Ya know what pisses me off ? People who ignorantly say they hate birds because they bite,or make noise,or dirty. If you made one of those people baby sit one for about a month or two, they'd end up adopting a parrot.People have NO concept of just how intelligent parrots are.I'm a proud parent,or friend,or brother to Conures,Quakers,Af.Greys,Rainbow lorikeets. They are lovable, loyal, accommodating, great listeners, burglar alarms, wake up alarms, messy(not dirty),and..chances are they will out live you !
This video sure contradicts the notion that birds don't like to be handled. That's extreme affection!
I have a cockatiel that's 4 months old and after the first 3 days we had him, I can't keep him offa' me! He can hear me coming from way down the hall and starts whistling for daddy to come and let him out of the cage.
I enjoy his affection, but the poops are the only problem.. I get covered with them!
Next year, I may adopt an African Grey. Wonderful birds, all of them!
I had a macaw he past away about a year ago had him for 10 years oe day he just fell dead cherish your baby my blue used to talk a whole buch called me mama I still ca ot get over his death he will always be i my heart
The Macaw is actually getting the salt (sleep) out of his eye.....Mine does the same, we carry lots of harmful bacteria, it's not the other way round...Their feet are the threat to us as they cannot clean them, that's why they have reptile like armoured feet. Its good to see similar behaviour though, thanks for sharing.....
good job that bird loves you! i just got one from my brother and i couldnt even touch him, now i can pet him feed him he tells me he loves me! i still am a little afraid to hug him. but i dont think he would hurt me!
Birds are the most wonderful pet in the world. We have 2 cockatiels, a budgie, a blue quaker and an african grey, and we couldn't imagine life without them!
this is beautiful. thank you. i cried, and after watching this, i wanted to go nuzzle my sun conure, but he was in his sleep cage and i didn't want to disturb him. : )
Dude he probally has a wife and why do you care? Its not your life and i bet if he wants a girl he can get one, coz i don't see the reason why he has 2, so stay of other peoples life
ohh btw-You do need to be in control at all times that's agreed..they are known to try to remove skintags and moles -not to hurt you but as an attempt to groom the ones they love.
*lol* Yeah, I've had my share of attempted grooming of bumps on my skin. Ouch! My poor baby. I think I offended him when I shrunk back. He also tries to groom my arm hairs too. XD
I love seeing footage of people loving on their parrots. Anytime you want to post some more of you kissin' on that parrot, that'll be fine! I'd like to have a whole DVD of folks cuddling their parrots. Silly me.
i think this will be next bird i get there so cool lol have a sun conure shes very sweet and love her i just want a bigger bird who knows maybe they will like each other =P
just leave the cage open most of the time then shell know theresnothing to hurt her, if that dosnt work then try puting her food or water in front of where she comes out;)
My advice is to take the parrot, any parrot, out of the cage and love on it in a gentle thoughtful way, in a repeatable pattern. Be careful not to kiss directly on their ear holes! Back of the head is okay. Anything you do to them regularly (read 'daily'), they come to take as quite natural. Try to make each time out of the cage a pleasant/non-stressful one for them. In time, the beastie will be happy to come out and share food and love with you.
Aren't birds great? I have a parakeet... she's my "daughter". Nothing is sweeter than when she lands on my shoulder and says, "I love you, sweetie mama". What a beautiful sight to see you with your "baby".
Chiffon56, I don't understand why your comment has gotten all the negatives. Maybe it's 'cause folks are concerned about you treating the bird like a human. I think that concern is baseless in this case. Yes! Birds Are Great!
we have a macaw who acts just like that over his daddy! i swear maverick (our macaw) is rotten over him . . . . i'm soo jealous of it, too! :) teehee!

no a bird that truly loves you will even try to groom your eyebrows and nibble on your nose occasionally.
The wet eye hug is the greatest kind of snuggle. lol

Sometimes it takes months to make a parrot trust you - sometimes it just get on your finger/hand. Parrots are like people ;p
