Touching the subject of Kyo's and Iori's apparent deaths in this game, I think this game really meant to have the two die in the ending due to the dialogues. Moreover, how is it that Iori surives to having his torso pierced by Kyo?

and there is a story of what happens in 98 but it is mostly about SHINGO finding kyo and talking to some of the characters and training with some since due to what happened in 97 the canceled it

thats why SHINGO looks exited when he fights kyo in kof 98

you're right KOF `98 um is a masterpiece remaked from another original masterpiece. and kof 02 isn't a bad game. but by history, gameplay and characters, from kof 03 till today, all kof were thrash, specially maximum impact.

'98 is very fun and has more moves, but for '98 controls are not as fluid as 2002 (though I don't like the latter even more for the reduced moves, combos and Super Desperation Moves and NO team pictures), and unlike '97 it has NO storyline!

If it has a storyline, fluid controls AND the use of Kyo's vacuum fire SDM BGM in '97 over the horrible '98 BGM I would say '98 is the BEST KOF game EVER.

Best ending!! I wonder if it will come true that Orochi well be brought back. With that whole Orochi ressurection happenin all over again in the recent Kof games. I hope he does and they make him difficult to beat. He seemed to easy on Kof 97 even on Expert Level.

Basically Kyo, Iori, and Chizuru are the gatekeepers of the orochi. And only all 3 of them can stop him. Iori however being cursed with the orochi blood in him goes into a berserk
