Kind of reminds me of Life At Ten at last years Breeders cup Ladies classic the way Blind Luck performed in this one. Something seems not to be right about this filly.
Maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age? But something reads as awfully suspicious to me now about Blind Luck? This filly was racing like she was on fire nearly all season long. Suddenly, she shows up for the Lady's Secret. Run's dead last of 7. Then she's just as suddenly thrown onto the auction block? For all the talent Blind Luck has shown throughout her career. I'm afraid those circumstances would make me very leery about buying this filly now. TJMO.
@GBeret83 I agree it looks odd, but it's hard to say. Apparently 8 G1 winning fillies are going up for sale at the Keeneland Nov. mixed sales (Nov.7) including (I was surprised by this) Royal Delta. I guess the owners must think she's done and they can get more out of her by offer her up. She has won at 1-1/4; Shadai bought her dam, Lucky One in foal by Empire Maker. May be they think they'll get a good price for her.
@711ATOM I'm sure you know this by now, but Royal Delta wasn't purposefully thrown onto the auction block. Her owner, forgot his name, Prince Khaled I think, passed away earlier this year and his entire stable went on he auction block. Her new owners fully intend to run her this year. The only worry now is the new owner's go to trainer is Pletcher, I hope he bucks his trend and keeps her with Mott. Won't take Pletcher long to butcher that filly if he gets her.
@711ATOM I read my own comment and realized I made a mistake, Lucky One is, of course, the dam of Blind Luck. I was working of memory and I remembered that Shadai Farm had bought the dam of a prominent American filly and I got it mixed up in my head with Royal Delta.
Since this was the first time since 2007 that someone other then Zenyatta won, it was nice to see Zazu win just like Zenyatta would! But zazu is beaten so I don't think she's the next Zenyatta! She's got alot of wins left though! Zazu and winter memories are my favorites!
On the other end of the spectrum, I'm glad that Zazu came out victorious. If anyone was to upset Blind Luck she was my pick to do it. She looks absolutely stunning in person, very tall and strong looking, and still looks like she has more growing to do. LOVE her graceful stride once she gets going, she looks lighter than air. Great win and look forward to seeing her in the BC. Another terrific run from Ultra Blend, very gutsy mare, hope she also gets a shot at the BC, she'll do fine I think.
@morzloks Yes thanks for confirming that. I know Blind Luck is out, but am glad to hear Zazu will be at the BC. Even with the absence of Blind Luck, and most likely, Havre De Grace, the Ladies Classic should be an interesting race. Lots of talented 3yo fillies in there.
Totally shocked at Blind Luck. I mainly went to Santa Anita today to see her, and boy my jaw dropped when I saw her struggling today. I'd love to know what went wrong, because CLEARLY something was indeed amiss. Perhaps too much time off?? This was NOT the Blind Luck I'm used to seeing and love seeing. Well looks like if She even goes to the BC at this point its for the Ladies Classic. Hope she can rebound well off this and go on to win that, if they take her. She definitely deserves the chance.
after this performance, or lack of it, i guess this puts havre de grace in the lead for HOY. dont know whats up with blind luck but she has to come back and win the BC ladies classic to have a chance at HOY. havre de grace doesnt have to win the BC classic cause she already beat the boys in the woodward. but what about zazu, what a monster she is. i think im watching stardom bound run when i watch zazu.

Totally shocked by this race. Zazu did what Blind Luck normally does and was supposed to so. My heart will always be with Blind Luck :-)
