Ugh, I remembered around springtime in 2007 I had to travel to San Antonio for one weekend each month. From the 610 loop to Beltway 8, traffic was backed up for miles due to construction. It took me an hour or more just to get through that section each time.

dude i would kill for old katy freeway footage .your vid shows the entire old west belt interchange although the new interchange is twice as big now , i think i like the old interchange better for sum reason mainly because of the inter transfer of traffic on the 10 to the belt

Houston has a colossal freeway network. If it were more pleasing to the eye (and to your buttocks) it would probably be the best in the world.

This freeway is currently undergoing the largest freeway expansion in history (from what I've heard). Previously (on each side) it had 3 main lanes and 2 frontage/service lanes, plus one center reversible HOV Lane, making for 11 lanes total. The new configuration is believed to have around 20 to 24 lanes total and will have toll lanes in the center.

Project (from what I heard last) will cost around or over $2.7 billion and will be complete in the last half of 2008.
