i have a hv20 but when i go to the hd standard setiing there no 24fps there is only one 25fps what should i do please help. thanks

You have a PAL camera, so you won't get 24p. NTSC cams do 24p.

HV30 is nearly identical to the HV20. The only differences are 1)the HV30 is black, and 2)The NTSC version of HV30 has an additional 30p recording mode. Everything else is exactly the same.

The image quality is phenmoninal.

I love the hv20. But the low light performance is not goot at all :S

One reason for a smaller optical zoom is that this camera has a large (and better quality) image sensor. A big sensor can not have such a wide range - its a bit like with film where a larger guage like 35mm has a more shallow depth of field to 16mm or super 8. Or something like that anyway.

The local Circuit City was trying to get rid of it since the HV-30 hit the market. We got our HV20 for $430 or so.

Can the HV20 use normal DV Tapes to record High Def? Its not necessary to buy the more expensive HDV Tapes? Thanks!

they don't tell you the full story that HDV's format is 1440x1080 & NOT 1920 x 1080.therefore you're never going to get REAL 1920x1080 .even so this is probabley one of the best hdv cunsumer camcorders currently on the market at this price

yes, you CAN use mpeg-2 camcorders on macs, I have a camcorder that compresses through mpeg-2, and I use a mac.

Sorry, u are mistaken. Macs do it all. I have the hv20 and can export and convert to anything.
