  • happy fish...lol

  • An aroma candle in the kitchen... interesting.

  • try this recipe

    opencookeat.blogspot.com/2011/08/saffron-fish.html

  • Can you please tell me how long to let it cook if not using a pressure cooker? Also, if I decide to buy a pressure cooker, do I just let the pressure build then let the pressure go down on its own? Thanks a bunch :)

  • Is it healthy to cook fish with yougurt? I heard you can't eat fish and milk together..

    Thanks for excellent videos.

  • @Limelights1 yes it is - I have been cooking like this for ever and have never faced any issues.

  • @sfehmi

Ok, then. Maybe it's an old wives tale that fish and milk can harm you??

I will try your recipe inshalla...

  • This is looking good, but I would rather have it hot without the coconut milk, never tried fish curry, but will do after watching this! :-)

  • Thanks Sfehmi. I LOVED the idea of methi, it works superbly! Thank you. Love your cooking style.

  • wow I made it today just too good...thanks for sharing..

  • Food is better then the false make believe PATHETIC American accent :-)

  • wow that looks yummy. i will try it. Indian food is so tasty. i'm not indian, but always love spicy food.

  • I made fish curry first time in my life.. I used Salmon and this one turned out excellent. Thanks.. Wonderful recipe

  • Hi, could we replace yogurt with a coconut milk, if yes, what quantity should it be?

  • @JohnFortman I would not recommend using coconut milk for this recipe as it will totally change the taste. This recipe gives a taste of Qorma. Having said that I would say try it both ways and then you be judge.

  • @sfehmi: What type of yogurt would you recommend?

  • @RockyBalboa211 Plain yogurt - no flavors. Preference will be with Fat ( non fat will work fine too) Any brand will do. If you know how to make yogurt, nothing like home made yogurt.

  • I tried this recipe and it turned out great. Thank you so much. I hate cooking and thus can't cook at all, but this was easy and very delicious.

  • would this be ok with talapia fish???? or even mahi mahi? I really would love to try this but I do not like king fish to much..thank you.

  • @MzHakkagirl yes - mahi mahi will be better than talapia. Enjoy

  • how long did you pressurize the fish? thanks

  • @buddyn2007 5 minutes - if you do not have a pressure cooker cook for 10 to 12 mintues - fish cooks fast.

  • hi,i just tried your recipe.its super easy.i used fish fillets instead of fish steak cuz i didnt have them i must say it was very delicious and the good thing is it has so little ingredients unlike other fish curry recipes on youtube

  • @starbud1 - Thanks I really appreciate your feed back. Thanks for trying my recipe. I hope that you will also try some other recipes too.

  • dear sfehmi i tried ur meat dishes like when u blend yogurt with fried onions they were really good and i liked the idea of blending yougurt with fried onions.out here we do not use yogurt in fish recepies and that too with mustard oil ,generally coconut milk is added and the oil used is any non flavoured oil .is adding yogurt and mustard seed oil together ok .i think mustard oil is used in dry cooking only .it would be nice if u could explain .thanx though ill try this dish.

  • @drdukeful - I am guessing that when you say here we do not use yougurt you are referring to some part of India. I know that several people call this a no no. However, it is proven that there is no truth in the myth that fish and yougurt should not be eaten together. Same goes with mustard oil. For this dish you can substitute mustard oil with vegetable oil. This dish does not use any coconut milk and that is why it will have a taste that will be very different. Do try and tell us.

  • can I add cloves with the mustard seeds???

  • @vlhere yes

  • thnaks alot for ur prompt reply,i will do as u have suggested and will c what the result is...i hope it works out for me,i also had nvr experienced this prob while being in pakistan, but since i have been living in france i just cant cook any dish that requires use of yougurt in it:( i dont know whats the prob with the yogurts here, it curdles as soon as the heat is increased and i get grains of yogurt in the masala with a very bad taste..so i stopped making any dish with yogurt..thnx alot again

  • Hi Sheba, where do you live? I like your recipes. thanks

  • @monubabu USA - thanks - please keep on watching my channel I regularly post new recipes

  • hi,i've been watching ur videos for a couple of days...and i know just by watching that ur dishes are delicious..i will start trying them one by one very soon. i have watched ur mutton and chicken curry recipe video and u have used yogurt in it..well whenever i put yogurt in any of my dish it starts to disintegrate and instead of making a dish taste good it gives a very bad flavor to it..i have used different yogurts but same result:(what can i do abt it??? i live in france..plz hep me sfehmi..

  • @TheFoodie24 - You are buying plain yogurt right - Try diluting the yogurt by adding some water or making a yogurt and onion smoothy as I do at 2:51 in this video.

This should do it. I have never experienced what you are refering to. I use plain non fat yogurt.

  • @TheFoodie24 the reason ur yogurt disintegrates is coz of the sudden high temp it is put through...it is always advisable that before adding the yogurt mix in the pan u take a spoon of masala(or whatever u r adding it into) n add it to the yogurt to bring its temp down..(if its just out of fridge) and also put small small quantities of yogurt in the pan..not all of it together ..what sfehmi did with the blender is a good idea coz it also increases the temp of the curd..hope this helps

  • its looks very yammy...thanks

  • Khook, Khup, Thoo, Khind... Khoriander (Coriander)

  • I like her fake accent...:)

Khook (cook), Khup (cup), Thoo (two), phepper(pepper), .....thable (table)

  • i don't like fish.....

  • people say healthy food is too expensive: indian food is fresh and not so expensive, it only takes a little effort. If everybody in the USA only ate indian food, no one would be so fat!

  • Wow!!! I am sure that was heavenly! I am sooo hungry :(

  • can i make this curry with fish fingers?

  • @vikasbhardwaj007 - not a good idea. Fish fingers are coated and are only good for frying. You need good fish to have a good fish curry.

  • @vikasbhardwaj007 No that will not be a good idea

  • Hello,

I add tamarind paste and tomatoes to the fish curry, and its really yummy!!

  • this girl is very good

  • Looks yummy. Is it ok to use Cod Fillet?

  • gud job

  • When you cook food for that long you kill all the vitamins and nutrients. Nice video though, looks tasty.

  • looks yummy ,, that's why I am gonna marry to an Indian lady and eat curry everyday

  • the Malays in Singapore lovee Fish curry..we never forget to eat it papodam...

  • Looks great!

  • yeah

  • Good recepie madam. you could have used Fenugreek instead of maethee so that natives cud have made it out! nonetheless, thanks for it! sarmad -KSA

  • good recipe, thank you.

  • hiya, what yogurt do you use?

  • Plain non fat - otherwise whatever is available in your area.

  • (Sebyjoseph) you dumbass actually when the fish does ooze it doesnt make the curry smell!! Thats the way we cook. if you dont like it then why the hell are you watching this video and making rude coments like that?!!

  • with regrads,it is expected from your end to be civilised and a well cultured woman,no one has got a right to humiliate others through his awkward and uncivilised words ! may God bles you.

  • yea i understand you...its jsut that when people post and do some really ridicuules stuff thats when i get ticked of...and also when you got some stupid people suporting her who does not even know the simple basics of cooking ...then thats just bad...CMON im 16!

  • tried this today with tilapia and it was good. very nice recipe and nice video. easy and simple. thank you sheba! would like to see a recipe for dahi baray.

  • I tried this recipe and the curry was very yummy, indeed. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  • wowwo good

  • LOVED YOUR RECIPE

  • I use coconut milk instead of yogurt..

    what's the difference?

  • Yogurt has active cultures. I don't think coconut milk does. Coconut milk may also have more sugar. I add coconut milk to my curries if it's too spicy. I'd hesitate to cook with coconut milk. How does it taste in a recipe like this?

  • Coconut milk is used to thicken it, that it. The Coconut milk I use is not sweetened at all.

  • coconut tastes better ^^

  • Hello:

I was going to try this recipe, but although part of its name has the word curry, I didn't see where you mentioned that word. Is it just in the name?

  • Curry is a general term used. The sauce/paste in which the fish is cooked is the curry referred to.

  • @sfehmi where can i buy some of these ingredients?

  • Nice work, we liked your video very much so we embedded it on ChefCommons . com w/ link back and reference to Youtube. (Let us know if you don't wish for it to be featured)

  • hey sfehmi .. i feel very happy when u say happy fish or chicken while cooking ... i just love them .... my husband likes fish curry a lot .. but i prefer fish fry ..... but i guesss it looks like i am going to chage my opinion soon ....... going to try out ur receipe soon

  • mmmm! i wish i could eat at your house..looks delish! i have never eaten indian food before but looks good. Thanks for the video!

  • yummmmyyy....just perfect...n healthy!!!

  • Thx for subscribing.

  • This looks good!!!...just subscirbed!!

  • i would like to know how u use the yogurt , coz when i put in yogurt in the curry tht i tried@ home, it gave a sour taste to the curry and it was not what i expected it to be. am i going wrong somewhr?

  • I usually blend the fried onions with the yogurt. Then add this to the curry and cook it for atleast 15 to 20 minutes on slow heat. You should not taste the sourness of yogurt if it is cooked well as the spices take over the taste of the yogurt. Yogurt helps in building the consistency. Try step by step as in the video and you should get the same taste.

    Best of luck

  • I was craving for curry for lunch today, theres only one indian restaurant here where i live and i drove 30 minutes to get there when i got there they were closed...had to settle for thai matsaman curry...its just coconut milk doesnt really sit well in my stomach.

  • can we use corn oil as well? or is it healty and suitable for curry dishes?

  • Yes - you can use corn oil. There will be no major difference in taste.

  • Hi,I love your cooking, only if you could tone down your accent, which sounds so "cultivated" it would be perfect! Thanks and yes you are a very good cook and teacher!

  • Thank you Sheba, I tried your fish curry and I was pleasantly surprised as to how delicious it tastes. Thanks and I love the way you explain, simple and to the point. I am gonna try your happy happy chicken soon :)

  • I never knew there was fish curry...wow seems yummie

  • It's the greatest. My ex was Indian, and upon breaking up with her, I realised how stupid I really am. (her parents would cook fish curry for us all the time)

I am the world's stupidest man.

  • Hey don't be so hard on yourself!!! Have a beautiful day. God bless

  • yes, my ex was an indian, whenever we went to indian rest, she used to order only fish curry, and I was like "eww ! fish curyy?" and i was ordering usual dishes like chicken tikka masal or lamb curry etc, til one day i tried bit of her fish curry and never looked back...

  • ----great..thanx

  • Thank you for the nice fish curry

  • awesome

  • wow!! that looks great!! I never thought that onions, yogurt and fish would look so good! lol!

  • looks delicious!

  • Wonderful dish. I will definitely try this soon. Question. Can you recommend your favorite pressure cooker? Thank you.

  • I cant say if I have a favorite pressure cooker. I have used several, if I was to buy another one I would go either for Prestige or SEB depending on availability and cost.

    Hope that this helps

  • thank for posting this marvelous and mouth watering video... after all our patience has brought good fruit

  • looks yummy ..am going to try it out 2morrow ,thanks alot ...have a quick question for you ..have u ever tried making chapati ,phulkas with a non-electric tortilla press just for rolling out part?

  • Thanks

As to Chapati with a non-electric tortilla, no I have never tried it. May be it is useful when you are making chapatis in large quantity.
