Thank you for putting this song up. The entire album is a masterpiece. 'Been on a train', blackpatch, When I was a freeport and you were the main drag' and Upstairs by a Chinese Lamp are my favorites. But, Brown earth may be my all time favorite Laura Nyro tune.Agree with @bluejupiter about the harmony and her ability to come to several climatic moments, but that was her strength and her uniqueness. Still loving her music some 40 yrs later.
could be my favorite of Laura's songs. Love the vocal harmony. Love her ability to serve up several climactic moments in one short song.. Like many of her "love songs" her lyric aches for both personal affection and global tenderness. Don't know of too many other songwriters who can bring this off without it sounding a little cloying. Randy Newman, maybe. Anyway, thanks for posting. (mjs3888: enjoy the ride: music lets us make friends across time. I envy you your fresh ears.)
I'm just sad I wasn't born 25 or 30 years earlier so I could've been a fan when this music originally came out. I just discovered her a few months ago but I still feel really passionate about her music. I haven't felt passion for an artist's music in a really long time. Especially with the shape of popular music today. She's what I was looking for.

Laura Endures - love this as much as the very first time I ever heard her voice in 1968.

The best track ever recorded, in my opinion. As perfect as a song can be, I utterly adore it.
