@WhatTheFproductions Doesn't sound weird at all. That's what MBZ cars are known for, well the old ones at least. My friend's 190E was a very solid car.
"A sedan with classic coupé-like proportions. The designation was first applied to a low-roof model of the Rover P5 from 1962 until 1973, but was revived as recently as 2004 by the Mercedes-Benz CLS."
1. It's not the "first ever"
2. It's not a coupe, because of its sedan-like proportions.
MB has a lot to be proud of. This title means nothing to the customer, it's non-innovative, inaccurate, and therefore completely pointless. That's all I know.
Like I said though, Mercedes has a lot more to be proud of. They quite literally invented nearly every safety feature that is standard on all modern cars nowadays. I'd much rather see them use that for advertising. Or their reliability, luxury, and comfort.
The GL has more features and is better looking. It has a better crash safety rating, but the Volvo is a better overall value. I know from experience that Mercedes-Benz maintenance costs are through the roof. I have owned 4 and I averaged about $2,800 per year in mechanical costs.
That's my favorite also - but the W140 coupe isn't bad looking and it got passed up as well - maybe using the e-class coupe from the 90s instead helps make the new cls look even better (and helps us forget the "over-engineered" greatness of the 80s and 90s) Cheers
I had the option of buying the W140-320CE (highest version in AU) but choose not to. I don't regret it but I would like my next car in say 10-15 years time to be the CLS. I don't mind not having a manual, I always prefer a special gearbox, and one with 7 gears would suit me fine :D
No. The EB112 was a Convertible. Mazda said the RX-8 was the first 4-door coupe, but it was to where the doors could only be open if the driver or passenger door was opened first. (The door was small and handle could only be accessed once front doors were opened)
Mercedes was originally Diamler-Benz then split to form Diamler Chrystler but they still share factories and assets, they also retracted their production budget cut of 1996 and the CLS is the first new model to benifit from that so hopefully mercedes will return to all its glory from the W124 days
Yes, and Fiat ownes NASA...you are sadly mistaken if you would think a benchmark would be taken over by a 3rd rate crap-car company.
M-B OWNS, as in OWNS Chrysler, which it will soon DUMP off the side of a cliff...osmosis from the K-cars nearly killed MBZ quality, but I ALWAYS feel better a few minutes after I throw up.
@1targa lmfao u call fiat a 3rd rated crap-car company and say Mercedes will dump Chrysler.... fiat bought Chrysler lol you can predict the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@1targa i hate chrysler... they are the s**ttiest cars in the usa, and they are still s**t to this day. good on Mercedes for giving the proverbial FU to Chrysler and the inevitable rebound of quality that resulted!
This commercial is brilliant, notice how you always hear 2 thumps when they close the doors almost at the same rate and they they focus on the 4 thumps on the CLS...*thump* *thump* *thump* *thump*
The W124 doors must sound like PLOM! Really rock car.

No-- Coupé.

Surely the Rover P5 coupe of the 1950's/60's was the first ever 4 door coupe. Think it was called the 'P5 b'

Come on. 4 door coupe?
wildbloodydragon 2 years ago
have an open mind why don't ya
LexLutherXL 2 years ago
I do. Accurate terminology doesn't imply close-mindedness, but rather attention to accuracy.
Breaking the rules of language doesn't take an open mind either.
wildbloodydragon 2 years ago
the term 'coupe' does not only mean a car consisting with only two doors my friend.
there are 7 types of coupes. the newest one is the four door coupe.
wikipedia it or google it. its like when the first sports car sedan was released. just gonna have to realize some things change over time;
including "terms"

It's a fastback. Wiki that.

whats youre definition of a coupe, and if youre so against it take it up with VW, MB, BMW, Audi, and anyonther erupean car comp.
LexLutherXL 2 years ago
My definition of a coupe is everybody else's definition of a coupe. It's a 2 door car with a sporty shape.
Will do, I will write an email to Mercedes and tell them this marketing tactic is pointlessly stupid.
wildbloodydragon 2 years ago
well this conversation is pointless who cars if they say its a four door coupe.
if they want to call it a four door coupe im sure there is not a great deal you about it.
i who ever thought that there would be a four door sports car?
just accept it and learn to love the idea of something rather then retaliate against it.

i respect your point of view.
i guess some people like the idea and some people dilike it.
is what it is

A great add... im thinking ¿what's better, a MB GL class or a Volvo XC60, 70 or 90?
MREURONCAP 3 years ago
take the xc90 its affordable, and very comfortable car, the GL-Class you're getting rip of..

Or, get a GLK or ML. The GL is a more expensive ML car, and the GLK is the best CUV.
