  • i have never nearly even cryed at a song before omg

  • @natboy87

lol...how? The lyrics suck. I mean he is a good singer, and this is good music...but as far as like...being emotional...the lyrics are not there in the least.

  • @TheKenTerry dont know :O

  • @TheKenTerry I know, right. The lyrics are not obvious like in typical love songs. This song and its lyrics are for more sophisticated taste.

  • @TheKenTerry trololololol

  • @CatNCobra2

Lol...because I say this song doesn't have good lyrics I must be a troll?

  • I seriously can not believe that people are bitching about the lyrics being too fast,

On a better note, THIS SONG IS SO FANTASTIC, gahh. Never gets old

  • @KIDKRUSH02 He's married to a Playboy Playmate and has 2 daughters

  • It is "Willie May"not "will he may." Willie Mays is a an old Giant's player, boo...you had it right the first time

  • @Joymac713 Read the Top Comment. Don't know how you missed it.

  • @Joymac713 I thought it was "and well he may" actually... but I could, of course, be wrong :)

  • @emmathecrocodile PEEEEENIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @emmathecrocodile maybe cause the reason we like the song isn't cause it was in 500 days of summer?

  • @slammed23 haha it was kind of a rhetorical question. I knew the song before I watched 500 days of summer. but it's an awesome movie, and people should definitely watch it :)

  • lol look at the comment before this. xD

  • @KWPajak That's why he's a Slytherin.

  • @midnightwallflower this should be a top comment xD

  • Love love love love love love love. <3

  • Slytherinheir is a bit of a dick.

  • @KWPajak why thank you. Slytherinheir16 is a "she" btw. The term "heiress" reminds me of Paris Hilton. -_-

  • @slytherinheir16 Nevertheless. You're a Slytherin and therefore probably a dick.

  • @slytherinheir16 The name 'Paris Hilton' reminds me of smelly dick cheese.

  • @KWPajak Of course she is, she's a Slytherin.

  • this is beautiful i really like the lyrics

  • G-R-E-A-T i cant stop of play this on my guitar and sing :D

  • Amazing song; amazing band.

  • I think the correct lyrics are actually "well he may. " :)

  • but Willie Mays is a famous ballplayer... and it might have said that instead of 'well he may'... i don't know. Because there's a statue of Willie Mays in front of SBC park.

  • @alev4alwys0627 It's "well he may" but it is a pun on Willie Mays.

  • ha ha, this song says 'gay'!

  • @Awgez24 herp derp. what are you? 12?

  • @slytherinheir16 no its cz a was doing a cover of it with the guitar and a was using this for the lyrics because they all dont fit on the screen without scrolling down if i go to a lyric site... i just about managed it though:)

  • Comment removed

  • @slytherinheir16 if you cant keep up, you must not know this song very well...

  • what gives? I was looking for the 80's cartoon Belle and Sebastian I used to watch as a kid. See ya!

  • Qualcuno direbbe ''Pezzo della Madonna.'' o ''Immani.'' quel qualcuno ha ragione.

  • heard this is the film Juno, LOVE IT!

  • ~O~o~O~o~ E a R g A s M ~o~O~o~O~

  • Very VERY appreciative for the lyrical subtitles. Let's face it, the lyrics are hard to follow. Now, I don't know if that's because of the accent (I'm as American and Cacasion as they come) or what, but I assume that the lyrics are so adverse and the story is so spontanious that it is simply... hard to follow withouth listening to it multimple times.

I first heard this song when I saw Juno. Ever since, it's been a window to my soul, and that should not be taken lightly ---------

  • @ManicRevelation --------- This song speaks of simple social truths. Relation and social connection. Passion and love. It shouldn't be hard to recognize. I linked this very subtitled video to a girl I love so she could understand the lyrical passion that I feel inside my perspective mind. That is NOT to be taken for granted.

It's not all about baseball. It's actually very less about baseball than most would assume. This song is "real talk" as some would say.

    ...Much appreciated...

  • corr, what a lovely song:)

  • great. nice job. now i'm singing willie may along everytime I play the song now. LOL jk

  • i love this song. it makes me want to cry

  • belle & sebastian are seriously underrated

  • 9 people are musically confused. Too bad.

Beautiful song. Its so simple. I love it.

  • what does "i know it wouldnt came to love, my heroin pretend" means? he likes her, but doesnt love her. whos the heroin? why is she pretending?

im sorry, its hard when its not your first language! thnks

  • pretty sure it is-the statue crying too and well he may

with a briliant double meaning, in that he says it quickly to sound like Willy Mays. whose statue is in front of giants stadium. the entire song is full of these double-meaning word plays. ferdinand references both magellen and shakespeare's ferdinand and miranda.

and the pitcher/catcher thing... obvious double meaning. but it plays on the rumor that koufax and piazza were both gay.

great song. simple, but beautifuly complex.

  • isnt it "well he may"? "will he may makes" no more sense than "willie may"

  • come on the giants!!

  • This song has made me happy after being sad so many times that it's unreal.

    This song literally saves me.

  • What does "life outside a diamond is a wrench" mean ?

  • @pyreneeamour it's referring to the diamond on a baseball pitch i believe, basically saying life other than playing baseball isn't as favorable.

not saying that's definite but it sounds pretty accurate.. agreed?

  • Piazza should have never left the Dodgers.. still have all his dodger cards

  • omgosh i freakin love this song

  • @strangecho i know me to lol !

  • @LadyLaufradRecords the statue he is talking about is of a baseball player who played for the giants named willie mays. singers like to mumble.

  • @slytherinheir16 you had it right the first time. Willie Mays was a baseball player for the San Francisco Giants and there is a statue of him near the stadium in San Francisco which is what the song is about. "Will he may" could be a pronunciation play on words if anything, because it does sound like that is what he says, but its well known that it is a reference to Willie Mays

  • @BlizzardDNB Yeah, it was.

  • Piazza was better when he was a Los Angeles catcher ;)

  • really cool :)

  • I've always loved this song - deffinatly one of my favourites. And every time I hear it I automatically think 'The Saddest Story' is Oscar Wilde's 'The Happy Prince' I don't know why, probably the crying statue thing.

  • This song makes me want to go to bike riding on a sunny day in France.

  • @LaurenLovesJB thats such a great way to think of this lol! its always made me feel like going for a walk through fields up some nice countryside in the sun! lol!

  • @LaurenLovesJB i just randomly happened upon this video, and saw your comment and had to reply because when i was in france two summers ago i borrowed a friends ipod and this was one of the few good songs on it, and i rode my bike to and from the market and beach everyday listening to this song on (mostly) sunny days. :)

  • @evilarhan1 so did I.

  • got it from naomi & ely, lovely track

  • doesn't he sing "will he may" instead of "willie may"?

  • @LadyLaufradRecords The correction is posted in a bubble in the video.

  • @slytherinheir16 i think it is Willie May...he was a baseball player and that's what this song is about.

  • @pksams2000

    agreed.

  • @slytherinheir16 idiot

  • @slytherinheir16 I think it's actually 'and well he may'....

  • @slytherinheir16 It's "Well he may"

  • @slytherinheir16 It's "Well he may"

  • @LadyLaufradRecords it's well he may .....

  • @LadyLaufradRecords

I thought it was in reference to Willie Mays the Giants outfielder.

  • @LadyLaufradRecords I think Willie May is a reference to the statue of Willie Mays outside the Giants stadium in S.F.

  • @tjbarrie It is but the play on words is "will he may".

  • @LadyLaufradRecords It is in reference to the willie may statue but the line is "the statue crying too and well he may".

  • @LadyLaufradRecords

Actually I think it's "well, he may," but it's meant to sound like Willie Mays. Wordplay.

  • I like to pretend it's Willie Mae, who was a rhythm and blues singer, but since she has no association with New York, I doubt it. I think it's "well he may"

  • @MauraAnastasia "The statue's crying too and well he may," It's a pun. The song is set in San Francisco, the only reason New York is mentioned is that the Mets are in town to play the Giants, and the characters attend. Outside Giants stadium there are statues of Giants greats, incl. Willie Mays. "Well he may" is mispronounced on purpose to approximate his name.

  • @bcgonynor i think you mean to emphasize or exaggerate his name. approximate first of all is not even a verb, it's a noun or an adjective or an adverb and means around. like, the approximate time of the movie is 7 (adj) or, an approximation for that math problem is 40 (noun) or, it's approximately 4:30 (adverb)

  • @heathi51 Definition of APPROXIMATE from Webster's:

    Transitive Verb 1) a : to bring near or close b : to bring (cut edges of tissue) together;

2 ): to come near to or be close to in position, value, or characteristics "A child tries to approximate his parents' speech."

The 'e' in 'well' is mispronounced as a short 'i' in order to sound like "Willie." By not sounding quite alike, a pun is created between the verb phrase "well he may" and the name "Willie Mays." It's cute. Also, get over yourself.

  • @heathi51 Approximate... pronounced with a "mate" rather than a "mat" is most certainly a verb.

  • @LadyLaufradRecords The statue's crying too AND BILLY MAYS.

  • @unclefeezus BILLY MAYS HERE WITH A BRAND NEW PRODUCT! CHIPOTLE AWAY!

  • @LadyLaufradRecords The lyric is 'The statue's crying too, and well he may'

  • @LadyLaufradRecords I'm a recent listener to this band/song. BUT Willie Mays was a famous baseball player who played for both the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants. Perhaps, since much of the lyrics reference baseball, this is the correct lyric. It is possible that the S may have been dropped accidentally during production, or intentionally for the sake of the timing of the song.

    . . . perhaps.

  • i love this song...makes me think of my girlfriend

  • @superdrummerdude1 that is so nice! i hope i meet a guy that would say that about me one day!

  • This song makes me insanely happy.

  • love the lyrics the song is just a bouns

  • got it from Juno and i love them they calm my nerves

  • I love this song<3

    soso much<3

  • Something about this song... it's so ridiculously simple but captivating at the same time. Amazing.

  • haha this is so sweet that i get cavities in my teeth :)

  • can anyone tell me what the story or meaning of this song is ? its all jumbly and I cant figure it out.

  • Does anyone know who they are referring to by Ferdinand and wayward girl? Pls replay, I love this song

  • @Acwdhawle Hi Acwdhawle, greetings from London. I think the Ferdinand he refers to is the one from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" - the "wayward girl" would then be Miranda, who falls in love for Ferdinand against the wishes of her father, Prospero: "O, wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous making is! O brave new world that has such people in it", etc. Best regards, WorldFlaneur.

  • i love this song <3

  • i'm voiceless , did not expect to like this song so much , was the first time i ever listened to BS , gonna catch up i guess, thanks for the post

  • love this song...

  • really like this lmovie thing, very nice for singalong!

  • @coughingbean thanks!

  • I did a cover of Piazza New York Catcher on my guitar. Check it out.

  • this girl i knew learnt this song for me, and i never got to hear it :(

  • amazing song.

the words are so odd but theyre oddly easy to remember

  • cant get enough of this song... T-T

  • Even a foetus has a right to exist. Who's going to give a voice to a foetus if not a pro-lifer?

  • you mean fetus right hun?

  • Honey,'foetus' is how we spell it in the United Kingdom!

  • Oo my bad, us crazy Americans spell it like "fetus'. Haha

  • Yeah,I know. There are plenty of words that you folks spell differently from us!

  • @slytherinheir16 it's a british spelling, i believe.

  • everything does, you forgot that a foetus is in fact an enemy inside the woman

  • though I never bothered to watch the pro-life diatribe that is Juno, I find this song to be enchanting.

  • lol, really? you thought it was a pro-life diatribe? It didn't feel like that at all to me. There was no one against her having an abortion except her one insane classmate. In the end she made the choice to have it and give it up for adoption. That's about as pro-choice as you can get!

  • It had nothing to do with being pro-life, you fuckwit. First, I would like to beat the shit out of you for being a pretentious atheist douche. I'm agnostic, yet I'm able to keep my superiority complex in check, you asshat.

Juno is about how love conquers all, even in the oddest and most awful circumstances. Teen pregnancy is the canvas on which this story is painted, but it's not the whole point.

    Read. A Goddamned. Book.

  • I <3 this comment.

  • hellz yeah!

  • for some reason i cryed

  • this songs really cute..

now i want to download it.. :]

  • As a fan of both Belle and Sebastian and baseball well before this song was released, I find it never fails to make me smile. I just love the syntax.

  • ai lóle isto é mesmo cross caralho

  • Awesome song!

  • Neat :)
