Nice close-up. It is a pitty the hard steam exhaust covered the loco rods and wheels in motion. Let me tell you I feel afraid of suffering serious skin burns due to this high pressured steam when loco starts running.

@shininghappyperson7 Spokane, Portland & Seattle 700 is the only surviving example of their E-1 class 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive. Nearly identical to the A-3 class Northerns built for Northern Pacific Railway, but burning oil instead of coal.

That driver should be banned! Leaving the cocks open is not only bad for PR but dangerous to on-lookers! It's also bad for the loco to have them on too long - watch some of the professionals.

Very cool! I notice the train has one open (cattle?) car - that is where I would like to ride!

The pleasure of riding Amtrak used to be in the smoking car with open windows but I believe Amtrak no longer uses any cars with windows that open.
