It doesn't seem that the Russian Orthodox Church is actually causing any crackdown on Protestants. Perhaps government officials are, but all the Russian Orthodox Church is doing, is preaching against Protestantism, not out of hate, but out of a love of truth. Russia is an Orthodox nation, this is the identity of the Russian people: to maintain an Orthodox Christian society, and to live in the Church of the Apostles.

Where is the New York Times documentary on Western European regimes? Arresting people for "hate speech" in the name of "free speech"? Restrictions of public preaching or speaking? Book banning and censorship? Reading the New Testament can be a charge of "anti-semitism" under "hate speech". Forbidding Muslim women to cover themselves in France??? WHERE ARE THE RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS IN WESTERN EUROPE??? I have yet to see a New York Times documentary on that.

Cry me a river, it's a shame for New York Times to portray Russia's recovery of it's TRUE IDENTITY from the evils of Communism and etc.. I think MORE ATTENTION should be displayed on the Religious Intolerance of Saudi Arabia and etc., Why does the world accept that as a given? Or when a Lutheran Priest was arrested in Sweeden for "hate speech" for reading a "homophobic" passage in Genesis 19? Where is the "freedom of religion" or "speech" in this case in Sweeden? Why no criticism of Europe?

Protestants should go and harrass Muslims instead of trying to create confusion in Christianity with their heresies. Why is it that they create problems with thier 33,000 different sects, but Jews, Moslems and Buddhists don't? Why doesn't each sect just stick to himself? They say that the "Church is invisible ONLY" anyways.

I think church unity is a good thing. As long as there not arresting anyone harming or killing anyone because there protestant I dont have an issue with it.

Actually, I'm an Orthodox convert from the southern baptist convention and if I could speak Russian, I'd move to Russia.

I don't think pointing out flaws with protestant or catholic doctrine is wrong, it's honest. As for causing problems for other churches, it's not right...

@tsamuel1984 Much agreed! The Church Fathers prophesied that after Communism, Russia would be repentant and return to Christ's True Church.

Not to say that protestants should be forced to do anything, but Russia is an Orthodox nation.

@RussianPeace1 Come on, here I am defending the Catholics and defending the Crusades and their actions, LOOKING PAST what they have done to Orthodox Christians, in order to see the GREATER GOOD of what it has done to Christianity. Catholics are not treated the same way as Protestants. And the New Patriarch wants better relations with the Catholics. Why can't there be atleast ONE Christian State??? Let the US be democracy, and Middle East be Muslim, but as for us, Let us be an Orthodox state.

Where is their concession to be willing to GIVE UP and ABONDON their Loyalty to Islam, by seperating religion and state from the Islamic regimes? This is RUSSIA NOT AMERICA, can't you see the difference. No true Russian beleives in "democracy", we believe in CHRISTIANITY. And about "athiesm" where was their religious tolerance under Communism? Jews? Where is their RACIAL tolerance in palastine?
