I'm an Aussie who has lived the majority of my life in Europe, and I cannot for the life of me understand this sense of grieveance some Aussies hold to managing this situation. Why does an international issue become so parochial when debated in Australia? I'm not putting you in that boat (pun not intended) but seriously, can anyone answer that?
Well, I don't agree with that comparison between modern asylum seekers and the ancestors of white Australians; I think that's a totally different situation and a ridiculous comparison.
