  • You guys are AMAzing! Im impressed with your work and These projects are inexpensive ! I love it!

  • I stuffed mine with PolyFil. You can also go to mattress stores, and ask for their old warn out shredded foam, as one of my friends did. I stuffed mine with Stuffing rather than scraps because I use my scraps! Lol!

  • The lady kinda has small boobs

  • she said boob LOLOLOLLOL!@@!@!@!@

  • how much cash do you have to spend on the water activated tape? i got everything else

  • after this is made could you practice your knife skills on it and just duck tape the cuts back together?

  • I tried the duct tape method last year (before breaking down and just buying a form). When they say "breathing is good", they aren't kidding. I didn't even realize I was suffocating until I tipped over XD

  • Great video Thread, but a question. What about a head? Would you use the same method if you want to make a head form?

  • @cougarmoon777 You would buy a head block.

  • I saw a young Eric Beck in there! Geeking out!

  • This video is a favorite on Japan

  • Why not use a T-shirt instead of the garbage bag like on the duct tape vid?

  • @zekehooper Because you're using water activated tape... you would get wet

  • this is awesomeness

  • this is brilliant

  • Thank you so much!! I've wanted a body form for so long, but couldn't spend the money on it!! This is going to help so much!

  • could u use news paper instead of scraps

  • how much length of tape do you usually need? im trying to buy some online

  • boob area lol

  • am i the only one that was really excited to see eric beck from indy mogul

  • Wow! Do you know how much these things cost to buy even on ebay? This is fantastic. Thank you.

  • i was watching this vid with my brother and his friend in the room. After she mentioned the "boob area" all i heard was laughing from them. never watch with other people in the room or just wear headphones.

  • Awesooooome thanks! :D

  • Will be trying this!

  • Where do the arms go? The video needed a bit more detail.

  • Thanks, I had one from paper, but it waers out ^ ^

Here they are really expoensive by the way - somewhere around 300 leva ^ ^

  • YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! I AM SOO GLAD I FOUND YOU!!!

  • ive been looking for this..

  • I had an urgent need for some small people body forms for use and display for my recycled aprons but little ones are big on staying still for too long. so i preformed the duct tape versions. but the stands are my favorite - used messed up CAMERA TRIPODS. They are about perfect too.

  • I've made one of these before, and it was the most useful thing ever. I didn't use scrap fabric to stuff mine though, I used plastic grocery bags left over from a bunch of pre-thanksgiving grocery runs haha

  • 5:00 THAT IS ONE PSYCODELIC ASS STICK!!!!!!

  • is it pin friendly? like if i put pins in it, will it fall apart? :O (PLEASE answer cus i wanna use this)

  • @NADZninjasnDinoZ Yeah it's pin friendly, just be gentle...I stick pins in mine all the time, and it's fine.

  • @NADZninjasnDinoZ You could always tape the clothes on or stretch some fabric over it.

  • WHAT IS ERIK DOING THERE I MEAN THE MAN WHO CHOPPED OFF THE BRANCH AT THE END !!!! he plays in the key of awesome

  • @dreamer8m i think they all share the building

  • thread banger is a nice name for theses things

  • packing tape: shut up your victum

    scissors: murder weapon

sponge and water: clean up mess

    garbage bag: dispose

  • cant wait to make this

  • Where am I going to get a Christmas tree trunk in the middle of July??

  • @pemchem u can just lay it on a table or u can go 2 staples and get a pole. then just put the form over the pole. hope that helps!!

  • aohh my moms right it is called the bust area lol i thought it was called something else...

  • @RockPrincess13sc Haha perv!

  • Could fill with expanding foam.

  • i love this idea because you cant buy a body form for your body exactly especially when youre not a skinny little stick like me!

  • Comment removed

  • lol whats with all the pictures of piccolo?

  • Pretty awesome and very helpful channel...I found your channel thanks to Lady Gaga....

  • Can I just use a two by four as a stand?

  • i was trying to buy a body form and it costs over $200 and it wasnt even in my size...im so glad i found this!!!! Will be making this soon!!!!

  • I live in the Caribbean and dress forms are VERY expensive.. I finished my form last night. a couple of notes

    1. Keep a fan on you or be in a airconditioned room while doing this... its like being in your own personal sauna...

    2. Wear a t-shirt that you no longer need... the garbage bag is not only dangerous as you can overheat but will disintegrate over time...

    3. Wear a BRA

    4. Leave it to dry overnight (from the sweat) and then overlayer and stuff it.. Stiffen it with papier mache..

  • @ABajanWoman1

Hey i see you've made yours a while ago so i was wondering

does the packaging tape get goopy and ruin your pins and fabric like i hear the duct tape does over time?

also, do you snip thru the back of the bra when cutting up the back of the dressform?

    thanks :)

  • Thanks. Worked great.

  • "breathing is good" thanks for the tip you guys :P i'll try not to forget that :P

  • Thanks for the video. I've been looking at different forms but being a woman on a diet, my figure is shrinking so I'm unsure which one too get and they're not cheap. With this method the form can be replaced relatively cheap without breaking my bank!

  • seems like you would want to wear a bra so your boobs are where they are going to be when you wear the clothes.

  • Just wanted to say thanks, the idea has been done many times by others, especially in the Prop creation side of things (you think crazy sci fi suits come from no where?) but I haven't been able to find gummy tape, Staples had been overlooked though - and watchin your vid reminded me they exist.

  • Bandage scissors would be easier on the model.

  • I want to use an old electric fan base instead of a tree, I just have to figure out how to keep it from being top heavy!

  • @StrangePuppyPam Can you fill the base of the fan base with quickcrete? I'm not sure how deep yours is but ours was pretty deep.

  • thanks soooooooooooooooooooo much! I so needed a body form!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you know that on ebay there like, 200 dollars! this is awesome!

  • thanks soooooooooooooooooooo much! I so needed a body form!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This video is my absolute favorite because all it cost me is time and effort. Thank You Thread Banger l- l- l- !!!

  • I really needed this video

  • "paper packaging tape" is what is written on the real product @ Staples. In the instruction it mentions 1)fiberglass reinforced 2) gummed adhesive seals with moisture. 2.8inches*125 yards about 7.99 dollars. In case anyone wants to get it.

  • I wanna try this. Might I suggest perhaps going to the hardware store and getting a length of pvc pipe. You can get it at a bout 2in diameter most places. I doubt a bunch of people keep a tree trunk around. Don't know what to do about a base for it though. Gotta think about that some more.

  • make sure you get enough tape before you try this! We used brown box tape but only had one roll- enough for a basic hold of shape but will need tonnes more. Also I put a coat hanger inside it instead of a stick so I can hang it up anywhere I need and put it away easier.

  • Great projects for the DIY community...thanks!

  • i so loved watching this it was very informative and as a seamstress im goin to save lots of money makin a form instead of buyin one. thanx

  • I FOUND WALLY!!!!

  • @GetsOftenConfuzzled IT'S WALDO!! >:DD

  • do you have to use water activated?

  • What do you do when you get stuck in your body form? Oops.

  • I'd probably do that with duct tape. Just because I'm twelve, and broke. And we already have duct tape, so i wouldn't have to buy anything.

    THREADBANGERS IS DANG AWESOME!!

  • shes topless haha!

  • Thanks! Although I might stick with the duck tap as this one looked a little complicated. But love the post! Really informative.

How can I follow you on Twitter?

  • Just made mine! Its pretty good with the packaging tape, the only thing I would have different is use a thinner plastic bag (used a thick one and it made layering difficult) to make my body form more accurate. Overall, I just saved about $100+ by not buying a factory made mannequin, so im happy. Maybe in the future Ill buy a professionally made one but because I dont sew too often, this is good enough for me!

  • I like it!!!!!!

  • Not to be mean but Rob looks like an ass.....something in his eyes gives a stuck up attitude.

  • Sweet Shite man, blearggghhh...too bad I'm too lazy to make it =_=" and have about none of the materials ...

  • could you use something else beside a tree stand?

  • I might actually make this. A dress form would make sewing for myself so much easier.

  • Dear Erik, I can ACTUALLY break a board in half with my hand.

  • did you know that you dont have to use a old xmas tree trunk... or a swivel one.. you can always just break an old broom that has a wooden handle.. it would work the same but with the broom stick you dont have to smooth it out

  • great idea i dig it alot

  • IT'S DUCT TAPE. Just saying.

  • This was super helpful! Thankyou soo much ThreadBanger!

  • thanks..I got 1 roll of this tape and made one last night..it's really better than the duct gtape..this can stand by itself ..it is stronger in deed! thanks....I always check your projects and ;earn a lot..way to go!!!

  • where can I buy the water activated packing tape? I have been checking in walmart and some store but no luck..thanks...

  • @Lyn1079 they bought theirs from staples

  • @xjluongx thanks..I will check it.

  • @Lyn1079 maybe staples?

  • this is really helpful....thanks

  • this is really helpful....thanks

  • is the promotion still available??

    i like to have the 50 threads..please

  • is the promotion still available??

  • what can u use if u cant buy water active packing tape where u live

  • IM SO DOING THIS!

  • Amazing! You guys are awesome! I've been needing one for my gothic lolita costume, and you guys really pulled through! thanks! <333

  • can you put pins in this dress form? would it be wise to glue fabric on the outside sufface?

  • @cozmicgirlsd27 Im curious too have you tried it?

  • you guys are my heroes

  • '''wow thanks!

i just made one myself ;)

    so easy to make

  • Oh...they make it look so easy... <3

  • it's ERIK!!! :(

  • very creative love it

  • Corrine's gotten so pretty!

  • PVC is toxic, I wouldn't recommend it. You could also use plastic shopping bags to stuff the body too I bet! :D

  • Very informative.. can't wait to try it! Thank-you!

  • ive sewed on knitted fabric on to mine so it looks more professional

  • Instead of using packaging tape. You could use Masking tape! It would replace the duck tape way of doing it. But it will be easyer to use and it won't stick as quike. Plus you can work with it a lot easyer over all. Less or a mess than using packaging tape! And not as hard to work with as duck tape would be!

  • @cartoonkeith1 Masking tape comes on smaller roll, is too flexible and thin, and would require more layers. You did think of a feasible solution, but the main reasons of doing this is removing the odor and and making a form that lasts longer.

  • @cartoonkeith1 good idea it will be alot cheaper too. thanks ill have to try it

  • @vballernumero1 Not only that..it will sae you a lot of time or give you more time to work with too. Then after that and the scrap stuffings and such. You should spary or paint on a hardener. This way it will stay in the form that you want and need. And you can use it over and over if need be to make any other type of costums you might need or want...

  • @vballernumero1 good thinkin ill have to paint mine. i just finished mine : )

  • Thanks the vid!!! I just need a body form! ;)

  • I tried this and it worked so amazingly well! I LOVE the results, and it's so cheep and handy :D

  • Ha, I wouldn't mind wrapping her!

  • In North Carolina, Greenville, where can one find this water-activated packing tape?

  • So if you are making one to make yourself clothes would you wear a bathing suit or a light bra? Or no bra? Lol. Just curious..

  • @ashpear524 I would wear a bra...I mean you're going to be making clothes for your body and girls wear bras regularly so that will effect how the clothes turn out

  • @ashpear524 just in case you ever wear stuff without a bra (for instance things with built-in bras), I would recommend not wearing one, since it's always easier to put on a bra later than to try and figure out what your form would look like if you weren't wearing one.

  • That guy looks wrecked! XD

  • lol that contest is just asking for identity theft xD

  • That's so awesome! So economic! I'll do this! Seriously, you rock!!!

  • I almost suffocated doing this by myself. I recomend doing it with a friend. I used duct tape though

  • I almost suffocated doing this by myself. I recomend doing it with a friend.

  • I miss these guys SO MUCH!

  • Just love it so creative. : )

  • I'm surprised the video wasn;t like 20 minutes or something.

  • corrine u look so pretty here

  • make sure your model stands up straight!!!!

  • thank you so much!!! I need one n now I can totally make one YAH!!!

  • i have a skinny buddy i need on that small

  • i want to make something out of long socks. do u think u can do an editorial on that.

by the way, u guys rock!!!!!

  • I would wear a bra whilst doing this project

  • this looks fun i'm gonna try it

  • Would this method work for head forms and leg forms also?

  • Could u use paper mache?

  • Love the hair Corinne...very Fergie like :)

  • Corynn looks like Fergie in this episode!

  • @laurenurq I thought the same thing!! lol

  • Good video, but one problem,, the dress form should reflect the body, IF you are going to wear a bra,, a bra needs to be worn while making the form,,other wise, the cloths that are made from this form will not fit right,,,the model was fuller in bust (with bra), than the dress form is,,

  • just below the boob area. lol!

  • you can get 100 feet of packaging tape on ebay for 10 bucks!

  • hey guys i'm 16 years old and i just started a blog. I'm doing a 365 day challenge involving one same article of clothing for a whole year. come support me on blogger!!! thanks

  • @katiewaffel Really..... Should we be worried?

  • I'm having a hard time finding the water activated packing tape. The staples I know is too far away, blahhh I'm lazy haha

  • @graceisahurricane any tape will do.

  • @graceisahurricane You can order it online from the Staples website, and you can try finding a closer store with teh store locator on the site. Plus you can check other stores like Michaels or Office Depot

  • Could also use an old broom or mop handle for the base, etc.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!! you guys are so cool!!! i would like to see some more summer ideas for 13 year olds please!!!!!!!!!!:)

    I love your show

  • Check out my award winning video produced for Howtofashiondesign on the conjostudios channel:

  • awesome.

  • Somebody went to State art using this technique!

  • you guys are so creative! this is so inspirational thanks

  • I am old enough to be your grand mother, but I am totally impressed.

You have motavated me to pull out my sewing machine and get back to sewing.

I was crafty when it was not "KOOl".

Thanks for bringing out the crafy in all of us old girls.

  • where do you get the packing tape im in the uk and it is nowhere help!

  • @dalekmum you can buy it in art shops; it's used for stretching paper and things like that. :)

  • @dalekmum it's called gumstrip in the UK, any decent art supply shop will sell it (its used for stretching paper for watercolours) :)

  • after the paper form is made can you fill it with the expanding spray foam instead of the scraps? just curious?

  • Oh wow this is the sh*t. I always saw the duct tape one. I understand why you do it topless for more accuracy to your size, but why do it braless. If you normally wear a bra and then make clothes according to a braless form...won't the finished product fit differently?

  • @hipretty you only need a bra on if you have a significant difference in placement for the breast apex between having a bra and not having a bra. In other words - only if your boobs sit lower w/o a bra b/c of size or sag. Typically, when creating clothes, you don't want them skin tight anyway. You can always put a bra on over your dress form and drape on top of that.

  • Approx how much tape did you use?

  • @highmaintenance79 I Used not even Half a roll, Me and my friend were both able to make one with, one roll. Were both fairly small though, were both around 5 feet tall, She smaller, me a but taller, so both rounded to about 5. Were both around 100 pounds too. So I guess you could go from that, we made ours kind of thin, but they still worked out.

  • So thread banger, thank you for the Idea! I actually did this with my friend two weekends ago, the actual body forms took around 3 hours each to make, Just thought I would say that, now that was just for me and my friend, the time could always vary depending on the person, just giving something to expect ^.^

For stuffing, I actually found that using my scrap Fabric was too heavy, so instead I used old newspapers, old papers from school, ect.
