  • Other than the closing, I would have expected something more thrilling from JSU

  • how about that sick 7 bass split at 7:20. orgasmic

  • I love it. What a fun mix. I love the drumline solo into pines of rome into the finale. University of North Texas and Jacksonville State make up the best of college corps style bands. Love it!

  • holy F^&^&*^&UTYH Is that what i think i hear at 7:55 to 8:45 ish ? =DDDDDD OMFG

We sight read the real thing yesterday I think we broke the flute player's ears...

  • This was pretty a pretty awesome show but I like their 07 show a lot better. The one with the MASSIVE rack of cymbals that the snare drummers went crazy on.

  • omg that was so much fun!!! cant wait to go next year.......armuchee rocked

  • we were there our line and pit won 1st in sweeps go trion!

  • i love these guys but i wish they would do something new and different. It always seems to be the same. Even in high school when we would go to competitions and the would be there, it was always great, but very similar to the year before.

  • umm...yeah. Pagliacci, Malaguena, and Bohemian Rhapsody are easily confused as the same thing.

  • Everyone should look up the Pride of Dixie Marching Band from the University of North Alabama. The band rocks and is the best in the state of Alabama!!!

  • ha wow... North Alabama....? I think not... The best bands in the state are Troy University Sound of the South and the JSU Marching Southerners. Only other band that might be up there with us is the Million Dollar Band but they haven't been all that great these past few years.

  • @sotsclarinet08 Wow you dumbass... The only reason JSU MAY BE better than "The Pride of Dixie" is because they got the numbers. If you don't realize they have like double the people... UNA is more clean on the music and marching... JSU just got a bigger sound than them... And really?!?!?! The million dollar band?!?!?! There is hardly even marching... Wow you suck go kill yourself... I bet you don't even play the clarinet I bet you just masturbate with it... That's how much you suck...

  • @celticsinbama wow, you are an ass.

  • JSU is AMAZING!!!!! I was there at this competition! The Hiram High School Band of Gold competed there and all we talked about was JSU!!!! :)

  • Not the strongest visual run guys! Ive seen this band much cleaner! Love you guys tho!

  • you do need to remember this day was also our homecoming day. so we had the parade that morning, the whole show for pregame, halftime, the football game itself then a 1 1/2hr ish drive there. i thought that was one of our better shows cause the band hypes off the crowd response and that was one of the best crowds we had all year.

  • This was an early to mid-season performance. This show just grew and grew and by the end of the season it was an orgasmic, mind blowing experience to behold.

  • Well, lucky for us that "popularity" isn't everything. What is important is a quality education, regardless of the path one chooses and for that, JSU can and does keep up and in many areas, especially music, we surpass.

So, if you Troy wants to be more popular, more power to them. I'd go for quality over popularity anytime. But thanks for your comment. It confirms so much of what we at JSU already knew.

  • Both are really good schools, and they both offers really good programs. Much success to both bands in 2009. Troy Rock On!!!

  • Troy has a band?

Seriously, I am from KY and everyone here knows JSU...not so much Troy.

  • @BigFan71 WoooooT. lol

  • Well of course the school with the bigger/better football team is going to get more recognition. This is why so many people know about the *cough* SOTS and think it is the best thing they have ever seen/heard. Compared to most other bands Troy does have a "better" band program, however that doesn't mean that they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Besides who wants to listen to Dixie "wrong-note" when you can listen to the much more powerful and emotional Salvation. Southerners ftw.

  • This is really good. They sound almost as good as Troy Uni..the sound of the south!~

  • You only wish Troy sounded half this good. You know what they say . . . "If you can't go to hell, go to Troy."

  • Troy does the same drill every year with different music. Take about creativity.

Btw, dude this is the Marching Southerners. This is the best you can get. Troy Sucks.

  • did anyone notice that ballerina fall during Trepak?? OUCH!!

But the recovery was good! Sucks that the field was wet...good job on getting back up and gettin right back in! Whoever that was my hat goes off to you!!

  • Yeah there are going to be drill problems. There is not a college band in the nation that can march a perfect show. I marched in this show and it is hard to be clean when the hashes have been worn away. Not to mention the fact that the hashes that could be seen were for high school football fields and not college football fields.

  • you know, i think it's funny that JSU can have 350+ members spread from endzone to endzone, sideline to sideline, during the 3rd performance of the day and still not have phasing problems and/or completely fall apart and have to restart...*cough*UNA*cough*

  • LOL..."Let's Try That AGAIN" - Mr. Lloyd Jones, Director of Bands, UNA.

If JSU did UNA's drill, JSU would be just as clean...I mean really, how hard can 20 sets be?!?!

  • this was amazing I was on top of the pressbox I got done with our exabition and ran to the top to watch!!!!!

  • I march county btw!! lolz

  • can anyone tell me the requirements to be a ballerina at jsu?

  • i was in the audience. I sat in the Starrs Mill section. Wow. they peeled the skin off my face. amazing. this is what you call loud with a great sound. high school compared to this is nothing.

  • You must have some vision and music appreciations problems. This band is a marching work of art.

  • dude you have to understand that it was freezing cold that night. i don't know how anybody could perform when it was that cold. they sure did pull it off though. i love JSU. they are amazing, and i cannot wait to march there next year.

  • I've got to agree with you, bandguyruss. While portions of the show were entertaining, there were still significant problems with the music and, most noticeably, drill. Individuals sometimes mistake volume for quality, and JSU definitely demonstrates a high degree of the former without much regard for the latter. Visually, there are some very interesting and aesthetically appealing elements to the show's drill; however, JSU's execution is lack luster at best. Overall, cool show, but needs work.

  • 8:50 till the end is my favorite part of this video....blow em' away Southerners!!

  • I cant wait to be in this amazing band next year! wooooo!

  • im playing shostakovich 5th in symphony i love it

  • I saw the Southerners at the Calhoun County Exhibition and again during halftime of the SEMO game.

They blew me away both times.

I even watched their drumline warm up before the Exhibition.

I have to say they are the reason people like me become drummers. So much skill and they make us want to become that good.

  • it was an amazing show my band was lucky enouch to have a spot on the fifty

  • i was right beside the pit on the left side........i made up my mind right then that i am gonna march there next year......lol.......awesome show for an awesome band

  • amazing show. i saw it just last night at the high school band competition they hosted. they are amazing!!

  • good show :P

  • it reminds me so much of alex city comp.

cause of the way the firld and bleachers are...

    lol

im in the East Limestone marching band though

    jsu was there

    at alex city compitition

  • This is my second year as a member of the southerners colorguard and I've never had as much fun performing as I did in this performance...I smiled the entire show and I know the audience had a big part in that so thank you to all of you guys!

  • I was standing right in front of the pit for the whole show. It was jaw dropping, especially the tenor solo where they mounted the drums on stands.
