The color looks better on the Flip, but the focus is better on the iPhone. I would go for the iPhone, because you can edit the color in iMovie or another application, but the Flip is a unitasker.
I prefer iphone video because colours look faithful to me. But Flip one has got better handle of highlight (brightest part) while iphone 4 had highlight blown out which is a problem. Although iphone 4 wins due to sharpest focus. It would have been nicer if iphone 5 will be much better with able to handle brightness a lot better, so the white part is not blown out. Thats what I reckon.

I think the flip's video is just slightly darker but based on the fact that there's a mic jack, plenty of apps (including imovie), and so much more I say the iphone takes the cake by a long shot but just basing it off video I say they're about equal.
@BEPcrazie Yeah the flip has a better picture, but my computer can stream the web and I have Steam to play actually good games, I have Skype which is better then phone texting, when I drop my Flip it doesn't shatter into a billion pieces. Sorry but the iPhone is junk, I think my PC, Flip and normal cell phone are much better. Also the Flip does what it was designed to do, be a good pocket sized HD recorder and I am content with that.
@AdmiralMadox skype is on the iPhone, and instead of needing all those things, you can fit it all in your pocket with the iPhone. Remember, the iPhone 4 isn't made for recording.....also, they stopped selling the Flip Video cameras.....So yeah, even though the quality isn't as good, its still does a lot more....I am content with that.

Steam and PC has good retail games, iPhone has an AppStore that sells crappy $1.00 games, and if you don't have a PC you can't really use an iPhone, so if you have an iPhone you already got a PC that can do all that the iPhone can do and better.

No doubt that the Flip wins in everything except focusing. I actually HATE flips and would never recommend it to a friend, but in all honesty it is better than the iPhone's camera. With that said, if I had an iPhone and was in need of a pocket camera there is no way that I would go out and buy an extra device.
Tl;dr: the Flip Ultra HD wins but everyone wants a device that can eliminate other hardware.
Thanks for doing the comparison. I'm planning on buying the UltraHD, but if the iPhone is any better I'll pick that up. The iPhone 4 is very cheap huh? Isn't it only $199? Almost the same as the Flip.
From a neutral perspective the iPhone 4 clearly wins for the sharpness and light..wonder how the flip hd would even do against the 3gs it looked that out of focus..
I think the flip HD is better because it doesnt enhance the video like iPhone 4 and thus makes it look more real life. iPhone 4 was still pretty good though. However, I will wait for the Nokia N8 to be launched before buying a new Smartphone. N8 looks more promising than iPhone 4 with all the features it has
@coin3 Oh that's true...I hate Apple products...I have tried the PC's and they are really slow and I have tried the iPod touch and it's very delicate compared to Sandisk Sansa's. I would take a Zune over an iPod and they don't even sell them anymore...
