  • Actually, Howard McGillin eventually did play the Phantom. I guess playing Jasper may have been good practice! :P

  • This is a beautiful, haunting song. I got kind of a 'Phantom of the Opera' feel from it: an older guy using music to force his affections on a young woman? Yeah...Needless to say, this is a gorgeous song, and the singer's voice is fantastic!

  • this song just took my breath away especially with Patti Cohenour singing this sooo angelically.

  • This is one "tan" video. =p

  • Why is this not on iTunes? :'(

  • Your video is a favorite on Denmark

  • Patti Cohenour.... just great! Such character in her voice, not simply a voice singing a beautiful song.

  • Gorgeous song

  • I just saw this play at my sister's high school. I love it so much! Ahhhhh

  • I am so in love with this song...I can't even handle how much I love this and how excited I am to start singing this. <3

  • 1:16-2:00 is the best part. So gorgeous.

  • Patti Cohenour has had one of the best Broadway soprano voices, in my opinion. I also recommend Renee Fleming's rendition of this song.

  • I had the privelige of playing John Jaser in a production of this show in Texas. It wa so much fun being the vlllan. I got booed and hissed when I ga raced the stage then applauded when I sang my musical numbers.

  • I dont get this song can someone please explain to me.

  • @zombiewoundsx Rosa Bud, a beautiful young woman, is taking voice lessons from a very shady, older character named Jasper. He is an opium addict, slowly going mad, and has an extreme, sexual fixation with her even though she is engaged. During one lesson, on her birthday, Jasper writes this song for her, and forces her to sing it while he plays. The songs contains all of Jasper's poetic, erotic fantasies of her.

  • Beautifully haunting song...and sung exquisitely!

  • And in the moonfall, all sound is frozen still,

Yet warm against me, your skin will warm the chill of

    Moonfall, I feel its fingers

    Lingers the veil of nightshade...

Light made from stars that all too soon fall.

    Moonfall that pours from you.

Betwixt our hearts, let nothing intervene.

Between our eyes, the only sight I've seen

Is lust'rous moonfall as it blinds my view,

So that soon I only see but you.

  • Between the very dead of night and day,

Upon a steely sheet of light, I'll lay

    And in the moonfall,

    I'll give myself to you.

I'll bathe in moonfall and dress

    myself in dew.

Before the cloak of night reveals the morn,

Time holds its breath while it conceals the dawn

  • my friend can sing this better than the girl singing it here- shes amazing. Im so jealous.

  • Beautiful song! I'm using it to audition for Secret Garden!

  • can you post the lyrics please?? Great song, really appreciate the post!
