  • nice shot of the block signal

  • Over here in Sydney, Australia, some of our trains have a similar start-up sound as 0:04. Same tech I guess.

Look up "c set departing" and "t set departing" and you'll hear the similarities.

  • The same powertrain is used in some subway trains in China and Korea.

  • The signs are so small, you can't see them. The bigger signs were definitely better.

  • the sound and picture rocks

  • your about to see R62A's if u live near the 6 i think

  • whoever gets on that train will have to deal with seeing this...

    D - Astoria Ditmars

  • Actually the train is signed as N. The annoucments say, "This is an Astoria bound N train via the D line."

  • y was it going on the local track then they run them mostly on the express track

  • they said that alll the r160s and r 143s r going to go on the d line and r30s are going to go on every all other bmt and ind lines -----------lol

  • ooooh ok.. thanks

  • UMM wat line is this??

  • That was a N via the D line because of track work.

  • i saw something last night that looked like a r160 D :/ wasnt sure though it was going fast

  • Oh fuck! It's really Siemens?

  • the D is running r160's now?

  • no. This was a General Order that put N trains on the D line.

  • ok, thanks because some people told me they rode in a r160 D

  • look like the yellow line

  • umm i been on a d train but never new thary look like that

  • what station are you at?

  • MTA has the fastest, largest, safest, and coolest subway system in the world. nuff said

  • I have been all over the world, Ive taken many different subway systems, I live in Paris and New York... I have to tell you through experience, the NYCT is definitely the largest in the world, it is also so fast, take some of the express lines, ur talking nearly 50 mph, that is around 80 to 90 k/h, the Paris subway only goes maximum 55k/h...

  • uh yeah watever.we both have our good n bad points.

  • okay...we run on 750 volts DC...no offense...but your cars look like metal boxes...our cars here are C651 cars...

  • hey now... urs are ugly... theyre big white ovals with a red stripe... ours are colorfully decorated with stainless steel n black n the flag and the MTA sign :/ we are also the biggest Subway system in the US (MTA ROX)

  • yup it is one of the biggest subway system in the US but i think our train(nyc subway i live in nyc)looks like it has been wrap with sheet metals around a steel cage with no color except for the 140, and the 160 series in the front

  • yeh tats true but ur system has too many accidents or incidents lol

  • yeah, righht.we have a clean record over here, but we are packed in like sardines during rush hour.you guys may have accidents but not so packed.

  • latest accident in washington dc metrorail in in January 7, 2007

  • hmmm the accelaration is similiar to the siemens C651 trains we have here...do your trains run on third rail?

  • Yep 600 volts

  • so times that 1by 10 and you have 6000 volts,so those third rails have about 600o volts+,you touch it and you got your self a crispy hand to eat,(im hugrey lol)

  • This sounds a bit like BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit)can you tell me what is diffrent about this line and the subway, because they sound diffrent but i dont see anything diffrent.

  • BART uses ADTranz/Bombardier 1507C traction motors on their 439 1st gen cars that were rehabbed.

The Kawasaki R160B in this video clip uses Siemens traction motors.

  • is much more slower than bart and safer than bart i think if im wrong plz correct me

  • hmm, if they can put 9th ave, fort hamilton pkwy. etc.... why cant they put the R160 on the D Line, they use the R68's like the N except the N has the extra A at the end of R68. R68A

  • since when did the N and D line's run togather on elevated tracks?

  • they don't, the N was rerouted on the D line in Brooklyn

  • Well, those people can't make cell phones but they sure can make great subway cars. Are those coming to the A line at the end of this year?

  • Nope

  • The D line is my favorite line on the whole MTA system. Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn.

  • I wonder how long it will be before they put R160Bs with Alstom motors and R160Bs with Siemens motors on the same train.

  • The sounds wouldn't be that great.

  • i dont think they are compatible....

  • They are not. You are right because the sounds would interloop and sound so annoyingly incorrect.

  • They tested this about a week ago. It seemed to work all right, although the set is no longer together.

  • Brooklyn or the Bronx?

  • Brooklyn on the West End Line(I think). This can't be in the Bronx because the only IND line in the Bronx is the Concourse Line(B and D), which is underground. All the other lines in the Bronx are IRT and do not use these trains.

  • 100% brooklyn bc the N never goes to the Bronx nor does any Broadway (yellow) (if ur gonna say the 1 line goes to the bronx i kno that but im talking about the yellow as N Q R W). also. the N runs on the D when there is counstuction

  • I never thought I would find this one since i dont ride the line often. Thanks for catching that sound.

  • The R142A and the R143 have the same propulsion sounds.

  • departin 79th St

  • Just look at that zoom on your camera! You zoomed to the next signal - 60 feet!

  • you should hear the sound off the 4 train its good

  • Should hear the sound of TTC T1 Acceleration almost similar. Subway cars are made by Bombardier.

  • wow they do sound better then the Alstom I hate how it makes that squealing sound when leaving.

  • just saying, sound like a bullet train.

  • awesome! I definitely prefer the sound of the Siemens over the Alstom.

  • This is a cool sound! It sound sort of like a spaceship!

  • haha~ :p

i think the sound of r160B siemens is wonderful too

  • Thanks a million!

  • i nver new that the r160 is in the D line i thought they only has the r68

  • That R160 was a N Train running over the D Line because of track work.

  • but in near future they will probabily be on the D line for ONLY THE YANKEE SERIES SPECIALS.

  • so this is a D train?

  • N Over the D Line.

  • ohh, ok, i thought they puted new trains on the D line

  • awesome.

  • Nice!
