, but Kerstmanneke deserves a response I think.

As the gentleman above here stated, light Glade riders and archers should be the core of your army. I've been doing a lot of research on the net and mostly people play 2x 8 dryades, 2x5 riders and 2x10 archers as a core. Adding to that wild Kurnous riders, a treekin and dance-fighters (or whatever they're called) is mostly the way you wanna win a battle.

  • Thanks for the information. But I wanted to know if there are other plastic models (for example from the high elves) that I can convert to use in a Wood Elf army, since I am reluctant to work with metal models. Thanks !

  • what do you think of eternal guard? army list keeps looking like it has no muscle. love the kiting and killing but want some muscle just incase. what would recommend u, the special unit riders, tree kins, or eternal guard?.

  • go woodelves =)

  • I'v always wanted a wood elf army. But when I started to really collect them GW pulled all plastc kits from shelves for a new sculpt (the new sculpt is the current one) but I still have some classic one- pose archers and an oldschool treeman.

But of course there's money issues like I'm getting a deathguard army.. Oh man let's face it you people couldn't care less about me talkin' so I'm gonna say just 2 thumbs up for BTP!!!

  • Fast Calvary can't move between units like that. There is a rule that states that when you are within 8" of an enemy unit, you cannot march, ONLY charge or just move regularly.

  • I start 9" away, march, reform to go through you, continue the end of my move, and reform in a line marchblocking both of your units

  • in the rules of fast cav it states that they may move at double there distance with NO penalty

  • oh

haha nevermind my comment on the intro to highelves

    i never saw this video

  • sort of the dark elder of Warhammer fantasy

  • Would you recommend foot-sloggers for a Wood Elf army? Just for more shooting?

  • true, but i think he ment you can make then go single file and run throught the middle of the two units which fast calvery can do.

  • but then he charged from the back and to move to single file is a reform so that would be point less

  • you can't move them past a unit side ways

  • Just a note, glade riders come equipped with both Bows and Spears. So you can do two things at the same time with them, instead of the one close combat, one ranged option.

  • would you do a orc introduction?please

  • what is this music in the beginning of your video?

  • It's generic royalty-free music.

  • I wouldn't say that any wood elf unit is "hard hitting" in CC. Dryads are skirmishers, so they don't get ranks. Tree Kin are too expensive to put into large units. Treemen are single models.

I had a my Stardragon isolated from my army. They surrounded it w/ 2 units of dryads and defeated it easily.

Moral: wood elves dont win one on one. Isolate an enemy and hit them from multiple directins.

  • 3 boxes of glade riders would be 3*8 which is 24. but you say buy 3 boxes and you got 16 glade riders. just something i noticed, but i love woodelves and this treeman army sounds great.

  • Thank you. I meant three units from two boxes. Good save.

  • Hi, during the video the camera cuts off what you are saying. I'm very interested in starting a wood elf army, could you possibly explain in a reply or something how they picked you apart?

I'm having a hard time picturing how i could do well with Wood Elves as they seem pretty difficult to play. So any info would be great.

  • Wood Elves are difficult. It's possible to do an army that scatters on the first turn, making them almost impossible to pin down. They dance around the board and when the enemy is scattered, they move in for the kill... bringing to bear multiple units on a single isolated victim. An army that does nothing, and turtles up, will end up losing the shooting/magic game. The downside is that it doesn't take much to blow them up.

  • Also, were they 4 units of 5, or 4 units of 8?

  • Four units of Glade Riders, each five strong. With a sixth model; a hero.

  • Can you do one for empire please. Ive been looking at them and they seem kinda fun.

  • Wood Elves will be the fantasy army i collect if i ever return to the warhammer franchise. I love the tree men and tree-kin models. Although i'm more of a fan of the old tree-kin model.

  • I like the sound of the all treefolk based army. do you have any ideas for converting a treeman into something special for the general?

  • Oh yeah, Ultraforgeminiatures puts out two good treeman kits. Also, use branches and moss to beef out any treeman kit.

  • Cool, thanks. The treewoman on Ultraforgeminiatures looks amazing!

  • You are wrong shaun. They cannot go through those two units because no unit can be within 1' of another unit, ever, without a being in close combat. If they were more spaced apart, you could..

  • Thank you. I thought, that, too after I made this video. So what would the gap need to be? 3" for a single file line to pass through?

  • Oh! I feel stupid, I think its they cannot END they're movement within 1', but I didn't look it up, because my friend owns the book. But if what i said before is true, then yeah, it would have to be 3' because cavalry at the side is 1' wide, and needs 1' of space on either side.

  • ya,you cannont move side ways. what you where doing was pretty much makeing horses so a side step. but because they are fasy calvery they can re-form X amount of times so re-form them into a long row and walk down the middle of the enemy column then reform once more and go to town with shooting : ]

  • So you could reform the Fast Cavarly twice in one movement faze? Is that so?

  • Yes they can. As long as no individual model moves more then it is allowed.

  • could you do this for the warriors of chaos

i'm thinking of starting a fantasy army but i'm on the ropes about it.

  • i was looking at wood elves yesterday dude you are a mind reader lol

  • I love getting 3 spell singers (normally play at 1500 points) and just tree surf the whole game. It's even better with my treekin in the front of it. ;D

It's also great to get moonstone with a wardancer and a troupe, and just keep the enemy on their side while you shoot 'em down.

  • On the fast cav moving thru the two units, you need to remember that the can not pass within 1" of the enemy units.

  • Wood Elves are my favorite Fantasy army. I think Dryads deserve a mention. They are pretty devastating with their high strength, high toughness and fear-causing ability. I like to include units of 8 in my army.

  • Someones' addicted to fantasyyyyy :)

  • I've never been a fantasy fan, and to be completely honest, I would rather these videos be about 40k. Though I appreciate Shawn's expert knowledge in the fantasy realm. Also most of the previous videos have been about 40k, so I suppose it's time for some of these videos to be about fantasy.
