  • Wish I could of been their to seen that. Unfortunately I dont have a military ID, so I can only get on the base for air shows pretty much.

  • Bad Atlantis!

    No humping!

  • Listen to all the idiot kids in the background going OOOH AWESOME AAAHH IT'S GONNA HIT US MOMMY!

  • @legolord575 Especially at airshows, it's so annoying, and the little kids crying when you hear the roar of the awesome F-16 or some fighter jet.

  • wow!

  • Bet that's a bitch to parallel park.

  • ironic that the vid stops at 7:47... (boeing 747)

  • Not really.

  • Learn the definition of irony.

  • Learn the definition of getting the point without being a wiseass.

  • Yeah, dont get me wrong, i see your point, but its not irony, its more like coincidence

  • That is so cool!

  • at 31sec i think thats my little brother on the truck standing on top

  • I miss offutt. As a kid I lived next to it around 992-95ish. What exactly happened to it? Because apparently stuff was moved. When I lived there you could see a few giant red white and blue rockets standing tall straight down my street. And that sr 71. I went to that aksarben place a few times and a few air shows. Man i miss this place

  • FYI: I mispoke on the video... saying that Offutt was an emergency landing site for the shuttle. That emergency landing site in Nebraska is actually the Lincoln Municipal Airport which has a nearly 13,000 foot long runway.

  • Hey there, Do you live close to the landing strip? I was just wondering because here in England I live approx 5 miles from Elvington Airfield (ex RAF) and it too is a NASA emergancy strip due too it's 3000 metre runway. If you've seen Topgear it's where the 280mph jet car accident happened and also has a museum with the only working halifax bomber and a victor nuclear bomber.

  • I don't live close to Offutt, however my father-in-law (who being former military... was able to get us on to the base) lives within sight of it.

You might be interested to know that Offutt used to be home to a wing of the RAF as well. They flew Avro Vulcans out of here as recently as the 80's.

Not coicidentally, there is a Vulcan on display at the Strategic Air and Space Museum west of Omaha.

  • Hey. that cool that you could get in to the base . I know that loads of US troops a stationed here but I didn't know that it happened vis versa. If you have Google Earth then if you type "York UK" and look south east of the outer ring road you will see Elvington Airfield with loads of rare aircraft including the victor outside on display. I'm looking at the planes outside the Strategic Air and Space Museum but I can't tell what they are, can you?

  • I remember seeing the Vulcans. Especially in the late 70's. Weren't they the only bombers that have be stationed at Offutt?

  • Fantastic.

Too bad I didn't see the SCA at all along her two day trip home.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Thanks for the video - I wish I could have went to Offutt Sunday and seen it land.

  • amazing. thanks!

  • wow...all these years I always thought the jet could only take off with the shuttle piggy back, but couldn't land with it.( would separate and land on its own). News to me...nice video.

  • that was when they was just testing the shuttle to see how good it flies when its coming in for a landing.

  • yea thats how they test run the landings hehehehe

  • That was awesome!!!

    Thanks for sharing

  • Fan stinking tastic! Thanks! Please add to the title or description "STS-117" and more people can find it.

    Wow! thank you!
